Sotria Kritsonis was 22 when she accepted a ride from a man in a Volkswagen bug on Rainier Avenue South in Seattle. She said the man who picked her up in winter 1972 was Ted Bundy, and the serial killer told her “You're not going to go to your destination.” Kritsonis told her story for the first time to KIRO 7 for a story that aired on Feb. 8, 2018. That story also included interviews with Seattle and Tacoma homicide detectives who are actively looking for a link between Bundy decades-old cold cases in which he’s suspected.
The reporter on this story was Dave Wagner; Casey McNerthney was the executive producer; Mike Griffth was the photographer; and the story was edited by Peter Gamba.

When I was 18 years old, I did the same thing. Got into someone’s car, and the man started touching my legs. I don’t know what went wrong in my head. Please don’t ever go into someone’s car. It is better to wait for 1 hour, and be annoyed rather than being in a car, and dead within hours.

Had something similar. I felt like a kid out of the movies. Had a truck pull up with a man and women in it. Telling me they lost their dog and needed help finding it. Shortly after I got in the truck and they started to drive away with me. Luckily my little brother was on the corner down the street and saw. They stopped to pick him up too, but he got in the bed of the truck and wouldn’t get inside the actual truck. Shortly after the got angry and asked me to get out and for my brother to get out as well. They drove off super quickly. I count my blessing every day because I know they had bad intentions with me but got scared or spooked last second because my brother wouldn’t get in quickly like me.

I have taken many moments of prayer for his victims. One of which was a student at Central College in Ellensburg, WA, around 45-50 miles from where I lived. THAT really hit deep.... poor girl. He later said he asked her for directions to lure her nearer. It seems like I remember that by that time he had a van & it seems like he said he killed her in the back of it...? One woman he worked with had a dog that snarled every time he came around. Smart, sensitive dog!

My dad was born in the late 50s, he told story's of going in his row boat at 5 years old and going down the canal for ages and ended up miles down the canal in the middle of a storm and asked a person to use their phone so his dad can pick him up. He said at that time stranger danger wasn't really a big thing as it is now. Just today me and my little sister were going two blocks away to a store and back to our house way and to the park a block away on the other side of our house and my dad told me and my sister "I trust you just not the world." He always says "keep your head on a swivel, pay attention to your surroundings, and stuck to your sister like glue". The contrast I hear from his stories then and now is astronomical.

I was 17 yrs old with long brown hair when I was at Sammamish State Park that infamous day. My cousin said TB approached us as we walked out of the bathroom. Some guy said something to me and I then said “No!” She said I grabbed her by the arm and we walked away. My cousin remembered that incident even more than I did. I guess over time that memory must’ve become more vague. I was young and was just having fun that day and a visit to the bathroom wasn’t on my list. I remember later on after the stories about more missing girls were coming out, a news report came on my car radio that literally took my breath away. They’d found criminal evidence of one of the missing girls. She was a traffic reporter. They found blood on her pillowcase. I feel tight in my stomach even now as I recall that day. I remember exactly where I was driving when I heard the news. I had to pull my car off the freeway to park on the shoulder. I was terrified and I cried. Horrible time. I lived in Issaquah too.

The reason ted was obsessed with long hair was because during his college years, he had met and fell in love with this woman which had too, long beautiful hair. They broke up, the relationship did not last. Bundy started looking for women that described her description which was long beautiful hair. This is something a lot of serial killers do, they look for a lot of traits in a victim, traits and descriptions that match somebody that had been in their life..somebody in which they had loved that had made them feel hurt. Deadly on the inside, charming on the outside! I noticed over the years, good people, that dont gossip, are honest, including me,r hated!People have an instant antipathy without doing anything! I know many honest women who dont steal womens husband or gossip, they attracted hate,i don tknow why! Like a irony, serial killers, or mean people i meet, manipulative, who have bad plans, they r charming! Is like faith is giving u a present to be charming so u wont be suspected and victims come to you without suspecting! People who r honest and they look evil, example, many taught guys look 200 pounds, tattooed, people r scared to talk with! Even they would want to attract victims they couldnt, bec people are reluctant! Thse men who look big n dangerous, usually arent! Ironic, this serila killers they r liked! So ODDD! Is like faith gave them a present so it would be easier to commit murder! The most dangerous women i meet ,even i knew they were dangerous, when they talked me,i felt manipulated like they had honey in their voice. Obviously i ran immediately bec i knew stuff about them, even i avoided them,i admitted their gift, that i felt manipulated when they talked! some people have that gift when u talk to them u feel relaxed, hypnotised calmed, like a sweetness n honey in their aura. So unfair !

