Gain your storage back by making square box stools that you can slide under the table to store and use them instead of chairs.

That is a great idea, we will keep that in mind!

Wow! Hard to fathom how much yall got done last year! From 2 big assed canoes to a two hulled house! I am looking forward to what comes the next 12 months!
@SailingSVLynx13 сағат бұрын
No kidding... it was a good year of boat work!
@robw237911 сағат бұрын
Nice work. I have been on large-ish cats with U-shaped tables and I always find them pretty inconvenient to get into/out of. I think you will be happy that you went to the 'L'. Keep up the good work and great progress.
@SailingSVLynx6 сағат бұрын
Yeah, I'm definitely happy with the L shape.
@heinvosloo4517 сағат бұрын
Hi, hope you are both well and that you (and the boat) were not affected by the fires. Of course we don't know where exactly you live but I know that the wind was blowing from inland towards the coast and hopefully you were not downwind of any fire.
@heinvosloo4517 сағат бұрын
You guys did a ton of work this last year. And Brian was a real trooper and in his quiet way, he just got on with the work. ,
@SailingSVLynx14 сағат бұрын
There was a bit of drama, which I'll go over in next week's video, but I won't keep anyone in suspense, our crew and the boat came though unscathed.
@SailingSVLynx14 сағат бұрын
We did, and I knew from the start that I wouldn't get this built without Brian.

They were about 15 miles away, but the wind was an issue. I'll talk about that in the next video.

When you do the table make it so that you can lower the table and convert into a double bed. You’ll be surprised how much you will use it on long passages.
@charlesc.676715 сағат бұрын
Yes i agree always need 2 people near the helm.
@SailingSVLynx14 сағат бұрын
That was already the plan, so good idea! We're doing the same thing with the other two tables as well.
@SailingSVLynx14 сағат бұрын
Actually, we have three tables that will convert to beds, plus a single day bed above the cockpit table that is always there. So, lots of places that a helmsman can rest. We can sleep six upstairs, if needed!
@kevin-vt7dw13 сағат бұрын
I hope you are avoiding the fires out there
@SailingSVLynx13 сағат бұрын
Yes, though the wind was an issue. I'll go over that next week.

Terry can just make the current table expandable with hinged folding leafs. You have probably seen them before. That is a nice option to have.
@SailingSVLynx14 сағат бұрын
We are looking into that. I'll go over the decision in that once we get there :)

My 47ft cat came with a U shape saloon table and couch which I soon got to hate and I cut out the one U making it much better now. We also shortened the table which was just too big. A table where it folds out to be bigger and normally is smaller whilst sailing etc is also much better. You also want to sit so you can see out of your windows not below them. I.E eye level. We had the same Daiwoo washing machine on our previous cat. It worked great. Just make sure your mounting wall is secure as the spin cycle shakes the whole boat.

did you count the height of the seat cushions and back cushions? I made this mistake where I build my bench in my Camper van. Afterwards I had to change it.
@SailingSVLynx14 сағат бұрын
Yes, we put down a cushion and backrest when we tested. I just forgot to show that.
@mloret674517 сағат бұрын
A mobile ottoman would do well to add the removed seating and storage for the table.
@SailingSVLynx14 сағат бұрын
We were considering that option to regain storage. :)
@svwindrose198216 сағат бұрын
I think you made a big mistake! Get a 4 " piece of foam for the seat bottom and a # inch piece for the back... then sit again and you will understand why iit was lower and deeper than what you want as a finished size
@SailingSVLynx14 сағат бұрын
We tested with a seat bottom and back rest, I just forgot to show that in this video.

Those wall type washing machine can shake the supporting wall to pieces . When the fitted to caravans, a large pressed metal bracket is installed into the wall and mounted to the wall frame to assist and strengthen the structure. Caravan walls are 25 mm thick so similar overall. In rough seas the bolts can tear out of the composite sandwich you guys are using. Bonding the mounting bracket with urethane adhesive may help
@SailingSVLynx6 сағат бұрын
We'll take your warning into account when we build the wall mounts. Thanks!

I'm in agreement with the L shape decision. Which brand are the washer dryers please? Your dog made a quick guest appearance. Is s/he a Bull Terrier?
@SailingSVLynx6 сағат бұрын
Thanks, we thing we'll like the L Shape. The Washer/Dryer is a YTXRV 3kg 220V Mini. Yes, Ellie is a Bull Terrier, the clowns of the dog world. :)

What does thickened epoxy smell like?
@SailingSVLynx3 сағат бұрын
It doesn't really have much of a smell, unlike polyester resin, which has a lot of fumes.
@flutetubamorg13 сағат бұрын
That washer/dryer is confusing me. Where are the controls? I thought there was a rotary switch but you flipped it to the bottom so I'm guessing that was NOT a rotary switch.
@SailingSVLynx13 сағат бұрын
The controls are buttons on the front, just below the door.

If I sender you some support would you possibly send me a small 5” square of that fiberglass board? I do wood working and I just really want to see s sample of that board in person.

Sure, we can send a piece of foam panel. Talk to me on Patreon.

Looks like you forgot the upholstery on the seating.... The perfect height won't be perfect anymore with the upholstery. The 18 inch depth is great for dining but not so good for relaxed movie watching or so.
@SailingSVLynx6 сағат бұрын
We will convert it to a bed for lounging to watch a movie. 🙂
@Hotzenplotz16 сағат бұрын
@SailingSVLynx But the upholstery will increase the seating height by just the 3 inches you added to the structure.

@@Hotzenplotz1We tested the height with a cushion, its fine.
