Nonono please DO NOT SAVE THE SIDE QUESTS til the end, it could make the progression much worse. Like the Business mini game which you will unlock later on and will earns you a ton of money, Krazy Kyo will help you later on. Learning moves from masters e.g Baccus for Brawler and Miss Tatsu for Beast will help you learn the essentials of the fighting style and unlock great skills for them. So please do some side quests when you encounter them. When you activate a side quest it is shown by a “!” on the map.

21:23 Yeah fun fact, there's a lot of real Japanese brands used in the Yakuza games as product placement. A lot of food items, drink items, billboards, and even down to some of the stores, cafes and restaurants you can go to in the game, exist in real life under the same brand names. It's one of the few games where product placement is done well. Its subtle, and doesn't feel like an ad at all. And it also makes the game's world feel more like real life than if they were to use fictional brands only like how GTA does.

Japanese words I learned from this game: Kane=money Gokudo=yakuza (term used more by Yakuza members like Kuze) Kumi/gumi=family Kumicho=patriarch/boss Kashira/gashira=family captain (if you think about it, just like Kazama is wakagashira of the Dojima family, so was Kenji from GTA III wakagashira of his family) Aniki=literally "big brother", but also means someone superior, like "sir" or "family lieutenant" Yaro=derogatory insult, might mean "bastard/piece of shit", depends on how you use it Chinpira=a petty crook. Refers to wannabe yakuza or idiots who try to be gangsters. It can also mean "punk-ass trash" Kanbu=another term for yakuza lieutenants Rengo=federation, alliance Anta= "you" Teme="you", but derogatory Fudosan=Real Estate company Kyodai= literally "brother", "sister" or "sibiling", but it's also a high rank in the yakuza. If two or more yakuza become kyodai, that means they're brothers for life, and swear an oath to protect each other

Quick tip. When you are eating at restaurants the game rewards you for trying all the food options at least once. You should always eat something different at each restaurant to try the whole menu eventually. The items you have tried are marked with a checkmark to the left of the items name when choosing. It can be difficult to hit someone who is on the ground without waiting for them to get up, but if you hold R1 to target them then you can use a heat action on someone on the ground. If you don't have any heat, or don't want to use a heat action you can hold L2 to make the heat action prompt go away allowing you to use normal moves, under these conditions you can hit triangle to deliver ground kicks to someone your standing over but you only if you are standing still so you need to deliberately stop for at least a few frames (you can't walk into a ground kick) people who are kicked when they are down get up faster and can't be kicked twice. Also if someone is blocking you can grab them, because grabs can't be blocked. Also while holding R1 to lock onto an enemy you can dodge to the side to get behind them, or with Rush style you can dodge towards them to close the distance for a rush combo to avoid shadow boxing.

Some items you acquire in the game (such as that Swiss Watch at 1:12:20) can be sold for cash at the pawn shop. In fact, there are certain items that don’t really serve any sort of purpose and are just there to provide some assistance when you’re in need of some extra money. Keep an eye out for any gold, silver, or bronze plates you encounter. Those can sell a ton and are usually the first items I sell off whenever I’m at the pawn shop.

