so hear me out - spiral banana, don't take them apart because they'll be too delicate, but skewer through the center with a popsicle stick and freeze it to dip in melted chocolate and roll in nuts... I would DEFINITELY be impressed by that as dessert at a dinner party!!

@GyroCannon Do you find that in some KZbin videos that the people are talking faster than they used to ? Is it just me ? I'm old, have a slight hearing loss, use CC when available (usually to catch a word here and there due to pronunciation more than volume) but sometimes have to slow it down to 75% to understand what they are saying. Wondering if others have noticed this ? Some people talk a hundred miles an hour.

I think if it's a gadget meant to "help" someone perform something, like the first one, you should each have a go at it. Because Ann presumably has more skill than the average person, so if a device could be used by someone less skill to accomplish the goal then it would be good. Can Dave chop the onions as well as Ann or better than the device? Having both people are different levels testing a device will give a better representation of whether it is good or not. Also, there may be some trial and error involved, how long did it take to learn how to chop onions that well vs how long would it take to learn the device and achieve the best results from it?

We have a similar bird in PR, a little smaller I think, but these #!@# things work in a flock to distract you so others can take your food... we were having a department beach party and finally i got so tired of chasing them off I sacrificed a huge bag of tortillas, walked about 50 feet away or so, crumbled them up and scattered it in the grass, they ate just fine and finally left us alone. I've used the garlic cutter before and it's actually very useful! You just have to do it differently than they did in the video. Rather than one bulb at a time with slow jerky pushes, you'd put all 3 in and give it fast smooth back and forth pushes with your full reach. The reason there were different sized chunks in the video was because they put them in at different times. One bulb got chopped 10 seconds, one for 5 seconds, and one for 2 seconds. Of course they're going to look different!

It's really interesting how there are completely different campfire-bread recipe in the world. In our group I'm always in charge of the German damper version "Stockbrot", which is also out of a simple dough but with yeast and without butter or milk. The literal translation would be stickbread and as the name says you take the risen dough and wrap it around a stick, which you hold over the flames (or even better only the ember) until its done. It's actually not that easy to get a evenly cooked piece, but everyone can make their own and it's a nice midnight activity and snack :) And for health concerns because of the sticks: We take of the bark where the dough goes and also hold it in the flames for a bit to clean it.

@@letsdoodlesomethinghome3404 As Aisha_Luv! said, it sounds like this is an issue with your oven/environment. I live in an apartment and our oven is incredibly, uh, overzealous? We have to take everything (I mean EVERYTHING) down 25-50 degrees and usually it's still done before whatever the printed time was. I would try dropping your oven temp and setting the timer for ~75% of the stated baking time and then add time as necessary. I'm betting the temp is your issue based on what you're describing and my own (seemingly nuclear) oven...

Silicone is heat safe up to 220 C/428 F. Wood, on the other hand, burns between 300-600 C; and charcoal can reach over 1000 degrees (hot enough to melt aluminum foil, if touched directly)! Also keep in mind that many silicone-type products include plastic fillers that can reduce their heat tolerance and make them less suitable for food/cooking. Make sure you use products as directed 😊
@DariusBaktash
@DariusBaktash 2 жыл бұрын
A lot of folks forget this in backcountry cooking, as well as misunderstanding heat tolerance of other materials. Non-stick pans can't be used over open flame fires for the same reason, and even titanium can warp a bit over hotter fire. Aluminum can be used for wrapping, but doesn't stay structurally sound at campfire temps. The best materials to date are still classic stainless steel, although titanium for some applications is fine.

Love the worker ants! The silicone bag would be awesome to replace a bowl in tight camper spaces.

I do know the "Tron" Garlic cutter is a bit dodgy but as someone disabled, who doesn't trust their hands with a kitchen knife, I'd absolutely still use it to make cooking easier for myself. A lot of silly gadgets do start out intended for people with hand coordination issues. I actually own some nice leaf shaped springy cutters and I use them for cookies or piecrust.

I would love to see people with disabilities testing out gadgets. Often “hack” devices are designed for people with cognitive, motor or mental impairments but aren’t targeted as such and instead you get the “clumsy housewife” skit on the informercials. But I’d love to see people talking to others that use gadgets because they can’t use knives, cutlery or similar utensils (maybe not that garlic one, it did look rubbish).

That’s such a good idea. A few of my friends have a kettle pourer, so you can pour hot water easily. I see people laugh at how stupid and useless it is all the time. But obviously so useless for disabled people, since when each of them got it they were so excited. I also follow this guy on KZbin who is quadriplegic and posts life hacks for how he does stuff indecently.

I was about to say something similar! And I think the reason the garlic cutter was so bad is because it's a knock off, I have a friend who uses a garlic cutter like that, and it works really well

@@blueheffalump5293 I knew someone who had a device that was like a big stamp where she’d put the garlic under it and just stamp down and the blades would cut it. That’s what I thought this one would be like.

Maybe I will do a product review like that. I am disabled and love to bake. There are some gadgets that actually work very well for me and some that don't. Idk.

Omg the crow. That was so freaking hilarious. It was like he was nonchalantly cruising by to make sure the coast was clear before he went in for the steal. LOL

In Canada, there is an indigenous tradition of Bannock (which is similar to Damper) requires no foil. Just wrap the dough around the end of a wood stick to cook over the fire. Every Canadian child is taught this in elementary school. Great episode! I love that you are always seeking the truth!
