Agree 100 percent. Saw it for the first time as a teenager on local TV back in the early 70s. Never seen it shown on TV. I think that's because of some copyright issues. I did see it on home video back in the 90s. On Republic Home Video. Though it's a Warner Bros release, Warner Bros doesn't own the rights. It was an independent feature, produced by James Cagney's brother William thru Jimmy's production company. Thank heavens it can be seen here at KZbin.

Two bloopers: Garage owner Mason, after he was confronted, takes and puts away a revolver out of the left hand drawer. He goes out to the garage work bench to make a call, when there was clearly a telephone on his office desk. On a right hand drive car, the accelerator pedal is still on the right. Cagney couldn’t have been able to reach the accelerator pedal.

The movie held my attention from the beginning to the end. B&W? Who needs color? Even a well written radio programme from "the era" could be great. There is nothing like using the mind to see things as they are or should be...

"Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" (1950) stars James Cagney as Ralph Cotter, a ruthless career criminal who escapes from a prison chain gang and embarks on a violent crime spree. Unlike Cagney’s previous roles as a charming anti-hero, Cotter is depicted as a completely immoral and manipulative sociopath.