Additionally, you can gather knives and spam heat action on him, even with repeated ones they're significantly effective. But guns mentioned above are safest route. Kiryu cannot yet freely buy weapons, but there will be opportunity to do so at chapter 5(I think) Edit: I forgot to mention, but there is benefit to losing to Mr. Shakedown, at least when you buy certain upgrade at Shrine. Hey Professional. Love seeing you pick up this series. With regards to the Substories, it is entirely your choice when to do it, but it is advisable to do those concurrently with the main story. Not only do they offer a reprieve from some of the heavy stuff in the main story, but many times they are also quite humorous and you'll find them to be quite funny. Secondly, with regards to Mr. Shakedown and the like, you should find an item called an Encounter Finder (either try your luck at one of the 10000, 100000, or 1000000 vending dream machines or you get it from a certain substory, but only if you choose the correct option). With that, you'll always know when Mr Shakedown is around you and choose to fight or flee. There's also the Trouble Finder which basically shows all the punks who would pick a fight with your character on the map) but I can't remember how to obtain that :P. Thirdly, you should also do the Side Business Mini Game, because as many other commenters have said in this and the previous videos, not only do you earn a lot of money, but you will also unlock the 4th Fighting Style, which for the future games becomes their canon fighting styles. Admittedly, in my opinion, there is much more motivation to unlock the 4th Fighting Style as quickly as possible. To quickly prosper in the Side Business Mini Game, it is best to do Side Stories because characters like Krazy Kyo aka the flip-flopping Hardcore Hooligan will help you out. Also, wherever there are friendship meters to be filled, visit them regularly and fill said friendship meters because you get rewards for the same. Finally, to return on the matter of Mr. Shakedown, he is also a method to earn money. Mind you this only works for Kiryu. Essentially, you lose all your money to Mr Shakedown (just take the beating, don't bother defending). Then, when you find him again later (this is why the Trouble Finder is so helpful), beat him up and get your money back, plus some interest. It is rather tedious, but it works. Have fun playing Yakuza 0, Professional. Can't wait for you to do the rest of the series in the future and for you to drop some Yakuza lore videos in the future.

Progression Basics Tip: Whenever you complete a completion list task (viewable in the pause menu) you will earn a "Completion Point" (DON'T ABBREVIATE IT). You can use these Completion Points at a shrine near the middle of the city to unlock passive upgrades that range from longer sprint duration, special weapons, stat boosts, business minigame speedups (its like the businesses in Vice City Stories but with its own story and progression to go along with it). There are many ways to earn completion points (most you will complete without noticing) so it's worth to take a look at the list once a while.

Battle tips regarding heat actions, inspired by 51:07 and Kuze boss fight from the previous video: There is a wide variety of heat actions (special moves) that depend on items, weapons, environments and styles: - You can pick up random items from the environment with the Grab button, and do heat actions on enemies (grabbing items or enemies themselves is not available for Rush style for Kiryu). - Weapons and even basic items - like an umbrella for example - can be bought at certain places, equipped, and used for heat actions or just fight in general. - There are unique heat actions that depend on your and your enemy's specific location. Doing a heat action after grabbing an enemy while being near a wall, car, or a fence can produce different moves. As for boss fights, I noticed that you used the same one heat action on Kuze - which is perfectly fine - but I want to mention that heat actions tend to lose their damage after each use during the battle, so using different moves is best when you want to maximise your damage. Lastly, stronger enemies might/will resist your grabbing, so gotta be careful with the timing or in general - especially with Mr. Shakedown.

Combat Basics Tip: Every fighting style is viable for every situation. For example you don't have to use rush only against single opponents etc etc. Best method is to switch between the styles depending on the opportunity. Glad to see you continue the series Professional! I’ll try to give tips whenever I can so feel free to read About your fighting styles, Beast Mode is slow but definitely great for dealing with crowds, if you have weapons around you then your enemies will definitely drop like flies, but its not recommended for one on one encounters due to how slow it is, but it will get stronger the more you level up and become more dependable, so don’t sleep on it! All of the styles have their ups and downs of course. Rush is good for one on one which you’ve already figured out, but you can’t really break enemies guards with it, at least not until you level it up to be stronger, but it’s great for just getting out of the way. And brawler is obviously a good middle ground between the two. Mr. Shakedown can seem intimidating at first but he’s actually not too bad to deal with if you dodge accordingly, so imo Rush is best for dealing with him because you can deliver fast hits while also getting out of the way in time, he’s slow so try to move out of the way when he winds up his attacks. And lastly, there are a few sub stories where you can actually unlock new moves for certain styles, like going to Ms. Tatsu for training, so keep an eye out for those!

