Prince knew what he was doing when he took this song back. The vocals on this version are lackluster and quite boring. The lead vocalist sounds like a contestant in a high school talent show. Prince's falsetto was exactly what the doctor ordered!

It wasn’t stolen - so no virtue is lost. It wasn’t an exchange so the ownership doesn’t change. The only way a person can take something back is if it starts with them. which owes its sound to David Rivkin and/or Mark Brown. If you've heard his One verse and chorus 'demo' you know the sound of the Mazarati’s take is vastly different...much more different than the Mazarati’s and Prince's final version. Also, compare Mazarati’s "100 MPH" to Prince's they are very similar. The only real question is who wrote the rest of the lyrics? One telling I read Prince wrote them out a little while later...one telling by David suggested they wrote at least SOME of the additional lyrics.

What so many people commenting here don’t seem to realize is that when Prince gave Mazerati this song it sounded nothing like what you hear on this demo. Mazerati & David Z significantly altered the song to what you hear in this demo. When Prince listened to their demo he loved what they did with it and took the song back and added his guitar & vocals etc. Prince’s released version of “Kiss” is a take off of what Mazerati and David Z did to the song. People here seem to think what they’re hearing here is what Prince gave them - it isn’t.
