Thank you so much for this video. This is one of the best videos on KZbin as far as utilizing tripods are concerned. I will definitely pull out my tripods and try out some of these techniques. Over the last fews years, tripods have really become a major part of everyone’s shooting kit. No matter what shooting discipline we are using it for.

i’ve never shot off a tripod but i can see the advantages. over the years i’ve shot a lot off barricades in training and they work well for me but this is even better.

Thanks for this one Ivan. I've done an absolute ton of long range shooting, but always off a bipod. None of us have run tri-pods for anything other than spotting scopes. Honestly, My long range gun needs some TLC now, but I was hoping to get that in before summer so that I could get my gun out to a mile this year. I think you've just convinced me to branch out to tripods with this video though. The utility of being able to get over sage brush and stay stable more easily would be worth its weight in gold.

I’ve been researching tripods . I didn’t know about any of the leveler’s. Ball-heads Ext and was glad to see you had a video . As always very informative and a lot of the info I was looking for . I really only have 1 problem with most of your videos that’s the back ground I get super jealous you live and play in the most beautiful area in the world .

Matt Yore is a solid dude. I reached out to them after you originally showed the Dovetail for the Fix. He sent me a sample dovetail for free just so I’d have one while I wait for the batch to be done with anodizing. I will always go back to Sawtooth.

I shot an elk off a tripod this year while standing. It was -17F in a huge field and too deep of snow to go prone. (I mention the temperature because try staying stable when it’s that cold). I was stable enough on the tripod to take a 430 yard shot off it, but before I squeezed a round off, they came right to me. Wound up being 130 yards. I could have done it without it, but the tripod was a big help. It was a cheaper tripod too.

Cool video with lots of great information. When shooting from a tripod you do not want to stand hinged at the waist. This requires additional muscle sets to be used and will alter the steady.

Today I learned, Idaho is very different from New England. A few years ago, in an e-mail chain, the Arizona wing was banging on about 1,000 yard riles, and I was like, "The last time I stood in the middle of I-91 with a rifle, it didn't go so well."

I was recently introduced to a Manfrotto tripod set up and an intrigued. Thank you very much, Mr. Yore for breaking the types of tripods for dummies like me. I've been mostly doing bipod shooting and sometimes standing with little support available. Thank you very much, Ivan and Matt.

I wish I could justify a high end precision rig. The money is there, but I don’t get much further than 300 yards. Everything in my corner of MN Is farmland and public forests don’t have clearings larger than 150yards. ARs, AKs and battle rifles can’t be outshined at those ranges. So there’s no need to purchase a nice rig. I regret selling the last one and refuse to go through that again 🤣

A cheap or used Remington 700 a little elbow grease to polish some detail and you can still get a nice gun. And caliber like 308 or 6.5 creedmore are really good at 300 yards, or you can get a 223/300blk/6.5 grendel you get the same feel of a bigger caliber in a bolt gun but is cheap and shorter range.
@mn_rifleman4 жыл бұрын
@@pisacenere like I said it’s not about money, it’s about space. I can buy an AI with a Schmidt and bender. At 300 yards even a .223 bolt gun seems pretty pointless.

@@mn_rifleman i live in south central pa and i have this problem as well. i have a natural gas pipeline a ways behind my house so technically i could shoot 1000yd, its buried, but realistically people wouldnt funnel down that, they wouldnt even have any reason to go down it to begin with. but i still bought a R700 ADL in 6.5, with the primary arm BDC scope, and wayyy to much ammo for it, because i wanted a bolt gun, and sometimes ya never know.
@Cooperd0g4 жыл бұрын
My current tripod is definitely too light duty for this. And I have a decent amount of money sunk into Outdoorsmans heads and accessories with a small camera Manfrotto I have adapted to go with them. I’ll definitely have to consider adding a larger tripod though.

They are great. They work across many different platforms and aren’t limited to a dedicated system like arca. Couple with a manfrotto magnesium head and carbon tripod and you’ve got a great setup for under 500.

Good information, my only wish is could you show the plates attached to the rifle that fits into the ball head. It looked to me that you were just shooting at dirt. What a waste of bullets. I am sure you could have found some old Trump/Pence campaign signs, of different sizes, to use as targets.

@MrLamont19752 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of shooters use that position in competition shooting. It’s a pretty stable position. Especially in situations where you don’t have a solid spot for a rear bag. You can still stabilize rifle and slightly adjust elevation if needed.
