Thanks for making this vid, Chad & Chad! Sure, lots of folks like me who've been flying KISS for over a year now will have learned most of this stuff the hard way but it's great to see somebody do an up to date KISS setup vid. I'm sure this'll help a lot of folks get up and running KISS easier! When I watch this it also hits home just how much Flyduino have done since initial release. Remember soldering to flash firmware? Remember the old GUI with no TPA & curves? Lol. Also, thanks for sharing your PIDS and rates, Chad Nowak. I know that those rates are a highly personal thing which take a ton of work to get dialled so I very much appreciate you sharing that publicly despite all the hard work you must have done on those. If anything it gives a really useful reference point from somebody who knows their stuff. One question: What's the thinking behind running more aggressive yaw rates versus roll & pitch? I ask because my yaw is a bit less aggressive than my roll & pitch rates and I kind of like it. Of course I could always just try & see (duh) but your comments are always interesting. I used to run low-ish RC Rate, higher Rate and some pretty crazy expo on the RC curve (with a massive degrees per second potential in terms of overall roll speed) which was fun for a while but I've gradually ended up kind of closer to where you're at - a flatter, less exponential looking curve overall using more RC Rate, a bit less Rate and minimal RC Curve with FAR less insane amounts of overall max degrees per. With the new less insane setup everything actually feels more progressive and more precise yet still nice and smooth after I slowed the crazy 'degrees per second' stuff down and got rid of a lot of the exponential I needed in order to be able to even fly a super aggressive setup like that. Even at 2.5 flips per second I find I have plenty of ability to pull off cool stuff. Just different flying maybe. Anyhow huge cheers! Sorry for rambling. Thanks for adding value to the community once again!

I started my quard after i followed all of your instructions( Build, Kiss Setup, Taranis Setup). I was close to loose the alien within the first flight. You didnt mentioned the esc calibration, as well as motor spinning direction (i used a different motor; soldering 1 and 3 bridge was therefore wrong) and prop mounting at all in eather one of the build videos. After i armed the quad it flew around 400 m within 10 seconds over 40 m high trees into a small forrest. Houres later i luckily found it. It was like the absolute horror!!! Please make sure you inform people about aforementioned.

Have the mid throttle oscilations been fixed? I also suffered from two kiss 24a escs going failsafe in two flights costing me two lumenier frames in two flying sessions. I liked kiss but I've shelved it for betaflight untill they fix everything as I didnt feel like i got the software quality for the price paid.

I started getting oscillations recently on my 5" Alien with KISS FC and 24a ESC's. Nothing substantial changed, and it persisted event after changing out props, motors, ESC's and FC, and upgrading to the latest released software. Finally I tried changing the LPF filter from "Off" to High, and started to see the vibrations go away. I graduated down to Low (which was too much), and settled on Medium High, and it's not bad now. My question is, what could cause it to need to be changed?

Whenever I start my motors my 2nd one begins to spin faster and faster until its max throttle. Is this due to a bad ESC or something in the settings I did wrong?

Thanks for the tutorial! I followed it just as described. Only it didnt go quite as well for me. The update failed and said that a chip could not be found. Now its seems to be bricked. I cant get it to connect to the gui or even arm. What now? Am i screwed? yes i used a mac.

How do get level mode on kiss fc and change modes in mid flight. I'd like to have a three range switch with level, horizon and acro. So when I start the quad it's in level and I can switch it to acro when flying and then if I lose control I can get it in level mode or if it get way out of control I disarm

hey i just built a kiss fc setup with kiss 24a escs. and i can only get motors 2 and 4 spining 1 and 3 will beep initially with the others but at the end it doesnt get the final long beep saying its ready. any help would be greatly appreciated, its been like a month since ive flown

Hello Chad, Today I tried my first flight with Alien RR and full kiss set with lumenier motors. I updated all the firmwares. 1.03 and RC28... I noticed a problem while flying. When ı was going forward without giving any roll, the quad was leaning to left or right. It's not flying straight all the time. I don't mean it's turning in the roll rotation, the quad still remains straight in the air but it's changing its direction from straight to let's say left. So the camera shows me straight but the quad starts leaning to forward left or forward right. What could cause this problem? Thanks.

