Mard and Kuli, both were block busters.... Manmohsn Desai always preferred Rafi, do its fair enough. Infact aftervRafi's death, Manmohan Desai found Shabbir Kumar and Munna Aziz as they sung similar to Rafi. Yes Naushad was a Kishore Kumar haters... i agree.

@RockGandaBand How old are you? what kind of thought process is this? It's a collaborative effort. It requires composer, Lyricist, Singer, Actor. No one is indispensable. Otherwise we would not have more than one singer, singer, lyricist, composer.

One more thing i there, sir. Kishore Da single-handedly ruled the male bastion of singing for 20 years from 1968 to 1987 till his death. From 1968 onwards Kishore Da garnered 85-90 share of male singers' songs and rest 10-15% songs went to other male singers including Rafi, Mahendra Kapoor and Manna Dey. Such was the domination of Kishore Da for 20 years which is unparallel as far as the male singers are concerned. Once again, thanks a lot for the informative video.

On the contrary it was Rafi who single handedly ruled the male singers from 1940s to 1969 and had more than 90 percent of the songs and the remaining percent of songs were divided amongst likes of Mukesh, Manna Dey, Talat Mehmood and Kishore Kumar. Whereas Kishore Kumar dominated the singing scenario from 1969 to 1980, and then singers like Suresh wadekar, Shabbir Kumar, Mohammad Azeez, Amit Kumar etc came into limelight. One thing is evident that when Rafi dominated the scenario he had top level competition from great and talent singers and when Kishore Kumar dominated the scenario he had only Rafi as a great competitor,the others were just mediocre singers.

Naushad was a fanatic muslim. He even hated Kishore for marrying Madhubala , someone who was suffering from debilitating heart disease and doctors had given up on her survival. It is documented fact that few months before her death, she was called to meet Naushad on the pretext to help her get cured through some peer/fakir. There she was emotionally manipulated against Kishore kumar that led to serious differences between her and Kishore. I would add the name of Dilip kumar ( aka Yusuf Khan ) in this list too.. somewhere at the top

Mohit Datta saab if someone prefers someone over another, he is not a hater, but we must respect their choice. Because Manmohan Desai preferred Rafi saab over Kishore Kumar does not make him a Kishore hater. If we live by your example and this is applied than we can say you are a Rafi hater making Kishore content only. I can agree however about Nasuhad being biased towards Kishore. But Rajendra Kumar , Manmohan Desai is not true. Please grow up

Dharmender prefes rafi and Super star Rajesh khanna preferred Kishore sahab but nobody condemn both of them because it's matter of choice but naushad's case is different altogether.

संजय गांधी के कारण ही किशोर कुमार के गीतों पर आकाशवाणी पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया था। जब रफ़ी साहब को पता चला तो उन्होंने इंदिरा गांधी से कहकर बैन हटवाकर किशोर कुमार को एक नया जीवन दिया, क्योंकि रफ़ी साहब जानते थे कि उन्हें किसी की गायकी से कोई खतरा नहीं है, वे वह मुकाम पा चुके हैं कि किसी भी गायक के लिए वहां तक पहुंचना मुश्किल ही नहीं, नामुमकिन है। ऐसे थे रफ़ी साहब, वे सबके हित में काम करते थे। सच्चा कलाकार इसी तरह फ़रिश्ता होता है। किशोर कुमार अच्छे गायक थे और दोनों के बीच बहुत प्रेम था।

@ they were all supremely talented, no doubt about that but it does not mean that everyone necessarily likes their songs. And if one does not for whatever reason- it is not hate it is just a personal taste. One who loves classical may not like KK and Mukesh - one who likes Sufi style may not like any of them and the possibilities goes on. I do love all three with Rafi Saab still being the supreme but if one does not like, it is ok.

Those are the time when people went to cinema halls not only to watch their favourite actors but to listen immortal numbers. That's why inspite of having so many haters viewers and listeners made Gurudev their real hero. There are songs where Kishore Da sang background scores to heroines/ mother/ and all. How many male singers got this unique opportunity for their entire career I don't know. Since he himself was a superb actor he could adapt any actor's feelings and easily became their voice. My heartiest tribute to the great man ♥️👏👏

Let's not forget that, for the last not 1, not 2, not 3 but for the last 5 decades, nobody, absolutely nobody remembers Naushad. But throughout the last 5 decades & many more decades to come, everyone will remember the legend Kishoreda & his evergreen songs. Secondly, nobody remembers songs from Manmohan Desai's Coolie & Mard sung by Shabbir Kumar imitating Rafisaab, but people still remember & enjoy Kishoreda's songs from Desai 's Amar Akbar Anthony sung for Amitabh (incidentally, both Desai & Bachchan, Kishoreda's haters). Lastly, nobody remembers Rajendra Kumar's songs by Mohammed Rafi, but people still listen & enjoy (& will continue to enjoy) Kishoreda's songs sung for Rajesh Khanna & Amitabh. This is the greatness & popularity of Kishore Kumar.

