The recent hate for 3D Land has felt so bandwagon-y to me. I agree with Kit, I feel that for a smaller scope handheld title, 3D Land honestly does a lot - especially when compared to other handheld Mario’s. 3D Land felt like such a big game on the 3DS when it launched, at least to me.

Krysta is right that Sony acquiring Kadokawa will be nearly a monopoly for anime and manga distribution in the US. It could be a very bad situation for consumers.

Manga distribution, no. Shueisha (VIZ Media) and Kodansha still have far bigger hold on the manga side even in the US with Dark Horse Comics having several of the bigger series. What Kadokawa does have is a firm grip on the light novel scene between having the biggest digital manga/light novel storefront (Bookwalker) and control of the two bigger light novel publishers in the US (Yen press and J-Novel Club) The problem is more that they had a pretty clear pipeline now so all the Sword Art Online, Re:Zero, Boogiepop and many other light novel franchises would become a part of a major Anime Studio network with Sony owning A-1 Pictures and Cloverworks and having strong relations with every other major studio. Basically Sony would own nearly every major series that isn't a part of Jump. This would trickle down to international distribution where over a third of ongoing anime would be produced by Sony in some fashion and shrinking the scraps Hidive gets. Netflix and Disney are investing in the anime scene but, that's still a small portion of weekly anime since neither service is courting the smaller series.

I'd ask: 1) The full history of Nintendo, as a company, from its inception to the present. 2) The full accounting books 👀 3) The current design guidelines for their games, i.e. Paper Mario's hard mandates for the developers, like "Don't put caps over ours Koopas" or "Don't give names to the Kuribos", etc.

I also thought about that question relating to the Nintendo Switch back in 2017! Thankful to be apart of Kit and Krysta Nation with the content and the best discord server 100%. Even though Mario 3D Land was hated on, it was still an underrated 3D Mario game for sure. Astrobot with some light years ahead. The fact Playstation and Xbox do not consider Nintendo competition anymore, was a huge sign of arrogance and why they are making mistakes... competition is a good thing, and getting into Nintendo's space of portables again is a good thing to bring out healthy competition and innovation. Letting Nintendo just be alone in its own space is sheer hubris and arrogance, like that space doesn't matter but it should.

I'll never forget my 1st black Friday at Walmart, there was some kind of altercation and a person was being walked out in hand cuffs. 22:13 When I first heard the iconic Nintendo Switch SNAP I thought it sounded like someone landing on marble floors wearing wooden sandals (like a cosplay Mario jumping in Hyrule Castle). After hearing you guys say the sound is actually made by snapping fingers using both hands reinforces that idea even more. To me, that sound will always represent when Nintendo made their games region free, forever unifying fans in the: US, JAP, & UK.

What I recall from interviews is the switch snap is exactly because of magnets, hence it's the sound when magnets snap together. When they prototyped the joycons with magnets, they loved the sound so they added the effect.

In Mario 3D games Mario has so many moves to help him manoeuvre through the levels. It would have been cool if you could upgrade Astro with new moves to add some different platforming challenges throughout the game. 🎉

The only issue with the Elden Ring discussion is why did Cyberpunk get forced into Ongoing for the amazing Phantom Liberty DLC last year in that case. I think there is some heavy bias around him showing off Elden Ring multiple years in promotion.

Sony buying the company that owns Fromsoft is a horrible idea. You make all these games exclusive and you cut off players from all other platforms. Square Enix did that with Final Fantasy and we saw how that went.

I was watching Kid Icarus Uprising videos and I got the tutorial Kit made 12 years ago. Is the style a coincidence or that format was the inspiration for Mr. Sakurai's channel (And some of the Smash Directs)? @@RuuyGboth publishers have studios that specialize in certain types of games. Sony will never be able to make a game like BOTW, Nintendo will never be able to make a game like Uncharted. Even though Sony tend to not keep their mascot platformers alive for more than a generation, each generation except PS4 has had at least one AAA first party Platformer

I may be late to say this but some things I want to say: 1. We need MORE competition, despite all the mistakes that PlayStation & Xbox have made in recent years & months right now, getting into the handheld space (which is new for Microsoft & not new for Sony) can be kinda interesting since competition BREEDS innovation, on a personal level & someone who is studying game design in college (graduating on May 2025) I would like to see another company (Apple/Panasonic/Hasbro/Mattel/Samsung/LG I can think of given their experience in the gaming space both past & present) aside from Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft to break into the market & try something unique, which I feel like we might see that sometime in the future. 2. Sony buying Kadokawa is BAD news for the anime & gaming industries & for consumers as a whole, it's bad enough that they already own Crunchyroll & a lot of terrible things (which I would like to point out but unfortunately it's pretty much a long list) & as for FromSoftware & Acquire (Mario & Luigi: Brothership dev studio) like y'all pointed out in the video, unlike Microsoft when they purchased Activision Blizzard (still have mixed feelings about that & the aftermath) Sony is just gonna make EVERYTHING exclusive to PlayStation, LITERALLY a monopoly on video games & anime that they have, IDK how things work in Japan, I assume that Japan has stronger anti-trust laws than we have here in the US, but hopefully the Japanese government do something about it, again I know very little to nothing about how laws work in Japan, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that front

1. I agree. I've been waiting for an affordable handheld/fullsize console that isn't one of the big three for a while. Maybe something that focuses more on indies, A, and AA games as opposed to AAA games. A lot of people cant afford a ps5 or a gaming computer and waited to buy a switch. If sega released a new console I'd jump on it.

​@@jellojiggler1693 But unfortunately, Sega won't re-enter the console market, they made it very clear that they're done competing in that market & solely focusing on software due to financial issues they had after the failures of the Dreamcast, Saturn, 32X, & Sega CD, it's like saying that Atari will re-enter the market even though they kinda still are but have no interest in competing against Nintendo, Sony, & Microsoft, mostly focusing on game preservation & other retro-gaming ventures, for hardware that focuses on indies, there's the Evercade, focuses on retro games & retro-inspired indie games, they don't have the more modern indie games but I feel like that's gonna change sometime in the future, but still would like to see of this & a new competitor in the industry since it seems like there's a chance it will happen

Friendly reminder that Nintendo put all their chips into a single device back in 2017 and so to sustain success they need to also replicate the switch success. Spolier: the next console will not be half as successful as the switch and Nintendo will be right back to where they were in 2016

Much like when Nintendo intended the DS and GBA to be complements to each other rather than successors, Nintendo was hedging their bets on if the Switch didn't take off by still supporting the 3DS with major releases until 2018.
