Ace Link Armor makes a number of different levels of ballistic protection to fit your needs. One of which is their Level 4 Stand Alone Plates. If you are unfamiliar with the levels of protection, per the NIJ certification standards, Level 4 will stop .30-06 APM2 (Armor Piercing) and lesser threats. So basically if you want the most protection you can still be mobile with, this is the one.
These plates are fairly light for the protection they offer as well. Each plate weighing about 6 lbs. And they fit nicely into most carriers that accept 10"x12" ballistic plates.

Just for clarification, Ace Link's Level IV is not in NIJ Certified. That means there's a lot of paperwork trailing that company complies with to be listed. Having the plate tested at one of the NIJ lab doesn't = NIJ certification. "Tested in compliance to" is a more appropriate term when the company has the lab test the treats listed for that level. By someone asking if they are a true 10x12 plate, they mean the underlying ceramic. Does it extend the full 10x12" area of the plate, or is there a 1/2 to 1" foam ring that overlays the PE backer and buts up against the ceramic on the strike face that now only takes up 8x10" :D

So what does mean for actual effectiveness/usage? Ok, it doesn't have the certificate, does that mean it's not viable?

@@misternitro1 It means that the Plate has been tested by a lab and found to be in compliance with the NIJ standards for a level iv plate. (But hasnt been through the full NIJ certification process) You can verify if compliant by checking the NIJ compliance list on their website and looking up the brand/model# ..... as far as the foam ring thing, because the standards require shots to be in from edge some companies will put foam rings around the outside edge on lighter plates, basically they say its a 10x12 plate but the actual ceramic l covers 8x10 inches and the outer edge isnt bulletproof. So the plate could be viable but may not give full 10x12 coverage

@@misternitro1 you'll find a lot of plates that are not cert. still live up to the standard. Watch some reviews of Battle Steel. They're chinese made but still have glowing reviews. Its mighty expensive just to have NIJ testing and certification. As far as edge to edge protection, I've seen a few plates that have this foam border and are not true 10x12 but definitely make sure you figure out what your plates actually protect.

Can you do a video on CarrabineQuarterMasterArmor? They are a smaller company, but have great stuff. Their 3A stopped rifle rounds when I tested it. The video of me shooting it with 6.5 Carcano is on their FB.

IMO no, the military does other testing on their equipment( remember dragon skin body armor). If someone was unfortunate enough to get wounded or lose their life. The military could choose not to pay out insurance and/or death benefits due to the person(s) not having their military issued equipment on at the time of the incident.
