An excellent film with twists and turns. All of the actors are really good, with Frank Lovejoy being always go and who I listen to quite regularly on OTR, in Nightbeat. A really good actor. I love B&W Film Noir.

The first ten/fifteen minutes I thought it was the same old plot - love triangle yada, yada, yada. Left it on while I prepared food. Turns out it was very good! 👍 Interesting plot, some surprises. Good acting! Glad I stuck with it! Enjoy! 😊

Cafe owner Stan Fabian joins Joanie Daniel and her "brother" Frank in a scheme to unearth a "fortune in stolen gold buried by Frank" in Germany during World War II, and Stan is unaware that Joanie and Frank are undercover agents trying to get a confession from Stan of a murder he committed in Germany. Joanie plays on Stan's love for her, insisting he join the Army and so gain access to the supposed hidden treasure, buried in what is now a U.S. Army reservation. Entrapment is the word used now.

Excellent, unpredictable first 30 minutes, but quickly becomes nonsensical and plodding, with all the foreground eye rolling undermining some decent performances.