Every old time singer was very good. It is natural that stars & music durectos had their choice of singers. Many stars & music directors did injustice to a great singer like Rafi sahab due to personal likings. So is in case of Kishore Kumar. But you are wrong to opine that songs sung by Rafi saheb for Rajendra Kumar are not remembered. They are sill being heard. As can be seen the popularity of Rafi sahab is not only maintained is going on increasing day by day even after 43 years of his death Many songs sung by Kishoreda in last years are not at all remembered.

Some 30 years back I was infront of great singers in a jalsa at renowned composer's house at Kolkata where Manna Dey, Anup Ghoshal, and many legendary persons were sharing their thoughts. Pt Ghoshal Shab was of view singers are of different categories 1. Depth of Voice - Hemant Kumar ji 2. Sweet to ears - Rafi Shab 3. Effortless Singing - Mukesh ji 4. Class of Techniques - Manna Dey And above all 5. Soulful Voice - Gurudev Kishore Kumar. I think all of you will agree.🙏🙏

Also add Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar of the Laxmikant Pyarelal duo in the list, being the main composer of the duo he always prefered Rafi's voice in majority of the films and whenever he got chance he was eager to make Rafi sing the songs in place of KishoreDa and whenever there was Manmohan Desai film 90% of the songs would be by Rafi instead of KishoreDa, this cannot be mere coincidence but pure biasedness and subtle hatred in Laxmikant's part, I've even heard he insulted KishoreDa in mid 80s interview to filmfare calling his voice "loud and irritating" somewhere but I cannot confirm the authenticity of this news, in any case there are many instances of his bitterness for eg in 1979/80 Karz movie when he insisted on singing the chartbuster song "Om shanti Om" in place of KishoreDa, thank god subhash Ghai intervened otherwise this song would've been a disaster instead of being a disco anthem in God's voice i.e one and only KishoreDa

अमिताभ की अकल ठिकाने लगा दी थी अपने प्यारे किशोर दा ने। वो फोटो अभी भी पड़ी है जब बेशर्मअमिताभ बिना बुलाए किशोर दा के बेटे के जन्मदिन की पार्टी में दारा सिंह जी के कहने पर गए। इसके पालनहार अमर सिंह थे। जिसने स्टार टीवी के समीर नायर के माध्यम से इसको कौन बनेगा करोड़पति दिलवाया था। राजेंद्र कुमार स्टारडम और एक्टिंग के मामले में काफी निचले पायदान पर आते हैं। दिलीप कुमार की कॉपी करता था। नौशाद का पतन अपनी आंखों से किशोर दा ने कई साल तक देखा। जीवन के आखरी 50 साल नौशाद के पास कोई भी काम नहीं था। गुमनामी की जिंदगी बिताई उसने 1965 के बाद। मनमोहन देसाई का दिमाग का स्तर एक slumdog वाला था। दो भाई मेले में बिछड़े फिर आखिर में मिल गए जैसी फॉर्मूला फिल्में ही बना पाता था। मरा भी कंगाली में।

Hater is not a correct terminology. That way all singers had good and bad time. People also have their own preferences which does not mean that they hate others. It is like when one likes sugar over jaggery which does not mean that one hates jaggery. Dilip Kumar used to like Talat but had to take Rafi when he was monopoly in 1952 onwards. This same actor also has only one song with play back by Kishor Kumar and had to go to his house to meet him. Kishor Kumar had gone out with strict instruction to gate keeper no to allow any one inside his bungalow, Dilip Kumar had to wait outside till Kishor Kumar returned. At least over 6 songs were sung by Rafi sahab for Kishor Kumar when Kishor was in lead role. Kishor also refused to sing for Pran in Upkar 1966 though he had earlier sung for Pran in film Half Ticket. Even Salil Da refused song to Kishor for film Naukri where Kishor was hero and already showed Salil Da his earlier songs solo and with Lata in film Fareb 1953 & Jiddi 1948 but even then Salil Da refused. At last Kishor tried influence through Ashok Kumar and this is how he got all songs in that film and were hit. There are several such incidents for other singers including Lata didi. Sirji once again a great presentation. Time is a great leveller. Most of his haters will fade into obscurity in another 15-20 years while Kishore Kumar's songs will outlive all of us. Just look at the responses to his songs in channels like KZbin. It is simply mind boggling. Songs like "O mere dil ke chein", "Pal pal dil ke paas", "Mera Jeevan Kora Kagaz", "Ye shyam mastani", "Jeevan se bari ter aankhen" to name a few (the list is endless) will be immortalized over the years and will enthrall generations to come.

