Installing a new kitchen range hood vented to the outside, with limited options of where to run the duct, I opted for the most direct route, shortest distance with the least angles from the exhaust fan to the outside. The goal is to remove cooking odors and vent them outside. The tools and items in the video are listed on the amazon links below.

I would go above the cabnets with sheet metal pipe and then box in the ductwork.

That was the other option, almost went that way.

I would go above and along the cabinet and use metal pipes.

Lol, you know you have a DIYer in front of you when they use flexible duct for exhaust duct work and destroy half the kitchen cabinets by putting the ducts through the cabinets.Good one - who needs comedy, when there are “handymen” like this 😂

I have a very similar issue. I have 10 ft. above my cabinets to the ceiling and I don't want to see any pipe extensions or bulkheads. So, this is my best option as well. Builder only installed a recirculating fan Microhood above a GAS range too. (which does nothing) They got away with another one on us. Also, I want to remove the over the range microhood and replace with a "real" Kitchen exhaust fan like yours. The microhood is always in the way of cooking. But, yes, you should of used rigid pipe. Other than that, great work...

I would have built some type of decorative edge on top of cabinets then put the exhaust tubing in and your final board of top followed by decorative objects on top

That is definitely a great option. Thank you.

I had a similar situation in my house. My cabinets are nowhere near the outside wall and are almost up to the ceiling. I ran duct pipe up and into the ceiling and with second floor joists running across, piped it to outside between them. In your case that was a less demolition option, although you have lost some cabinet space. For my wife cabinet space is never enough… she wouldn’t let me do it. 😂

I wasn't allowed due to the cabinet space issue, I did it anyway & decided to just take the beating after, was my only reasonable option.

I like the idea here. I have a similar kitchen setup but I have a soffit above my cabinets. Maybe I can run the ducting through the soffit to the outside

I think this was the best duct route but don’t use flexible duct. It’s not code you must use rigid for kitchen exhaust ducts.

Why did you not run the duct over the cabinets? That way just with some crown molding you could have cover it.

That was an option, I didn't look good from a few steps back.

Great job cutting the holes, however you have to run hard pipe through all penetrations, with kitchen and dryer vents it’s hard pipe all the way

You couldn’t go above the cabinets? I know it would show but you could save those cabinet spaces. Was that an option?
@underdogoutdoors

Yes, was the first option, this house has tons of cabinet space, it looked much nicer hidden.

So far, no issues, works great, other than losing some cabinet space. Much better than cooking smells permeating the entire home.

Based on your exit on the exterior wall you could have just went over all the cabinets.
