The problem was he couldn't write a song worth a damn. He was lucky he had Stan Penridge for so long but Stan never got close to topping Beth. I don't know if there was a $$ cost for working with them, but I always thought with his voice if he'd hooked up with some of the 80's writers a lot of the hard rock bands (including Kiss) were working with he might have done quite well if he'd managed to record a decent break through single.

First time hearing Paul Stanley sing it. Does an excellent job--yet when you've heard the original, hard getting used to it. I agree that the raspy voice of Peter Criss DEFINITELY added the necessary edge or hook to the song. I think of other bands that went thru this: STYX (Dennis DeYoung/ then who?) and Journey come to mind. The Eagles lost Glenn Frey. PS. The two "KISS Chicks" w/ the face paint in the background are really cute.
