I hope they get to produce something bigger based on the Pathfinder...while this looks great, it's too small for people who actually really need a third row of seats. Mitsubishi is missing out on the mid size crossover/SUV segment in the US, they've been doing so since they discontinued the Montero and Montero sport.

I may have missed the price as I was getting my five year old ready for bed, but it looks like a really nice option for our small family. At a good price, I can see it having great appeal. Thanks, Kirk. It was fun you incorporating your family. You often mention your little girls making noise in the background and I have never heard them until yesterday when I watched your video on the next IS. I thought it was coming from downstairs but was them. I laughed. Even if they do make their presence known, it doesn’t bother me. Keep hustling.

Hey Kirk quick question since the new Rogue got the well waited for engine that was in the Infinity SUV’s, do you think it’s gone go in all the line up
@syxepop
@syxepop 2 жыл бұрын
The 201hp engine on the Rogue is a ("1.5L") 3 pot version of the VC Turbo used on the Infiniti QX 50 / 55 (268hp) and the topline Nissan Altima (248hp), so I'd say each would be kept for smaller and larger apps.
@KirkKreifels

I wish it had the VC turbo and 250+ HP for the money... PHEV might be the best option out there depending on how it's priced
@syxepop

@@KirkKreifels - Kirk, if Mitsu would put any VC Turbo it'd be the 3-pot rather than the I4 as they're reserving the latter for Infiniti (until it dies, that is...) or for larger Nissan apps. Any further versions of the VC Turbo are still "close to the top brass chests".

Kirk, so Mitsubishi hasn't yet updated to the VC-Turbo "1.5L" 3-pot the Rogue already has* (+20hp), also they're not made in the same Japanese factory as the Rogue (2 separate factories). That and the fact the Mitsu is +2" / 50mm longer than the Rogue (that is still not enough for the 3rd row exclusive to the Outlander, like on the Space Wagon and Expo predecessors). That's how Mitsu is trying to distance itself from "their Nissan masters" (design and equipment are NOT ENOUGH, just check the "dance" Hyundai and Kia brand have to do in their mostly shared models). *except for Canadian sold base models, which still have this NA-2.5L the Outlander have PS: Do you think the new Outlander Sport on the cover of that Japanese magazine will make it to The States in '23 MY?
@syxepop
@syxepop 2 жыл бұрын
@@chezzyperson3339 - I don't see both a new Outlander Sport and a new Qashqai / Rogue Sport in US, which will probably share the SWB version (same width) of the Outlander / Rogue / Xtrail platform. There are more chances to see in US Mitsu's version than Nissan's. On that 3G Qashqai (info already plastered on Wikipedia) there's an intriguing engine, the first app of the 3-pot VC-Turbo with electrification (2 kWh self-contained battery pack). But wonder if that hybrid combo would make the Rogue Sport even more expensive than the Rogue in USDM (the topline model in USDM already is over the topline Rogue).

It would be helpful for people to know that the middle row is adjustable just like the front seats where you can slide them forward or back. Everyone seems to forget that you can adjust the seats to make for more leg room for the 3rd passengers. If you did that then your girls would be more than comfortable. This has one of the best rear seat leg room in it's class and because you can adjust the seats you can take advantage of that for the 3rd passengers. As far as cargo space behind the 3rd row please show me a vehicle that can accommodate your "Sam's Club" runs with all rows of seats up. If you have an Escalade, Suburban or something of that size then for sure but any vehicle similar or larger up is still useless for cargo space behind the 3rd row. The Outlander is a 5+2 vehicle, the 3rd row is for those odd chances you need extra seats. If you have 7 adults or 4 adults and children then you need a van, not an SUV for people capacity and cargo.

Growing up, we had an ‘84 Dodge RAM van that was equipped with a Mitsubishi motor. The funny part was everything broke on that van except for the engine. I personally would be very reluctant to consider a Mitsubishi in 2022. Their dealer network is dwindling and the long term reliability of a Mitsubishi is subpar compared to a Toyota or Honda.

@@KirkKreifels it will at certain speeds but not at all speeds. It's the same reason something like the toyota sienna hybrid has a faster 50-70mph than the v6 sienna but the v6 has a quicker 0-60 and 30-50 the gearing is bad in the 8spd auto. If you have a v6 sienna and you floor it at 50mph it won't go into 2nd gear. The transmission will go into 3rd gear and it's not enough revs to get the vehicle moving quickly until it picks up some revs. I bet you this has as quick or even quicker 50-70 time. It's the same reason every time I race a camry 4cy that has over 200hp I beat it in my less than 190hp altima. The 8spd in the toyota is actually holding it back until it picks up some revs. Like I said try it in the rav 4 locked in 3rd gear at 50 and punch it. The funny thing is if you lock it in 3rd gear at 40mph in the rav 4 and floor it the transmission downshifts to 2nd gear automatically and thats sad because you have less control than the cvt that will actually hold the selected ratio you summoned. The rav 4 is actually only slightly faster from 0-60 than this bigger vehicle that weights more with less hp so it's not that bad. What is it 0.5 seconds faster to 60? If you're doing a pull at 40 idk why you would be in 3rd gear anyway. Is any 4cyl fast in 3rd gear at 40mph? Supposed to be in 2nd gear. Oh well...