This story is scary because it's similar to mine. I was waiting at the bus stop to go to band practice. This was in college. I had been waiting a while and it was hot. Sure enough a car comes up and three men were inside. They offered me a ride. I said yes without thinking and got inside. Then one of the men showed me a roll of money. He asked if I needed anything and I said no. Then he asked me what time practice would be over. I don't know why I told him the time. But he responded that he will be back to pick me up. I just said okay and got out of the car. I was thinking that I was a fool for getting in that car. I should've known better. I was silently thanking Jesus that they let me out of the car. So at the end of practice I saw the car again. However, I went the opposite direction and didn't looked back. I was praying to God they wouldn't follow me and they didn't. I knew God had given me an opportunity the first time, but if I got in that car again, I would've definitely been a fool and maybe dead.

A man who looked exactly like Bundy, year before this woman go in his car, driving a VW with passenger door sealed shut pulled up in small town park where I was sitting on a blanket with baby. His energy made me sick from 55 feet away. He made his way closer, leaned against a light pole then said "I hurt my ankle, will you help me to my car?" I looked into the exact same face as Bundy, gathered blankets and said "No." I got baby in car seat my whole body shaking. I had long brown hair. This was western Sonoma County northern California. I tried to memorize his license plate but couldn't recall it years later when I saw his face on news. I think it was him but never heard he was killing in California.

