I was at the Capital Centre show and was blown away when AC/DC played. I had heard OF them and seen a couple photos but hadn't actually seen them or heard the music. They killed it and I still remember to this day after AC/DC's set was finished and the house lights came on, two guys sitting in front of me one turned to the other and said, "Who needs KISS after that?". I was a diehard KISS fan at the time but had to admit, he was spot on!

Angus Young about KISS : Gene Simmons was very good to us when we came to America. He had gotten us a lot of shows with KISS. Today I am still grateful that he had done this. I remember when I came and saw us live the first time we played in Los Angeles at the Whiskey. He went to the backstage, approached us and said: Hey! I’ve been glued to the wall with your music.

Gotta give Gene credit for not being afraid to have super talented bands open and give them a shot back then, especially ACDC. ACDC in 77 had the potential to blow any headliner outta the water and leave them playing to an exausted smaller crowd. Having that version of the band with Bon and Angus left many a headliner feeling like spinal tap when the mini stonehenge came down.

As a professional musician. I must say, I have huge respect and agreement about Gene's point of view about ( bands ) YES! There are very few stand outs in music as far as stage presence. After hearing an interview with Angus.... He said people always offered him drugs. Asked him what he wanted... His answer. CHOCOLATE! Listen, drugs have destroyed so many of my idols. I too got LUCKY. I dabbled, but never lost myself. Came close.... But, I always wonder what music would be, if drugs didn't take some of the all time greats. Mad respect for both KISS n AC/DC. Truthfully, I have to say at 55. I'm still putting Zep as my favorite RnR band. Bonham, as a drummer OOZED RHYTHM! And something about that ( squeak ) in his kick drum pedal on the second album makes me smile to this day. Cheers to all musicians, and music lovers who are picking up, what I'm laying down.

It's just incredibly sad there is no photos of Gene and Angus together in 1977. Kiss in that era were HUGE, and very sensitive to photos without makeup. Gene has a magic touch for seeing who's going to make it big in rock & roll. It's very interesting how he saw Angus as being very different. And as we know now Gene & Angus share some very similar lifestyle choices.

Maybe 79 then. I moved to Phoenix from NY when I was 11 1/2 in the middle of 5th grade so I wouldn't have been there until the end of 77. I did a lot of psychedelics a few years later so my memory could be off. I do remember it opened with KISS rising up from the stage,.