Please help... I have just built a quad. When I throttlwe up motors 1, 2 and 4 spin up, a bit higher, about half way up motor 3 kicks in. I know in cleanflight and libre pilot you can set the min rpm for a motor. how can i do this in kiss gui?

maybe somebody could help me here just put together qavx with a kiss FC xs30a esc red bottom Motors with the 5x4 5 Dal props I get like a loud harmonic vibration or it almost sounds like the motors are trying to break it is flying in level mode it doesn't seem to affect the way it is flying it only does it when I'm in a study hover.. punch outs it goes away or any kind of movement it stops the sound. I change to HQ props and it made it much better but I still get the sound every now and then could somebody please tell me what it is

I just built a alien 5" with kiss everything, but when I plug battery in all escs turn on and then one blur light goes off, I've checked every wire up and down, but can't figure out the issue, do you know what that might mean?

I use level mode now and then just for LOS flying, never in FPV. A lot of time the quad will tilt to one side or forward/backward by itself in level mode. Is there a reason for this, gyro faulty??? or something wrong. I dont use it much, usually just to see how fast it is or to muck around, as in LOS i can never tell which way my quad is facing etc.

I have issues with my 9x radio, frsky mod too: the throttle bar in the kiss gui is flickering as soon as I connect the yaw wire. I think my soldering is just fine. Any ideas?

Hi Chad et al. Love your videos and with Rotor Riot. Since your the main authority on Kiss FC was hoping you could help. PWM will spin up at arm, run slowly for a few seconds, then cut off. I walked through your tutorials and covered everything. Even replaced the motor. I'm using the compact CTRL with firmware updated on f2f and esc with same issue. Happens in level and acro mode. No idea what I can do. New build and can't fly. please help!

Just wanted to edit this - I disassembled the quad, pulled the lead from the x4r and desoldered it, resoldered another one (exactly as the other one was) and it worked... Good signal. Holy crap does this thing fly well. Been flyig a qav250 and thought I knew what a locked in, lightweight quad felt like. Nope... I had no idea... This is going to b fun :)

Hey guys, I'm arming the quad when it's conneted to flyduino FC without the battery plugged. On the data output the pwm 4 is always 30 lower then the others. Let's say the others show around 1100, the PWM 4 shows 1070. I tried to calibrate the 24A esc. Changed the ESC with another one. It's still the same. And when I hover parallel to the ground, the quad slowly starts aiming towards the 4th motor. It's not the ESC, nor it is the motor. Could it be a FC issue? All the firmwares are latest.

fun fun. I had to order 4 new kiss 24a ESC's... an attempt on updating the firmware to them on a windows pc has (what i imagine) bricked them. The ESC's got hot to the touch but the LED does not light up and I get zero response from them..... so i switched over to a mac to attempt an update from a mac and i am still not getting a response.... can anyone tell me how to save these things?

I built two quads first builds neither of them work, both are completely different escs, and fc, but I have the spektrum satellite rx in both everything seems fine in beta flight and the kiss gui but the escs wont arm, or do anything at all any suggestions?

Hi, I've just got the Kiss FC at the Kiss 24A ESC's and have been looking at this video to see how I should set everything up. Is there anything different today to what you showed us in this video or are there things that I should know now that Dshot is available for example. I know a few people who keep burning up these ESC's and I'd like to learn all I can to avoid that happening to me and maybe I can help these guys out myself if I notice that they are doing something wrong. Hey, I bought a Kiss fc, and I can't connect to it anymore for some reason. I think it's because I haven't selected the correct COM port, but my only options are bluetooth incoming ports and Arcbotics DevB ports. Is there something I need to download, am I doing something wrong. It was working just fine a day ago.

KissFC does not change when I plug in while holding the boot button. It doesn't give me the option to change the COM channel and nothing comes up about flashing the firmware. When I plug in without holding the boot button it KissFC automatically changes to COM3 as it corresponds to my quad. Am I doing something wrong?

KISS vs Naze32? My quad is built with Naze32 and RotorGeeks RG20's currently. Would there be any major benefit to moving to KISS FC and ESC? If so, please explain. Thanks!
