Almost 4 years ago and you're still helping people! I just bought one of these on sale, and was going to try it out with some basil pesto. Got all my ingredients ready after washing it out etc. and could NOT get the darn thing to turn on! Like many others I see here, I was ready to chuck it out the window! I thought they'd sold me a lemon, that's why it was on sale? Or it had got returned because of this problem and they'd sold it to me! All kinds of things go through your head and I hate returning things. So I looked up troubleshooting as the booklet that came with it wasn't helpful. Nada, so then tried YT for videos and you sir have nailed it! That one little nudge to the right did it after I'd wrestled it six ways of Sunday! Thank you, THANK YOU!! The pesto turned out good btw. I have one also, and mine does not have that play in it, I think your problem might be that you didn't have the BLADE assembly locked down in the bowl (you will hear it click and will not b able to pull it up). This might b helpful for you, it was for my machine. Thank you for your video!

I thank you for posting this. Without your help I WOULD not have been able to use it. The booklet that came with it failed to give the secret code to getting the damn top off. Then after 45 wasted minutes I broke that code but then the "secret" of getting the damn thing to line up and work right is still eluding me. Forget the 1-800 number, you could easily spent the next two months talking to a computer. I will say that I'm a older guy with arthritis hands so not everything is easy for me but the design of this IS NOT consumer friendly. My advice to others, buy two of them, one to shit on, the other to cover it up with!!!!

Mine has no play at all! I "think" it is not locking, but afraid I will break it. I may try and take a rubber mallet to the handle to move it over more. So frustrating! After seeing yours be so touchy, I think I will just return. I bought it directly from Kitchenaid, so hopefully that won't be an issue. Thank you for your video review.

FYI. I decided to try it with that mallet after all...lol. It moved, locked into place and now works great! Who would’ve thought. Still crazy I had to even go there. I wouldn’t buy again but I’ll keep and use till it quits. 😊

You should never buy electronics or small appliances from Walmart or QVC. In order to meet the buyers demands the manufacture is forced to cut corners. A kitchenaid food processor or stand mixer from Sears comet target, or Macy's may look similar to but are very internally different then those models purchased from Sam's, Walmart, QVC And other low end discounters.