In the 70's my friend and l, just 13 and 14 were walking to the local shopping centre. Why? Because my stepdad was too lazy to drive us, literally 10 mins. My 13 year old friend, had 5 brothers that all hitch hiked. She was behind me with her thumb out. I turned around and screamed at her to stop. Just as this happened, a car, full of older males, pulled up at the kerb. After she lent in the front window, to ask for a ride, the male in the back, threw the door open and my friend jumped in. I grabbed her other arm and planted my platform shoe, against the car, as he pulled her in and l pulled her back, on top of me, all the time screaming, at the top of my lungs for help. Fortunately for us, a lady that had been kneeling in her garden, stood up and screamed l've got your registration (she didn't) and they took off. The lady walked us back home and said l won't come in but told me to get my mother, to come and see her. Several points here. I had been in many, very dangerous situations, due to my mum and dad's laziness and lack of care or concern. Not picking me up or driving me anywhere, for one. The lady had screamed at my friend, all the way home, that l was HER hero, that she owed HER life to me and she wanted my mother to know, exactly what happened. She said, tell your mother to come and see me, not even 6 or7 minutes, up the road. My mother said, l'm not going to her house, she can come here. My mother said, your not a hero, you did what you were meant to do, after l told her what happened. My friend just smiled and never thanked me. I was 14 years old. I always remember how swiftly and quietly it happened. The only thing that alerted that lady to danger, was me screaming for help, she said, The male spoke quietly to my friend, through the window, the lady did not even see the car pull up, just saw us walk by, with me telling my friend off for hitch hiking. The whole ordeal was passed over, as if nothing had ever happened, at all! Another time, my future sister in law, (hated me) had a 21st birthday party for my brother, at her mother's house. She and l were 18. My boyfriend, was meant to take me but lied about being ill, to go out with his mates. I went with my parents. Later 2 bikies arrived, staring at me. They started touching my breasts and pushed me to the ground. l went inside to my parents, only to find, they had gone home earlier, without telling me. My brother was blind drunk, under a bed asleep. I called my mother, from the house phone, told her what happened and begged for dad to pick me up. I'm not waking him she said, just walk, it's not far and hung up. I called again and she ignored it. I decided to try to walk home, it was again ten minutes away. I slipped away unnoticed, took my high heels off, got no further, than a minute down the driveway, when l stood on a broken bottle in the dark. A close school friend, of my brother's, came out with his girlfriend (my sister in law's best friend) and offered me a ride. I got in the back with his girlfriend smirking in the front and the 2 bikies appeared out of nowhere and got in either side. When Charlie started driving the wrong way, l knew l was in trouble. Here l was, a girl that was so aware of danger, in this predicament, because of others again. I knew Charlie loved my brother and myself but his girlfriend, had conjured this up with my future sister in law. I told him from the back seat and centre, how my brother used to tell me, that he was our honorary brother and that mum and dad adored him so much, (all lies) then he made eye contact with me, in the rear view mirror and l mouthed, help me please. He did. At this stage, we had pulled up at a dark abandoned school ground, with the bikies fondling me and kissing my neck. As one of them opened the door, with my arm firmly in hand,Charlie sped off before he could get out, back to my parents. They were all screaming for him to go back, yes even his girlfriend. When we arrived at my parents home, the lights were all off, not a care in the world for my ignorant, arrogant parents. Charlie told them to let me out. As l got out, l screamed at my parents bedroom window, C...... and M...... have brought me home mum, l'm out the front in case he changed his mind. Mum turned the light on. Mum yelled at me, for waking the neighbourhood. My mother's advice, when l confronted her was, that l was as weak as piss and should have fought off two fully fledged, 6ft something bikies. I screamed at her, that l was taken to the school, to be raped. My mother said don't be stupid...who would want to rape you? Well... she said, if your that worried about your safety, get your own licence and car. Again lack of concern from my parents, to this day at 64, l have never drank, never smoked, no illegal drugs, one boyfriend that l married. Lessons learnt, although l married him and he changed eventually, as my boyfriend at the time, he could not be trusted. Lying to hang out with mates, left me in vulnerable situations at the last minute, many times. Parents that could not be trusted, never trusted. I am still scarred to this day. I am overly protective of our 2 sons who are now 33 and 37. Still wondering why? well it comes back to my parents, complete lack of parenting skills. All of it, could have been avoided, if they had driven and picked up that quiet young girl.😢

True story... I was born in 84. Before I was born my mom was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She told me a story about how back then it wasn't a big deal to hitchhike and things. One day she caught a ride with this guy but as soon as she got in the vehicle she knew she fucked up. There wasn't a handle to get back out or way to roll the window down. Instead of panicking she acted overly friendly , she asked the man if he had any plans and that she would love to join him . She asked that he bring her around the corner (saying that's where she lived) to grab a couple of things. Assuring him she'd be right back. He did it. Got out of the vehicle to let her out and everything . She said " now you wait right here, I'm coming right back" she calmly walked into the building and hauled ass through the back. Never saw him again. I was born in New Orleans in 84. I was 3 months old when we moved to Florida and we've been here ever since. We live in the starke area which is a neighbor town of Gainesville, fl. When I was around 5. We lived down what we call race track road. In waldo, Florida. I remember my mother's face and she said there was a killer on the loose. We never locked our doors and I've never seen my mother so scared. I'm 34 years old now and I still have never seen that look on her face ever again. I was just a kid and I knew it was serious business because we were not allowed to play outside for a short time. Which back in those days we were made to and be home by dark. Obviously , it took me getting older to fully understand what all was going on. My mother fit the descriptions and she knew. I wonder if it was Ted back in the 80s. That tried to pick her up in Louisiana, or if it was another psychopath, she never said. The only thing she said about the man that picked her up was she got a bad feeling. Anyways, the world is nuts. I'm just convinced we all need training on defending ourselves. And knowledge on mental illness. There are so many more good people than bad but who can you trust. ? Kind of ruined for the good people needing a helping hand. .... Edit: upon further research I realized the serial killer when I was 4 or 5 was not ted bundy but danny rolling aka. The gainesville ripper .

