This is literally the first rock song I heard as a kid. I was blown away. Now I'm learning it for a band I joined. Tough song for me. Great vid making it possible.

Olde pharte bassist here. Needed to learn this for audition with lots other "grownup" musicians. This was a terrific lesson for me. Many thanks!

I was confused - realized the notes and the tabs are different keys because of Kiss's half step down. Then realized that in later years on live events the stopped tuning down and slower

This bass line is the perfect example of a session musician playing for gene and writing for gene no way he plays this way live.....
@leinad39552 жыл бұрын
Paul says in his book that Bob Ezrin came up with it, but Gene definitely played it. All of them played on every record until Dynasty. And Gene can definitely play it live, look up a video!

You’ve obviously never seen Kiss live then

Nah lol, he definitely does. He’s had 40 years to perfect it. This is arguably his toughest bassline, and it usually starts out the show. It’s easier for him because the backing vocals for this song are so minimal. You’ll notice the basslines he wrote for the songs he sings lead on are usually a lot easier (dr. love, rnr all nite, god of thunder), which is pretty smart, especially considering he’s no geddy lee, Les claypool, or sting.

What a clueless comment. If you weren’t just trying to be a KISS hater, you’d know better.

Actually I have studied the live performances and he omits the the E on the D string on the the fast move down on the verse. Sorry not hating, just observing.
