Hey Pro, here’s a tip for combat, you should utilize the heat meter/takedowns more, when the blue flame symbol appears on the top right press triangle for takedown animations that would deal a huge chunk of damage to your enemies. You could often grab your enemies to do a heat action. Hope that helps!

Don't forget you can also block instead of dodge, it works great for the Rush style, since it can be used the same time to attack, so you pretty much dodge and weave and punch and the 're-guard' ability is very good that as it allows you to immediately start blocking again if the enemy broke through your blocks And the song for Kuzes battle is called 'Pledge of Demon' As ridiculous as parts get in the Yakuza series they are fantastic and have some quite dark elements

Few quick tips: 1) Using same heat move in one same battle is significantly ineffective. With that said, different styles have variations of same heat move. Such as, stomping heat attack. Rush and Brawler have their own variants, so using stomp as Rush and later as Brawler is good way to avoid losing efficiency. 2) In next chapters you will mostly have free roam, so be sure to keep medical items at full supply. You earn enough money to always maintain T3 healing items on you, look for pharmacy. I recommend having 5 of each(Tauriner, Toughness, Staminan), to save 5 slots for extra items, like for substories. 3) Heat Actions are very contextual. Varying weapons, area, objects nearby, grabs, all can vary the heat action. Utilize that often, it's best damage moves you will have for almost whole game

it's great to see you getting into the series, I've been just catching up on the games myself, i started last year and it's been an absolute blast a few things, it's good to see you using the square, square, square, triangle combo on brawler, that's probably the best combo for that style grabs can be useful, I'm pretty sure you can shift the position of your grab by using L1/front left bumper, I'm not sure what the keybind is for PC, regardless, that means you can move around the enemy with an animation and change it from a front grab to a back grab and vice versa don't be afraid to go engage in side missions, minigames and any of the other activities that the games throw at you, they may seem gimmicky, but they are all actually really fun, and they make the world feel alive, also the side content in these games are some of the wackiest and most hilarious side missions in any game I've ever seen finally, don't be afraid to experiment in combat, switch styles up, try to attack with one, evade and switch to another, try out some of the grab moves, complicated heat actions or combo flourishes that the game has, the combat can be really fun and dynamic if you give it the chance to be

Depending of where Kiryu is, pressing triangle while grabbing an enemy will have a different animation. Same thing if you're holding any object and press triangle.

Here are some combat tips Professional Use L1 to block attacks. In Brawler, you will put up your guard while in Rush, you will bop-and-weave. Always stock up on heals. You can regenerate your health by buying food from convenience stores and energy drinks from pharmacies. Whenever you have the money, buy upgrades. Cash is rapidly changing hands in this game, so don't worry about spending too much. If you are going one-on-one, hold R1 to lock on. It'll make you focus your movement on them, letting you circle them, and some moves require you to have R1 held. Use Heat Actions when possible. It gives you an opportunity to put out a decent amount of damage and maybe even turn the fight in your favour. Look for the blue in the top right corner of the screen. However, repeating the same Heat Action over and over again will cause it to do less and less damage.

right, should probably mention that using the same Heat Actions over and over in a single fight make them weaker with each use, meaning the most damage a heat action does is during the first time you use it. so be sure to use a variety to deal the most amount of damage. also be sure to stock up on healing items via convenience stores or drug stores. hope this helps

Glad to see you enjoying the game! A few tips when it comes to combat in this game if you see this comment! Remember to utilize your heat moves, (the triangle finishers), for easy KOs with enemies. You don’t have to grab enemies to do them, for some of them you just have to reach certain conditions, like knocking enemies on the ground. Just pay attention to the top right screen for when you can do your heat moves! You can also do heat moves by picking up weapons so long as you have the heat for it. Also, I believe you can do more with your grabs so try out different buttons when you grab someone. And last tip, it’s important to stock up on healing items from stores in the city, the long battles will provide you with them but it’s best to already come prepared for long battles, which the game will tell you anyways. Anyways I hope you have a great time with the game, I’m enjoying this playthrough so far!

Hey Pro, I am really enjoying your playthrough so far. I have some tips for you, you may already know these but in case you dont - You can buy healing items from the convenience stores in the map if you want to stock up before long fights - In boss fights, try to dash around and behind the boss and combo them from behind. This will stun lock them for a good amount of hits and make it easier for to you to beat them (if that's your style) - Anytime the game asks you if you are ready, this means a lot of fighting will ensue. -Make sure to keep upgrading Kiryu consistently -Explore the map, the amount of side content in this game is really the best part along with the story of course. Its also a good opportunity to get money That's all, I dont want to spoil anything else. Good luck

A little more of an in depth explonation of the heat system and heat actions, usually having more heat gives you access to special abilities such as having super armor or having more combo speed, some of them will be locked behind upgrades but all are pretty useful once you learn how to use them. As for heat actions they are context sensitive, like i mean is kiriyu holding a weapon? Is he grabbing an enemy? Is enemy on ground? Is enemy grabbed from behind facing a wall? Dont be afraid to take your time and experiment and figure out whats the most effective and fun. Also doing the same heat action over and over will cause reduced damage so thats another reason to always try to shake things up! Good luck and have fun! P.S. holding L2/ left bumper will ensure kiryu can't use heat actions, that way you wont accidentally mess with a combo or attack

A simple tip for you Pro, visit the convenience store all the time (or Don Quijote, this place is like some kind of superstore or something) and buy the Staminan drink to fill up your health and heat level, so when you're fighting a boss like Kuze, you can heal up. Also yeah, Kuze's theme are one of the best music in this game, glad you like it too! Just a friendly reminder: you can go into cenvenience stores and buy healing items. I didn't know at first either because the game doesn't tell you. Make sure you always have some heals in your inventory, especially before a big fight where the game even asks if you're ready to proceed.

Pro, you might wanna take a look at what kind of heat actions you can use, to check that go to the abilities section > press triange > a window will show you all kinds of heat actions you can use in different kinds of combat styles. For example, when fighting the big guy holding the couch you can simply use a heat action while in the Brawler Style to knock him out at once rather going back and forth getting one or two hits.

I should probably mention something important, but the more you use the same heat action, the less damage you do, so it’s important to switch it up by grabbing an opponent and pressing triangle in different places, like a wall or a guard rail, or when you have a weapon. Might not be true, but it helps to spice up gameplay. So try experimenting when you have the time. (Safer to go up against scrubs than actual bosses)

I studied History and ancient Philology about a decade ago. And in our Ancient Philology faculty we had a teacher who - I kid you not - looked like a friendlier, gentler Kuze. Right down to the slick backed hair and the suits. He even knew Japanese (and WAS Japanese). When I knew him he was doing his doctorate on the movie Troy compared to the original Iliad and how "correct" the movie was historically. Haven't met him in years, since I dropped out (major depression defeated me) and never talked much to him before that, because I am an antisocial freak. But I still think about him a lot.