@@JustanotherKZbinr771 my mom is crazy as he'll (in a good way) lol. But she's right. I've watched plenty of interviews where the killers described how they picked their victims up and what was said and what not . Countless times they'd say the victims would beg and plead. People need to understand, that's what they want. The more you struggle the worst it's going to be. Their adrenalin is kicked in , we can't let ours be. She talked to that man and he had a blank stare , looking forward driving. Her giving the reaction she did threw him off I'm sure. Guy probably waited too, thinking he was going to be able to take his sweet time. In their world, the worst part for them is getting caught.

If it was Ted (& using common sense) I don't think he would have let her out of the car that easily or without offering to help her gather whatever she wanted just so he could keep her within his grasp.. Narcissistic psychopaths such as he are more smart than that. When on a mission for whatever fix they're into its dam near impossible to "outsmart" them or play them at their own game.. The ONLY reason he let the woman on this video go was because she no longer fit his "fix" Yes her go yet STILL assaulted her in some way.

@@savannahherrera8441 I'm assuming French quarter, broad daylight. , busy streets. I do think half of the thrill is the initial fight/struggle. If you're not putting up a fight then perhaps that would "turn them off" but that in itself would be considered "beating them at their own g as me" if it worked. Well never know who that man was or if he was no good. Common sense. Picking up random women hitchhiking and no way to get back out of the passenger side , is questionable. My moms alive and well. That's all that matters.

Good point. I wonder if he did have an ex that had long brown hair. Maybe that has mistreated him. I wonder if she knows about it, that she's probably responsible for him going crazy. Yet again, he could just be crazy all on his own. But who knows, it's definitely something to think about though.

A woman he had been engaged to...not the woman with the little girl he dated for years, a different one before that. Plus, he eventually found out that his 'mother' was actually his grandmother and his 'sister' was really his mother. Back then having illegitimate child made life hard and was shameful.

0.0 you're right. I mean if it was along the route that she escaped, liked jumped out of the vehicle, then a drive might be relevant. but sometimes for victims it can be a relief to be able to say they are past this point. definitely could be triggering, though. they probably asked her if she would be okay with it. Or they must have. It's the only way.

@@maul5578+ Well, that's a bit of a strong claim to make. I can certainly see why you'd suggest it, though. Except, that's not really something we can outright state, because there is no proof of demonic forces existing, or having influence over Ted Bundy. The eye thing is very scary, but his eyes were only said to 'go black' when ge was talking about his victims, or when he was about to commit a murder. This, to me, sounds like a pupilary response to how his brain processed these things. Your pupils are always fluctuating, but they respond significantly to a number of things, including emotions. Pupilary contraction is a common fear response. It happens when your brain detects a perceived threat. Dilation, on the other hand, in terms of emotions, is usually to do with sexual arousal. Given Bundy's history, this doesn't seem like a far-fetched theory at all. His pupils dilate when talking about his victims, because he's reliving the lust he felt at that time. The thrill of the kill. Do you get me? Your eyes also respond to light, as a defensive mechanism. Your pupils dilate in the dark, to heighten your senses, and help you better see obscured potential threats, and they contract in the face of bright light, so your eyes don't get damaged. Your pupilary state may fluctuate, however, because of the constant shift in atmosphere. The camera pointing in a direction that causes the place Bundy is in to darken, will automatically make him seem immediately appear 'darker.' And if the camera moves very abruptly, then his pupils may fluctuate at the moment from the change, and may seem impossibly dilated. And this, of course, is assuming that his eyes aren't already dilated due to his emotional thoughts.
