You don’t have to. But, when rolling the o-ring down if you put the top one in first, the bottom one can roll over the top of it without getting stuck in the groove. Probably more important when removing them. If you do the bottom one first, it can pass over the top one. Without getting stuck in the groove and have to dig it out again.

@SkyManagement2 жыл бұрын
Yes! Most of the time we have to fix this issue it is because a resident has seen water dripping under their sink. Water comes out around the collar or “neck” of the sink and runs down and finds a way underneath . Ultimately dripping down below. If your sink has water coming out around the collar while on… this should take care of you! Good luck! 🍀

The link to the o-rings in the description shows how to measure them if you want to order individual ones in the size you need. We have multi-family properties, so having extras around is never a bad thing. Lol If you are getting calcium build up around the base, then i would guess it is probably leaking. Make sure the water is off in case you have a ball joint style, then you can tap around on the ring with your wrench or something to hopefully break loose any build up. Then if you still can't get it, you can use a pipe wrench, but I'd put a towel or something around it because it can tear up the finish on it pretty easy.

@SkyManagement3 жыл бұрын
It can be confusing which is why we linked a universal set that should cover most faucets. There are many single handle tap faucets that look “similar”. I would think one of the larger o rings in that set would work. They are meant to be a tight fit so you might need to stretch them over the top so they slide into the channels . When in doubt you can remove one of the rings and take it to a local hardware store and they should have something that would work. I’m sorry you are having issues.

great video! what if it leaks also under handle that opens and closes ( my main issue). Does anything inside the center need changing as well?
@SkyManagement3 жыл бұрын
It is possible that it would need a new cartridge. If you replace seals like the video and it is still leaking... it needs a new cartridge. Turn water off before you replace the cartridge... :-)
@canadianjaneoriginal3 жыл бұрын
Sky Management I followed the steps but the handle will not come off! I am stuck on this part because if I force would something break? I checked and the one screw I took out did nothing. Its a cheap Waterpick one lever with spray detachment nozzel. Its ok if I need to change valve and seals, if only I can get it off :(
@SkyManagement3 жыл бұрын
The handles can be stuck on pretty good sometimes. If you have removed the set screw then I would wiggle it and try to force it off. (Make sure the water is turned off) The worst that would happen would be the top of the cartridge could break off. But, if you think the Carthage may need to be replaced anyway, then that might not be a big loss.

Cartridge cannot be removed its inset. The geniuses did not put a hex to remove it or anything the screws off.

@@SkyManagement It looks like you got it. It's difficult getting down there with my bad back, but I figured that you must know what you're taking about, so I made the effort to see where the water was coming from. I was right to connect the hot and cold water lines to the two outside threaded cylinders extending below the sink. Then, the sprayer has to be connected through the central hole.. I will then have a sprayer. My old set-up had the hole for the sprayer plugged-up. and that was good enough for me. (Who needs a sprayer?) So what caused the leak? The rings are not of the right size? I have a Moen kitchen faucet installed and in a couple of days this problem began to occur. After a few months, it has gotten more serious! The plumber did not admit this problem and said it is because I let water splash on it.

If it started again immediately, then it could be that the seals were the wrong size. The carriage can also leak out of the top and it will look like the same issue. But replacing the o-rings won’t fix it. Here is a link to a video on how to change the Carthage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWibc4SfoJtgl8k I hope this was helpful.

Is there suppose to have grease put on the O rings?
@SkyManagement3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. It’s a good idea to lube the gaskets before sliding the neck back on.

I have a leak in the exact same area. Can you recommend sizes of rubber gaskets? I don't mind buying several bags if I'm not sure of size. Any particular brands? Thanks so much!

There are different diameters and thickness depending on the brand. The easiest thing to do is remove the old ones first and take them to the hardware store and compare them to the new ones. Any hardware store should carry a variety of sizes.

I could not remove the neck on my American Standard faucet. I tried to pull it off and thought I was going break it off the sink. As usual, these videos make things look simple, but in reality they are not. I will call a plumber to R&R the seals.

Do you not spread silicone lubricant on the o-rings?
@SkyManagement4 жыл бұрын
yes, it is a good idea to do that. It will slide together easier and give you a longer life to your o-rings.

@@SkyManagement can I just use wD 40 for lubricant or something in my kitchen like coconut oil?
@Lawliet7342 жыл бұрын
@@irislorikeet4287 WD-40 and coconut oil don't stick to o-rings and will get washed off.

The u tube repair never goes haywire...have seen complete truck engines on big rigs fried as the trucker does a "simple" lamp bulb replacement.
