I left a Summer Biology class, to get this record on the release day. I will always remember the feeling of walking out those doors, knowing I was about to pick up this CD, and Red Vinyl LP. Even cooler (to me), was this was all pre-internet. We learned about the note (under the tray) to Ace & Peter, by simply "discovering" it. There was no Reddit, or FAQ to tell you about it. Simpler times indeed. Anthrax "She" and Extreme "Strutter" are my only go-to's for this record (although I wish Extreme had more of a Pornagraphitti LP vibe to this track vs their Waiting for The Punchline LP sound). As a tribute album, I feel some of the homegrown tribute records are better. I felt this was Gene & Paul trying to grab musicians who were hot at the time. I never really return to this record. More watch the VHS. But, man, I love this era. The fandom was buzzing with energy for sure. Great video! Have a good week. **I would agree, Anthrax cover of "Love Her All I Can", from their B-Side single CD, is just perfect. 🤘

I always enjoy hearing your memories! Great stuff, especially leaving Biology class 👏😂 Yeah, this is definitely not the best KISS tribute album, but I do have more of an appreciation for it now than I ever have... probably still won't revisit it much either though lol Thanks for watching my friend. Have a greet week 👍

Zander. That AnthraX studio behind the scenes clip is also on the KISS My Ass VHS/ DVD long for video. Plus the beginning of Funky Cold Medina is Alex Van Halen's drum fill from Jamie's Cryin'. 🤘🏻

Also in Funky Cold Medina. After each time he ends the chorus, the guitar lick right after is from Christine Sixteen.👍🤘

I saw Garth Brooks in concert years ago with friends who were country music fans. I didn’t know much by him but I left the show thinking he was a real entertainer and showman. He did indeed use a device to “fly” into the audience. Thinking back I can definitely see the influence Kiss had on him.

Great show! I just recently got this on cassette and I decided to listen to it while I was watching your video, pausing after each song to hear your views. Overall I agree with most of your opinions and give the record a 3 out of 5 score. The Lenny and Anthrax are my favorites. I also have a hard time with the vocals on Goin' Blind but enjoy the Bosstones DRC! Some of the insights you talked about around the album do help the experience. I remember when it came out I had the cd but didn't like it too much except for the Lenny and Anthrax and sold it. I do like when the artists make the songs their own and not just copy the songs. I think you idea of coming up with your own tribute album would be cool but maybe you could assemble the best tribute album based on tribute songs that are already out there and make the ultimate KISS tribute album! There are a ton of them out there but that would take some time...making one up is a better idea! Still working on the cassette! Take care!

Ok, last comment from me now that I’m at the end of the video. lol. I’ve never been a fan of or really understood tribute albums. In general, I tend to not like cover songs unless I hear the cover first rather than the original. But if I’m a fan of an original song I’ll listen to that every time over a cover. So this album does little for me. It’s basically just a novelty. Interesting to listen to it once or twice but I won’t put it in heavy rotation. This was a fun show for sure with lots of great info. Keep ‘em coming!

As a child of a Kiss Army member, I'll tell ya, my dad kept up with everything Kiss including this album. I gotta hold of it and the song for me that was so different for me was the Shandi's Addiction version of Calling Dr Love. At 10 years old, I didn't know I was listening to members of Faith No More, Rage Against the Machine and Tool

Great comment Benjamin! 👏 I can kinda relate to that too... except I was 29 when I found out it was Faith No More, Rage, and Tool 😅 Can't believe I never knew that... but it goes to show that there's always more to learn haha Take care and rock on 🤘

Thats funny that you brought that out about Christine Sixteen. That was Gene's way of using an analogy and a pun. Senior could mean both, a senior in high school and her a freshman. But also he is a Senior man, not senior citizen. Lol Like I wrote in another reply, Christine Sixteen guitar lick is used after the chorus of Funky Cold Medina. Yes Daphne, Ska is ragae with a little rock mixed in, like fusion R&B rock. Hey Xander: Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard, Calling Dr. Love! Lol That is how Gene thought of Calling Dr. Love. 😊 I give it a 3 stars. Creativity, love of the band, and because of the hard work they put into it.

Great show as always, I still stand by Kiss my Chilean ass as one of the most diverse Kiss cover albums I've come across to this point other than Anthrax's version of She and Shandi's addition "supergroup: version of Calling Dr. Love.

Me neither!! 😮 And idk if I'm glad it was just a one-time thing, or if I kinda want more rappers to start sampling KISS music... "I Love It Loud" would make for a great beat to rap over 😂

When it came out I remember being disappointed due to so many bands who were "supposed" to be on it that were not. I recall enjoying some of the songs and despising some songs. I never listen to it.

Ska is music from Jamaica generally from the early to mid 60's. Ska developed into reggae. Check out The Skatallites. freaking great!!! Late 70's Eng revived ska with Madness and The Specials.

Hard to Believe is a super cool KISS tribute album. By the time KISS My A** was released it was too late. I remember buying everything advertised for the album. Posters, stickers, cassettes, cd and the record, colored vinyl. Unfortunately.....KISS My A** only has a few good song. 🤘🏻

I think now that it's been 50 years since KISS' inception, it would be nice to see a NEW KISS tribute album with even more bands/artists that spans more genres instead of mostly 90s alt rock. What do you think?

Lemonheads had their big moment in the early 90's. Quite popular in indy circles. This album is just great - kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5-YnpeeZbKDfNE

I feel so old that you guys didn’t know Funky Cold Medina. That song was huge at the time. And Toad was a pretty big college rock/ indie rock band back in the day. They have a ton of great songs. But their cover on this album is not one of them. lol.

Hi Adam! Good to hear from you; I'm sorry to hear that life and work have been so busy. Hopefully things will lighten up soon! Try to stay warm... I wish I could send some of our heat down your way, it's been 37°C here 🥵 And I would love to have Jeb back on to do more KISS Song Challenges, but since he moved away I don't get to see him 😔 I've been trying to get him on video chat, but he is a very busy man. I do like the idea of doing a video about KISS posters! Expect that soon 😎
