The reason this is so special isn't just because it's a kiss; but because it is the end of an intensely emotional and gripping character arc where both Sato and Uenoyama had to grow and develop as people to reach the point where they are comfortable kissing. Uenoyama had to challenge his beliefs, his sexuality and learn more about empathy whereas Sato had to come to terms with his grief and guilt so that he could start to move past the tragic end of his relationship with Yuki. Both men were stuck still in their life until Sato's song and the following kiss allowed them both to begin to move forward together.

As a member of the LGBT community, this anime is one of the first Yaoi animes (other than YoI and Evangelion) with actual good LGBT rep. Most Yaoi they force themselves onto each other, this was slow and them both coming to terms with their issues. I'm so glad this has been made and I hope other LGBT members are happy with the rep too 💙💙

I love how this relationship is not over sexualized, and actually holds some meaning to it, I am lesbian myself and whenever I used to go out in public with my girlfriend, sometimes some guy would whistle at us, or say 'that's hot', one time some guy actually said 'Can I join?'. @@chikorieta 100% agree with your coment. Fudanshi here. As someone who has been reading and watching yaoi for like 2-3 years, this anime was amazing. Sure, I knew the main point of a shõnen-ai was the plot, but I didn't expect it to be this good. The music was also incredible and it had a deep meaning and made me feel goosebumps. The lyrics of this song are just amazing, but my favourite part is the beginning, where Sato uses the word "yuki" translated as snow which was also his ex-boyfriend's name. I really loved this show and I expect to see some more like this coming soon. Most of the yaoi I've seen are just stories where there's some kind of excuse for two man having sex without making any sense at all, there are just a few where they combine lust, plot and love. I just have one more thing to say...Sato's seiyū is f****** amazing.

Can I just say I’m am very proud and happy with the anime that has been getting released lately? Banana Fish, this series, Yuri on Ice have all featured homosexual characters and I’m more than sure there are more series that I have yet to hear about featuring homosexual characters but seeing more and more mainstream anime that support pride is so refreshing. Okay so ik most people ship Yuki and Mafuyu rather than Uenoyama and Mafuyu, but like this scene, is exactly why I prefer Uenoyama and Mafuyu together... the way that Uenoyama grabbed Mafuyu’s head and shoulder as he was walking off stage, AND walked off stage with him, just to comfort him. As well as how Mafuyu is literally about to break down (as you can see by him grabbing Ritsuka’s shirt and crying after), and Uenoyama kisses him, and just grabs his face and tells him how great his performance was, is pure love. Sure, Yuki and Mafuyu had passion, and drama. But with Uenoyama, Mafuyu could really try and really put his feelings out there, be proud of himself, and just feel. Which I think is something that he didn’t really experience with Yuki. Uenoyama too. He just found out something huge about himself. With that, he had to think for somebody else, rather than just himself. He really, deeply, cared about someone in a long time, and he realized he would do anything for him, Mafuyu. And I feel like that’s really what love is... transforming yourself, turning over a new leaf, and just being happy.

I mean yeah his death was tragic and all and sure mafuyu needs sometime to get used to it but most importantly forgive himself. And he was able to do that thanks to Ue. I feel his relationship with Yuki was just his first experience but with Ue it feels more real and unique because they were able to help each other grow and even if Yuki was alive maybe Ue and mafuyu could still find their way. This entire seen is one of the most wholesome things I’ve ever seen in an anime. They way Ue puts his arm around Mafuyu as they walk off the stage to comfort him. The way he holds him, the small kiss and the WAY HE HOLDS HUS FACE (that part got me bro). The way he just held him and said he did a good job. That’s one of the most cutest kiss scenes in an anime I’ve ever seen. And I love that their relationship is healthy, it’s not fetishized and sexualized by the fandom. Not to mention this is really well written. In other words, given is just a masterpiece.

I love this show to my core...I've never seen anything like it. Sexuality was question but never dwelled on..it was very refreshing to see something that didn't center around the fact that they were too men but the fact that they just love each other. End of story

the part that always gets me you ask? when after the kiss mafuyu is crying, many times throughout the season mafuyu says how’s hes bad at expressing himself, and crying and laughing didn’t come to him like it did other people, so for him to be crying, CRYING meant so much

One of my favorite moments from this anime. I literally cried when Mafuyu started crying. Having to come to terms with his grief and face his emotions, that must’ve been so hard for him to deal with resonated with deeply. This was a starting point for good things to happen for Mafuyu.

When Mafuyu expressed himself front of his dad, he hitted him. Then, he finally found a person who listened to him. But this person started spend more time with his band, and Mafuyu didn't knew what to do. Yuki was always with him, he didn't knew how to respond this and how to handle his lonelyness. He doesn't knew how to experessed his emotion, so he said something which he shouldn't. This person killed himself. After that, he finally expressed himself and his feelings about this with a song. And his new friend and crush kissed him and told him he was doing good. The first time when he was finally free to say what he feels. That's why Mafuyu's and Uenoyama's relationship is so beautiful.

what Ue just did made the kiss even moore special ! WHAT HAPPENED JUST NOW showed how much they ve grown and just how much Ue truly understands Mafuyu since he knew he would break down after putting everything he felt into words.
