The only thing I'll disagree with is that its too small for visibility - the rebel 500 seat height is actually 3 inches lower than the Grom. I would argue the Grom is basically as visible as a lot of other bikes on the road. Great video by the way!

Cars never watch rearview anyway. Invisible training is a must, "they are *NOT* seeing me"

I think the biggest lesson for new riders is to ride/drive for everyone around you. You should be scanning all the time and know that you can maneuver if you are always alert.

I put the levers on as well and put a 420 O ring Racing Chain and sprockets stock gearing with black rear sprocket nuts . I have the Yosh pipe as well still in the box undecided on it , noise wise . 😁

Awesome review! Which mirrors are those? And how did you get them so high/how are they mounted?

Just bought a grom, had a Benelli tornado, Grom is a better option more poke. But I would not get it to run around at 60 mph fun commuting is all it’s for and to go camping lol great vid

Do a replacement camshaft, it's totally worth it! The 170usd DHM flash/camshaft deal would have been worth it. My 2015 shifts into neutral too easily and I end up not making it up to 2nd gear. My 2019 monkey is probably like yours, finding neutral is a pain.

Good for you Kirk! It's very cool. I like the Monkey, myself. I like the Yoshimura sticker on the tank and head light. It does sound pretty good for a 125cc bike. Kirk,if you want a fun bike, seriously, because I've owned many motorcycles, buy a DRZ400SM, Super Moto. Put a pipe on it, Dynojet needle and jet kit, 3X3 modification, and you have a great fun bike that can run 90mph top-speed. It's a fun cheap bike to modify and work on yourself. Check it out, they're bulletproof bikes! Non-computerized too! The stock carb is even good after you re-jet it and change the needle.

Really like my Grom's but sometimes it is hard keeping up with traffic where I live, also no one I know rides them just bigger bikes, so I plan to trade both mine in soon.

Dude, please stick to your car reviews. JUST KIDDING!!! I am glad to see you have an interest in motorcycles too. As an owner of a 2022 Grom with ABS in Southern California, I have to say the number one thing I love about my motorcycle is the 155+ MPG's I am able to attain. Ironically, it is the one vehicle that I own that gets the most questions and thumbs up, and inquisitive inquiries about from complete strangers. If I want to go faster, I will take one of my other bikes. But smiles per mile, nothing tops my little blue Grom. 😉🙃🙂😁😁

Hey Kirk. Just watched your Grom video. The electric conversion I'm making solves a lot of the problems you talk about. The power is there and actually I need to turn it down. It ditches the clutch and its twist and go. I can increase range to whatever distances you need to go with larger capacity battery. We added quick charging to help get back to full charge quick. It would be a better beginner bike eliminating the transmission and shifting. I would love to collaborate with you when I finalize the conversion kit. You would love it.

Better beginner bikes are supposed to teach you about shifting. Youre basically describing an electric scooter.

Don't ever go to Yamaha Champ School and say something like "you need power to get away from problems". You'll get dunked on by the first instructor that hears that. They will tell you that if you're in a problem scenario you aren't using the 4 core habits and that if you do, starting with mental focus and accounting for umbrella or direction. You will never be in a situation where a sudden power out escape route is the only solution. They teach those moments as a complete failure on the rider's part as using the core habits should keep you out of bad situations way ahead of time. If you can afford the extra money, I can't recommend champ school enough. It's considered the best rider course either in person, or online that money can buy.

Even to this day I scan for all potential threats , trying to always leave a way out . The truth is "they" are not looking for a moving bike of any sort , therefore they are all blind to you . They will try and kill you , for they are barely observant of cars and trucks . And most don't follow the laws of the road anyway . Signal Drivers . My first bike pick is the Honda XR150L , with a stock top speed of 62 mph . And $600. of mods get you to 75 mph . The low MSRP of under $3000 . Already $1000 cheaper then the grom . Leaves more potential improvements for the XR150L . My best oppion the stock seat and soft suspension. Make for comfortable long rides and good off-road adventures. The gas mileage is reduced because this machine has a carburetor instead of more efficient injection.
