Crazy Nights is a terrible album. I used to own every Kiss album, numerous bootlegs, posters, magazines and other memorabilia. Then I matured and did a bit of a revision and came to the conclusion that after the first four albums, most of their music is sub par. There are some good tunes that followed but overall I think once they lost their hunger the quality of their music declined. Alive is one of the greatest rock albums ever, but it was mostly downhill after that. Just my two cents after 40 years. I got my first Kiss album for Christmas in 1977.

You are right the words 'chosen' and 'success' could have a broad range of meanings. Perhaps using Gene Simmons as an analogy for one of God chosen people is not the best thing to do.