Kishore Kumar WAS / IS / WILL FOREVER BE the best male playback singer of Bollywood. I would go to the extent of saying that Rafi was no where near the class of Kishore Da as Rafi was just a copybook singer with no improvisation and innovation. Rafi was projected as the best singer by some cartel in Bollywood, although he was just an average singer, nothing more than that. I reckon that Mahendra Kaopoor was a better singer than Rafi, but never came on top from the domination of Kishore Da after 1968 and Rafi from 1960 till 1968. Even Mohd Aziz was a better singer than Rafi in my opinion.

Though Kishore sahaab is also a good singer . But he has not sung classical songs like Mohd Rafi sahaab and Mannada ji . Secondly Mohd Rafi sahaab has given play back to Kishore sahaab for a classical song Man Mora baawra and for some more songs . Mohd Rafi sahaab is always number one from 1948 to 1980 Jab Rafi sahaab ne kisi dharm guru ke kehne par gaano se sanyaas le liye the ek saal tak . Uske baad Kishore sahaab chamke Phir Rafi sahaab waapas aaye aur do teen saal mein apni no 1 position haasil karliye . Yahi sacchai hai.

Thanks a lot, sir for the video. Your assessment is correct especially about Amitabh Bachchan. This is a well-established fact that Rajesh Khanna was the first super star of Bollywood and he graciously accepted in his interviews that if he became a super star it was only and only because of Kishore Da. Same is true that if Amitabh became a super star (I think he was / is not a super star), it was also because of Kishore Da. Sharabi was the last film of Amitabh foe which Kishore Da sang songs, and this is also a fact that after Sharabi in 1985 till to date no song of Amitabh's films has been a super hit. This is on record. Same is true with Rajendra Kumar who a super flop in 70's and 80's. Same is true with Naushad who was a super flop after 1968 when Kishore da came onto scene. Someone who hated Kishore Da from 1968 onwards was totally annihilated from the scene.

As a Singer Kishore Kumar is versatile.. But, unfortunately his character as a family man is a failure.. (Many may not know this factor). Kishore Kumar was an institution by himself. Nobody has any business to comment about his abilities as a Singer....He was a song writer, a script writer, a composer, producer and director . Has anyone to date dared to attempt doing what he did. It's not that it was just a one off attempt....he made several films where he did everything from pre production to post production .....Writer, Producer, Director, Lyrics writer, Music Director , Singer , script writer and Actor..... Hi Mohitji, I’m great fan of Kishore Da,I was fortunate to meet him in person at his house through Yogita Bali on 4 th of July 1978, he stood up and hugged me as if I am his old friend,talking about haters they don’t know Dada is the only singer who had very good throw of voice which non of the singers had , secondly Dada’s generation was in 70s onward and the haters are of old generation so they did not understood Dada’s quality of singing

Good point. Esp. R.D. Burman. Ironically, most of Panchamda's early popularity and awards were due to Mohd. Rafi. I am not sure if C. Ramachandra can be labeled Rafi-hater - he liked to sing his own songs. Or he used Talat Mahmood. There aren't very many C. Ramachandra songs by Mukesh, Kishore, Manna Dey, or other male playback singers, other than Talat Mahmood

Hater is a very strong word. Naushad not liking Kishore da was due to Kishore Kumar's lack of training in classical songs. Amitabh was jealous of Kishore Kumar. Rajendra Kumar & Desai also thought Kishore da was a lesser singer compared to their favorite Rafi Saab. They didn't hate Kishore da per se but couldn't ever accept that Kishore Kumar overshadowed Rafi saab in 70s

By 1969 did we notice? All the previous big stars were too old to pass off as heroes. Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar, Shammi Kapoor. Dev Anand, Dharmendra and Shashi Kapoor maintained their youthful looks and smoothly transitioned into the 70s. All three had great songs by Kishoreda in addition to Rafi Saab also singing for them. Dev Anand actually got the best songs of Hemantda, Rafi Saab and Kishoreda combined.

