In this video I'm going to guide you through a DIY kitchen install. We are using a kitchenette or laundry room installation to give you a base knowledge of the pipes for hot and cold water, the carcass and cupboards, the waste pipe, the worktop or countertop. I'll show you how I measure, level and fix the carcass. How I measure and cut the worktop for the kitchen sink.

plumberparts It’s helpful stuff. I know better than most the intensive process behind making a video. Fifteen minute video can take three days of work on my side, and if you want the output to be high quality then reshoots and farting about make the actual job much much longer. Anything bigger than a circuit board brings me out in sweats, but with the help of a few of your videos I’ve drained my central heating, replaced the pump and two leaking rads, replaced a crap drain cock and installed a magnetic filter. All using end feed fittings. So keep on making the videos please mate!

Nice job👍🏻. Might be worth sticking an extra cut down end panel in as a divider between the appliances. A bit more strength if someone decides to sit up on that worktop 😬

Nice video, one of my least favourite jobs is replacing sink taps after they've been in for a few years..., I do like when fitting kitchens to put the tap in before I place the sink . Also found a metal bracket which you do have to fit after the sinks is in place that uses the bottom of the worktop as extra support especially if the sink is the thinner type . Good work and hold tight..

One of those jobs as a plumber that I've done hundreds of times, but I was still entertained throughout 😂 On a techie note, I've had flexi fridays onto iso valves- resulting in wet vac Fridays😭 (after a week of job completion it split). Male irons or poshy iso valves with flat 1/2" male iron end are the the way forward for me now!

@loafersheffield

You can get flexi tap tail adaptors 1/2" also in 3/8ths" both threaded to 15mm spigots for compression. Pop you C/Vs or Ball-o-fix's straight on. If you salvage 1/2" to 15mm compression unions offa old rads they can be re-used too. Just be carefull tho, as those Kudox ones that Screwfix are knocking out, foc, with new rads are sharp not flattened. They are also slightly longer than std ones. Makes a like for like rad swap..."awkward".

Right, what kind of black magic fuqqery are you using to get away with a circular saw blade on a worktop? All convention says you get tear out of the surface., unless you cut with the top reversed and even then blade has to have about a thousand teeth.
@CyberWolfVR
@CyberWolfVR Жыл бұрын
My base units have stupid wood supports that also act as a door stop support, that I will need to cut as well as the worktop to get the sink in which means I also have to remove the entire back panel otherwise my sink won’t fit.

Tip - put masking tape on the worktop to draw the cut out for the sink which will also prevent scratching when cutting, and you can lay the sink upside down and use as a template but draw your cut lines 10mm in or whatever is required.

Unlike the "plumber" that came to stop a leak in our hot water tank piping 😤😤😤 while replacing one damaged pipe he only went and stuck a hole in the one next to it 😵 P.S. great to see another Prince fan 👍

The next time I do a kitchen I'm going to experiment with fitting removable backs to the cabinets that have pipework behind them. Model makers use a fixing for wings on aircraft that seem ideal to fix to the carcass and that would then allow the back to bolted in with short M6 bolts.

I do not like the idea of putting sinks above drawer units. It's exceptionally rare that you would have to do this. On that run with wash mac and fridge (beer chiller I'd bet) there is no real option. I had to butcher the rear of a drawer on an Ikea drawer unit, just last week, when I swapped a single bowl for a single bowl + drainer. Even though I used a space-saver waste and tucked the trap right at the back against the wall, the bottom of the waste fitting and elbow snagged the top rear of the drawer. Those sink clips are brutal and don't work well on 28/30mm deep worktops very well anyway. No shame in just gluing with silicone and the butchering of the drawer is just an inevitability in this particular case.

It seems to me that there is an increased tendency, in this day and age, for people to admit to and take responsibility for making mistakes. It is to your credit that you take personal responsibility. Humility is an important feature of a well rounded and balanced personality. Regrettably this seems to be a dying trait. We all make mistakes and learning from past experiences is invaluable. I always make mistakes (according to my missus, she who must be obeyed) However, they are often intentional... so I can skeive out of doing boring housework. Mind you, I always open the window when I take a poo and I am the designated house bailiff for evicting spiders.