In my opinion the beast style is the most noob friendly, it has hyper armor good crowd control and if you have a lot of items around it’s the best to use. Also, you should make better use of the lock on system. You don’t have to hold it, but it makes it really easy in 1v1’s to land combos and evade better which also increases your heat bar. Speaking of heat, there is a good benefit in keeping your heat bar high, it makes the rush style so much faster and makes it really good. Also, go to the convienence stores around the map to buy stuff like staminan royale so you can heal and gain heat back, makes the game a lot easier.

Been enjoying your playthrough so far. Great to see you dabble into this series, but I notice you seem to have a bit of trouble regarding some things so lemme just play the backseater for a sec: -You'll probably already have gotten this from some of the other comments, but purchasing items isn't just bound to one item at a time. Pressing right on the D-pad allows you to increase the amount you buy of that item. You can also purchase different items at once using this. -Try to make use of the environment a bit more. Heat actions (or as you call them 'specials') aren't just only bound to situations like grabbing or someone that's laying down. Almost every item, surface or even obscure things like telephone poles, fences, guardrails and even cars can be used in heat actions. Heck, even the enemies themselves sometimes can be used in heat actions against each other. All you need to do is activate the right condition like for instance carrying a bycicle to an enemy or dragging an enemy to a lightpole. Please try it out! -There are a lot, and I mean A LOT of sidequests in this game. Some of them are quirky side stuff (like the hooligan thing you did this episode) and others provide extra context for future characters in the series (notably substory 19, 20 and 51). I know you want to do them at the end, but I wouldn't recommend it. You can get a lot of benefits from some of them, ranging from items like gear/weapons all the way to boatloads of cash. Even some of your upgrades are locked behind training substories with the characters you meet (profile image-like square icons on the map). Substories do often tend to take some time though. Whether you end up doing some of them at the end or not is up to you. -Something more trivial, but the inventory screen with your healing items (the one with the 20 squares) isn't your only item tab. Normally you should be able to switch to your other tabs using L1 or R1 while on the inventory screen. The items in the other tabs aren't consumable though, these often are special story items or stuff reserved for minigames or the individual major side activities of the 2 protagonists (you will get to these around chapter 5 I think). -Just like the substories, there are tremendous amounts of activities in the Yakuza games in general. These are often indicated by the purple buildings on the map. Please try out some. There are lots of minigames such as gambling halls, darts, pool, bowling, etc. Then there's also stuff like karaoke, the disco club, pocket circuit and the SEGA Arcade hall you walked pointed out this video. -Regarding Mr Shakedown, I'd like to cite a phrase once said by Sir Max0r the wise: "Like all human suffering this can become a business opportunity. Mr Shakedown is actually a form of banking. Whatever amount he robs from you, the game will add 15% more. If you're up for the challenge of defeating Harambe, the returns are worth it." -And finally, some more insight surrounding the combat. Whenever you use Rush Style I notice you dodging the enemy once and trying to then circle around to hit them. Try using the lock-on feature ( holding R1) more for situations like this. This thing is tremendously helpful for focussing on a singular enemy. Rush style is indeed very quick and useful for dodging, but it comes at the disadvantage of not being able to pick up items. It also comes with less heat actions than the other styles. Brawler is good for both large groups as well as singular enemies. It's a more balanced style that can potentially give great damage output when used right. Beast style is probably the most overpowered stance in the game (yes even without items). The damage output was, and still is so insane that even the studio itself thought they probably should've nerfed it (which they did in a way, you will get to this once you get to this). You're highly likely already aware of this, but your amount of heat rises when attacking enemies. Your heat drains over time when not attacking or by getting hit by enemies. You can also raise heat using healing items often found in convenience stores or the pharmacy. Stuff like Tauriners are specifically used for heat, whereas Staminans give you both a moderate amount of heat and health. Toughness drinks are primarily used for healing.

Do not fight Mr Shakedown until you have enough health and heals in your inventory And also you need more upgrades for the Beast style, that's how you can beat him as far as I can remember, you could try to beat him with Rush but it's probably not recommended

Hey Pro, pick up and use the environmental items whenever you can, things like signs, bicycles, pliers, traffic cones, and also do environmental heat actions as well, like introducing a car door to a guy’s head, and bicycles are really good against multiple enemies, the bicycle heat action also inflicts a lot of damage too, as long as the bike is still somewhat intact.