भाई साहब, राजेन्द्र कुमार पे तो रफी साहब की आवाज ही सूट होती थी ठीक वैसे जैसे राजेश खन्नाजी पे किशोरदा की। राजेन्द्र कुमार की लगभग ज्यादातर फिल्मों में रफी साब की ही आवाज होती थी। राजेश खन्ना की भी यही कोशिश रहती थी कि उनकी फिल्मों में अन्य सिंगर के बदले किशोर कुमार ही गाने गाएँ। तो क्या उनको रफी हेटर कहेंगे? किसी भी एक्टर की यह कोशिश होती है कि उसकी फिल्म के गाने वो सिंगर गाए जिसकी आवाज उन पे ज्यादा सूट होती है। ईसी लिए उनको किशोर हेटर या रफी हेटर केहना गलत होगा।

I beg to differ, Amitabh's superstardom was established through Deewar and Zanjeer and both these movies had no Kishore songs picturized on Amitabh, similarly Kabhie Kabhie and Trishul....A lot of Amitabh movies had very average music but movies were still a superhit....Amitabh was a superstar and he hardly needed heroines or Kishore songs for success, his movies still ruled the box office and he was very well aware of that fact.... Players, film stars, musicians' have their best form times and it is illogical to say that Rajendra Kumar or Naushad didn't succeed in 70s because they dint use Kishore....It is just that that their time was over....No one lives and rules forever, remember that. And if Naushad, didnt use Kishore at all in 50s-60s, not surprising either because Rafi was everyone's 1st choice anyways in those days...Naushad even used Asha Bhosale also very rarely....His music was mostly centered around Rafi-Lata. Manmohan Desai was a diehard fan of Rafi, like so many other stars and music directors, and that was their personal choice....

Yes, Rajendra Kumar also personally requested Kishore Da to let Amit Kumar to lend voice for his son Kumar Gaurav in love story film in 1980/81 and Kishore Kumar agreed, also when Kishore Da passed away on 13th October 1987, Rajendra Kumar was amongst the attendees of the funeral

Hindi cinema has had very few great singers. The big three Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore all came after Saigal the first major singer. These big three have backed every major etar from Dilip Kumar onwards till they assed away. Just three big male singers supported thirty big heroes at least for many decades. The stars have come and gone but FM radio still plays old songs of these singers especially Kishore Kumar. The singers who came after them were good but not great.

Kishore Kumar's song hits so differently, no other singer strikes that hard..In some songs Mukesh jee was good and in some cases Rafi jee was impactful....but the truth is - only Kishore could make an average song extra ordinary!

Kishore Kumar was by born a Cummunal person like other ordinary Bengalis.Salil Chaudhury was a music director disliked Rafi Sahab, because he was a Bengali also excluding,the great Joy Mukherjee Sahab. Biswajeet Sahab, Uttam kumar Sahab and Mithun da.

किशोर दा मल्टी टैलेंटेड कलाकार थे बल्कि यह कहना पड़ेगा कि वे स्वयं में एक सम्पूर्ण सिनेमा थे प्रोड्यूसर, डायरेक्टर, संगीतकार, गीतकार, ऐक्टर और लाजवाब गायक एक साथ इतनी खूबियां भारतीय फिल्म इंडस्ट्री में आज तक न किसी और में थीं और न हो सकती है दूसरा किशोर नहीं हो सकता।

टाइम पास करने के लिए वीडियो बना लिया करो। केवल नौशाद ऐसे थे जो उन्हें पसन्द नहीं करते थे। और मनमोहन देसाई ऐसे थे जो रफी के फैन थे और अपनी हर फिल्म में रफी से गंवाते थे। इसे मजाक ही कहेंगे कि अमिताभ की स्टारडम में किशोर का कोई हाथ था। राजेंद्र कुमार भी 70 का दशक आते आते लगभग फिल्मों से छुट्टी कर चुके थे।

Naushadd was staunch fanatic. He hated Kishore kumar sahab for marrying Madhubala. Devanand sahab and Surrayya could not marry because of Naushad and Surrayya had to live without marriage in her entire life, the culprit was Naushad for this.
