They have! Still im missing some things here, nurglings face eg. oder the eyes of the custodes. But all in all as long as i cant kitbash like Pete, he does not have to paint like me ;)

@Stefan Nette I probably should have elaborated further on these but the eyes were tackled in the same way as the halberd and the Nurgling was simply washed a couple more times with the transparent red. His teeth and horns were painted in the same way as the black areas.

I like the idea that this Custodian has physically succumbed to Nurgle, but has not betrayed the Emperor. He wages an endless battle against the Chaos that attempts consume him in an effort to eventually destroy himself and his impurity, but while still serving his master’s will.

I've recently learned of an alternate Heresy, where the Emperor actually pursues godhood, upon gentle suggestion from Lorgar. Even his Custodes, being Loyal to Him, fell with him. This is a wonderful visual reference, for what Chaos Custodes could be!

I can hear the Guardian Spears being sharpened. It's a great idea, and works well aesthetically with the use of flesh colours and the gold, sickly green just being used for the blades. There's an advantage I think is missing from the actual range too: none of the unhelmeted long tongues that have to be on everything. Makes the corruption more imposing; you know what's under the helmet which keeps the style and utility, but can imagine what's ruined underneath.

Idk if people realize how generic all fantasy is. Elden ring, mtg and warhammer are all pretty damn similar. They are totally interchangable and likely have a lot of the same concepts artists working on them.

@@livanbard I figured. What I’d do is get some super glue and mix it with some modge podge to create a tarnished metal surface. What MidWinter Minis did with his Death Guard (one of them anyway). The shields, I’d cut into them with an exacto knife. You get the idea.

I think a cool detail would be to have black fluid leaking out of their armor, mostly from their eyes. Though I also though there’d be skeletons inside, but I think I’m more for that black liquid idea.

the heads on the slaanesh myrmidesh guys have a head like the darksouls knights quite a bit- honestly those on an astarte would have the same weird elongated proportions

What would be awesome is maybe a kitbashed Thousand Sons sorcerer in terminator armor with a jackal styled head attached. Or some other animal head to add to the Egyptian theme, the jackal seemed intriguing due to the reference to Anubis.

They could be called 'Nature-boys', just in a more Cockney accent. Some variant of 'Musheoon-boys' would also fit Nurgle'd Orks. Nurgle being nature on top of rot only being capable of enhancing their fungal abilities/growth due to the tampering of the Old Ones. Fungus Caps sprouting out of their shoulder blade, wounds pouring out liquid spores, and their intelligence growing yet dimmer due to Nurgle messing with their internal balance.

Really love the color choices. It's a close execution to what I think of with Custodes but just tweaked enough. The bright pale metallics against the really deep crimson just pops.

One of The Idea's that has been trotting in my head since I played Elden Ring was an army of Erdtree Sylvaneth and Wood elves. Like maybe they could be an elite force from the living city, the mortals clad in golden armor marching alongside Sylvaneth with glowing golden leaves.

Ironically, custodes are completely incorruptible. Even more so than grey knights. There is a story that features an incident when a super powered demon trapped in a sword was shoved through a custodes defending the webway gate on terra. Custodes booked it into the warp and while he wasn’t heard from again, the sword did pop up. When it mentioned custodes again, he said it was the most boring stab ever because there was no chance the custodes would ever fall.

Custodes are only as incorruptible as they want to make them, when GW wishes ti have Chaos Custodes they'll make Chaos Custodes. And they're right, the hobby is all about mixing things up and getting creative. Primaris were also supposed to be resistant to Chaos and genetic flaws, but Chaos Primaris and Primaris falling to the Red Thirst and Black Rage already popped up.

I've been working on a Death Guard kill team, but I was struggling with the color scheme. I had settled on a more traditional off-white with green trim set-up, but now I'm considering a shiny tarnished bronze and sickly red scheme. Still not sure, but you've definitely inspired me. As for other conversions, the Crucible Knights in Elden Ring are pretty iconic. I'd love to see your take on them in miniature form.

Great work! How do you manage to avoid overhandling the model and removing paint with your fingers when not handling the model by the pin at the bottom? Whenever I handle my model with my fingers while painting for any length of time I always end up removing paint! Even when I have left the basecoat to dry for 24h+. Cheers
