I live in a self built geodesic dome we started in 1980. Very efficient. Very comfortable and flexible with many possibilities for interior designs. I love mine.

Monolithic domes, like this, are the best kind (made from a one piece shell of concrete). They are extremely strong, very insulated (with foam), and not prone to leaking. The problem with Geodesic domes is all the seams where the triangles meet. Eventually, these seams may leak.

I’m typically a very linear person and struggle with curves unless they are do e very well. This is incredible- it’s curved but still clean looking and less “artsy/whimsical” - I’m in love

There is a huge dome in upstate New York . Just past Woodstock, it was the film critic, Judith Crist .. My mom used to clean for her , she lived in the city , but The dome was her country home.. I’ve got fond memories of her big parties with the likes of Woody Allen , and Marlin Brando .. As a kid it was just another party….. Cool house, google it ❤

I also live in a dome home! Mine is a 50 foot diameter monolithic institute’s dome and half buried on the north side. It’s very energy efficient but we are not off grid. I’d love to chat some time!

I honestly don't understand why more homes don't take advantage of the fact that the temperature doesn't fluctuate much beyond 65 under the frostline. There should be a network of underground communities in places above sea level. Hobbits and ants know what is up

It's amazing that solar can run this place - so many trees and the panel set I saw was nearly hidden. Property must be in eastern WA...? I've lived in western WA and while summers of old were great, these days, weather there stinks - hence my move to sunnier climes. Thx for the tour - love the curves.
