“My Father’s Songs,” perhaps the most personal song on Adamson's forthcoming album Landing Place. Recounting the relationship with her late father, Stuart Adamson (Big Country/The Skids), Adamson takes us on a journey of reconnection and remembrance.
Although the song is co-written with producer Dean Owens who conceived the melody and hook line during a morning meditation, it is clear that the story is uniquely Adamson’s. In the lines “Now I listen to my father with the wind howling through the trees/From hero's tales to pain and truth/Sweet Celtic melodies.” we learn how she “never knew her father until she sang her father’s songs.” The slide guitar solo echoes these sentiments played by Jon Mackenzie on Adamson's father’s Antigua Burst Fender Strat.
