That post-it note trick for catching the drilling dust - GENIUS. ABSOLUTELY GENIUS.

You’re truly an Asian’s delight. I know coming from Asia where all our furniture and other builds are “made” for us, it’s empowering to do it on our own. I love that you took your time and did it just the way you like it. The result is so pretty! ☺️☺️☺️
@JMarieCAlove2 жыл бұрын
The same happens here in America, full of different ethnicities. We have furniture made for us too and make it by hand or put it together if we buy it from IKEA. Most of the furniture made for IKEA is already made for us and our choice to hire someone to put it together for us or we can put it together ourselves. It’s not pieces you can design it the we want it to fit our home, we choose a style to fit our home. My husband and I who live in California, have taken the time to put furniture together too. It looks great! All countries have furniture made for everyone. Some people buy’s furniture from other countries they like to have in their home.
@GarfieldinGarden2 жыл бұрын
@@JMarieCAlove That’s not what I meant. In a lot of countries in Asia, most regular home owners would never use a drill or any kind of kit. Even to install lights or put nails on the walls, we call the respective professionals. Until very recently ikea was not commonplace. Of course we choose furniture to our liking and arrange it likewise, but never went beyond that. Labour is cheap and people prefer to get it done. I just meant knowing how to use tools is empowering, whether you actually want to use it or not. Hope this explanation helps. :)
@JMarieCAlove2 жыл бұрын
@@GarfieldinGarden I happen to have seen several videos of people in Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea, buy things from IKEA or a home building supply store, a hardware store, in their area and they have used drills, nails, hammers, hand saws, electric saws, to build shelves, counter tops, tables, bookshelves, put chairs together for their table or desk, following how to build a desk or an extra closet space, Asian people do buy kits. Even young single Asian girls who live on their own, know how to build things on their own with tools, some of them even own their own tool cases. Since most Asian countries have an IKEA and home building supply stores, they learned and teach others how to use tools. You think she is the only person out of all Asian countries, that has picked up a electric saw or drill? No, she’s not. I suggest you watch other videos from Asian countries, type in building a table or desk or using tools, you’ll be shocked! Don’t assume how people are in other countries. You could be wrong… you actually are since you made assumptions about all Asian people.
@GarfieldinGarden2 жыл бұрын
@@JMarieCAlove I have seen other videos. But what you see on KZbin are the ones are not majority. Moreover, there are several videos where the people you see might be building their own things from ages, for the lack of assistance. In cities it is quite common to call somebody. And of course I am not talking about all Asians either. That is why I said most, not all. And you’re missing the point, for someone who never used anything build wise before, it is empowering is my whole point. Peace. :)

A new kitchen and a new milestone for me - making a whole piece of furniture! 🥹 I'm really happy to be able to share the journey with you guys in this new place. For all those asking, often when you rent in Germany, the kitchen doesn't come with the apartment. You have the option to buy one built by the older tenants, or like us, build one on your own. And no, the landlord does not reimburse you. When you move out, you either sell it to the next tenant, or bring the kitchen with you to the next apartment. (We sold our previous kitchen, which is why we started from scratch!) When I first moved to 🇩🇪 this was a strange culture for me, but I actually really like it now because we get to design the kitchen totally to our needs and wants ☺️

Wow, this kitchen is much larger than the other one! Really happy you got to design it how you wish, it came out beautiful :) And ironically, a lamp I wasn't expecting until tomorrow arrived today while I was watching this! After nearly a year of being in my apartment, I had a paycheck available where I didn't owe a lot of bills for once and jumped on the chance to finally buy furnitire (nice to now how somewhere other to sit rather than just my bed or at my desk). I thrifted my dining room table set, which maybe due to the cosmetic damages, it was being sold for at least $500 less than it should've. Just built my couch two days ago, all to have to rearrange the whole room last night. But the TV stand can take a long walk off a short cliff 😂 With no power tools and having to redo parts all over again when I got something wrong, I went to bed and woke up still with an aching hand and elbow. Good thing it was Sunday, I otherwise probably would've called put of work from being in pain. It finally subsided a few hours later. I love what it looks like but building it was just awful. That Sunday, I went and bought a power screwdriver. I wonder if building uoir own furniture would be easier than building pre-fabricated furniture, lol.
