This inspired me to organize my lower cabinet where I keep all of my baking stuff and mixing bowls. And you're right, now that it looks nice and everything has a place, I'll put the items back where they came from, instead of just pushing them in randomly where there is room when it was all cluttered. Jen it was a great video, and I think it's cool that you're sharing something you love to do w/ the world. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there on youtube. Very nice! I am constantly messing in my cupboards to make them neater. I am lucky that I have some extra storage in my downstairs laundry room/kitchenette, so I put things like roasting pans and other bulky things down there. It's nice that you can use your organizing talents to help your family members too. Good girl!

As you said, "The best way to organize a kitchen is to get in there and find what works for your own home." I kept items in their same locations for the most part but arranged them for easier access. Sometimes just a little rearranging can totally change how your space functions.

Many of us designate storage by 'where it's used.' For example, pots & frypans are stored in the cupboard as close to the stove top as possible. Space isn't an issue at in-law's vacation home but I found it less of a hassle to store pot lids inverted with lid handle inside. Too bad the tableware cabinet isn't adjustable. It could easily take another shelf or a stacking rack for plates, bowls etc, easier to set table. Happy to see new hair-do

I have new kitchen cabinets at our lakehouse and was having the WORST time trying to put things away. The cabinets fit the space and there are several narrow filler cabinets, only 9" wide. I was having a tough time trying to move things out of the pantry closet we used into the new cabinets. I realized I was trying to recreate our primary home. I decided to arrange things around how we actually live in the the lake house and it works SO much better! So what I thought couldn't work really does!!!

If it's anything like the pantry I reorganized out there last year it will pretty much stay intact. When things are placed in a more effective arrangement, it's easy to put things back that way.

(Oops, against* instead of again.) Yeah, I get seeing how people arrange their drawers and getting ideas from that but for cabinets, everyone has different stuff, different size plates, cups, mugs, maybe baby stuff thrown in there and there isn't a way to be real helpful with that stuff since no two kitchens are alike. It gets real tricky to organize a small space with a lot of stuff! That's been our dilemma in the past and that's when you need to get real creative! :)

I'm sure there are people who would find it helpful, you do have to find what works for you but that can be said for most things?!?! I think it will give people some good ideas/tips on how to arrange items, if nothing else Im sure it will inspire people to move their kitchen items around till they find a way that works :)

You said that you guys turn your glasses over in the cabinets to keep them clean, so do you hand wash those holiday mugs that are sitting out (they are up by the cabinets, but there isn't a door to cover them) before you use them or are they just for decoration?

Jen, lets say you don't have a drawer for your extra lid's for your pots, and you don't have the space to keep the lids on your pots, where would you recommend putting them? I have a drawer under the oven that I keep my pans and cast iron skillets in, so I keep my lids down there, but then I find I have the VERY same problem with the lids to my bowls, I don't have the room to leave the lids on them, yet I don't have a drawer I can dedicate to just lid's, ANYONE have any great ideas for me? I moved into a mobile home for health reason's a year ago, In our house I had way to many cabinets and drawers, here I don't have near enough and I purged so much that I ended up taking 20 loads of stuff to donate to Goodwill, I lived in a 3 story house, and had so much room it wasn't funny, since it's just me and my husband, but like I say, now I have no closet space, no drawer space , and no cabinet space, I even went and bought a cabinet that has 3 drawers and 3 cabinets...total I have 7 drawers which none of them are very big or very deep, and I have a total of 12 cabinets, and like I said I purged till it hurt, what can I do ?? any advice from anyone?? Thank you

Great organization- I was just a little disturbed when you pulled everything out of the cabinets and placed them on the floor. I am a germaphobe - I hope you wiped the bottoms of each item before stacking and returning to cabinets. Also, I would not stack non stick pans as you did above your pots and pans.

Nothing again Jen here at all but I don't see how this video could be helpful to anyone. Kitchen organization is going to be different for every person depending on the type of kitchen they have and the things they have in it. This kitchen has a lot of space and isn't used frequently making it easy to rearrange. The best way to organize a kitchen is to get in there and find what works for your own home.