Most restaurants (Orange) only have a dine in option, for takeaway either go to grocery stores or the Smile restaurant As for health and heat, just hit the drugstore and buy Staminan Royals

Progression Basics Tip: Its best to do substories as they unlock periodically as you progress through chapters. At a certain point in the game you can get a equipment item that reveals every available side mission on the world map. You should NEVER leave the side missions until the end because that will cause you a mountain of problems. The game will have a lot of slow paced moments where nothing stressful/urgent is happening which is where you can go roam around the map to do substories without worrying about breaking the pace of the main story.

Combat Basics Tip: There is a number beside your heat bar at the top left. That tells you which "Gear" you are on. The higher the gear the faster your attack speed is. Some heat actions (special moves you do by pressing Triangle) can only be done in specific gears that will be told in skill descriptions. Heat will start draining if you don't attack enemies for a bit. Basically you can either save your heat for a faster attack speed or use it on heat actions for a instant output of damage. After playing for some time you will be able to tell when to go with either option, it comes naturally

For each style, there’s a trainer to unlock 5 useful abilities per style. First you need to unlock any ability connected to the M orbs as those are the abilities you’ll learn from the masters. Hover over a M orb to see the order it will be unlocked(You have to unlock the first one first then the second and so on until you unlock the fifth and final one). Kamoji is the rush trainer and only available at night, Miss Tatsu is the beast trainer and is available day or night(to my knowledge), Baccus is the brawler trainer and only available at night. You can find a trainer on the map by the icon of a person(similar to the side mission icon just instead of a exclamation point it’s a person) Miss Tatsu you just take a taxi to the pier where you can also fish. You also have to beat the story of the business mini games in order to buy all the abilities of the fighting styles. All styles have there uses, but you can easily play the whole game playing with just one. Best thing when grabbing is pressing 🔺 to do a kick that sends the enemy down or O again to throw the enemy as doing the ▪️combo when grabbing is only good at gaining heat but leaves you open to enemies attack or won’t work on stronger enemies as they break your almost immediately. Throws are different depending on if you are in brawler or beast. Rush only has a guardbreak move instead of a grab, so heat actions will be limited in rush, even when having all its abilities. When you get certain abilities in each style, becoming drunk(shown by a bottle on the left side of the screen and changes color based on how drunk you are) and having low health (when health bar is flashing red) you get benefits but you don’t need to utilize that. When your health is full you can’t eat food at restaurants unless you get the ability at the shrine, drinks especially alcoholic drinks you can drink until your fully drunk.

DO NOT SAVE THE SUBSTORIES AND SIDE ACTIVITIES TILL THE END! Some substories and Side Activities get locked off as you progress through the chapters, and you will not get another chance to do them until the post-game! There are even stretches where you are deadbolted onto the main story and cannot do substories and/or side activities!

You should try grabbing enemies and using heat actions.cars, wall, fences, almost everything on the street has a special move, most weapons and objects too
@cookiethedutchie44755 күн бұрын
You can do the heat actions on enemies when they’re stunned and also you can grab them and drag them to a ledge of wall. Then you have the environmental heat actions. You can pick up a crate or trash can and throw it at an enemy with triangle, and there’s others too so you don’t need to do them when an enemy is on the ground

100% you should play the Sub Stories as they unlock, its part of the entire experience and progression for levelling up will be ruined without it. Not to mention unlockables and what not. Definitely play Sub Stories DURING the chapters.

When you pick up an object or a weapon while in heat mode, you can perform a heat action just by getting near an enemy. This is useful in boss fights also.

It's better to do the side quests, I've gotten good equipment, good business partners and good moves from other styles. Sometimes its better to do the side quests before the end of the game. But it's your choice professional 👍 Edit: Try some heat moves for more cash and damage, you can also stomp on enemies by pressing triangle.
