this is a winner for me and my dog; my pup stated having seasonal issues to the point she'd licked off almost all the fur on the lower 1/2 of her body. She's a small white dog, I'd taken her to normal vet with no results, he then referred me to a vet dermatologist, I didn't take her but have spent over $300 trying to find comfort for her. 1/2 way through this video I mixed 1/4 c coconut oil with about 6 drops of rosemary oil and started lightly messaging it into her skin. about 30 min later she is sleeping soundly, her red inflamed skin is now back to it's natural pale pink. I am about in tears to have something that has given her such comfort in such a short period of time. HAT'S OFF TO YOU! THIS IS A WINNER!

This is a great message and I’m sure it will help a lot of people! Here is another true Rosemary story, We had a turkey named Rosie whose leg was bothering her. She was biting at it and it was itchy and disturbing her for weeks. We tried every thing we could think of to help heal the skin on her leg and kept it covered with socks so she couldn’t bite it. eventually we came around to putting oil that had a sprig of rosemary steeping in it, basically a rosemary oil, on her leg and that is what finally cured the itching. It cured it quickly and it cured it permanently 😁. I’ve seen studies to that show that the long-lived people in Italy eat a lot of rosemary too. Go Nature!

I buy or grow Rosemary and I Grind it up in my coffee grinder so that the sharpness is gone - makes it safer to eat. I don't want them chocking on the sharpness of the unground Rosemary needle. I also dehydrate beef liver in my oven at 180 degrees. I first sprinkle the ground up Rosemary all over the beef liver so the beef liver is pretty much covered with ground Rosemary and then I shove it into the oven - door closed (or open) for several hours. I then turn the beef liver using a pair of tongs so I won't burn myself. I have 4 "fur kids" and they absolutely LOVE when Breakfast time comes around. You should see them sit around the kitchen and wait for Breakfast. I love my Kids - and they love me too.

I cured chronic miserable yeasty ears in my dog by giving him sardines, and he loves them! Must be the omegas that he was low on. I started by giving a bigger portion to load him up & then maintenance is smaller portions, & just once daily. Be sure they are the canned in water variety with no seasoning. Canned sardines are cheap too. I store the open can in a sealed tupperware dish in fridge to minimize smell.

I dearly wish I still had my pet care diary from 30 years ago when I was fighting to heal my cats liver damage... and stumbled on rosemary to assist in speeding the recovery of his liver. He was exposed to a well known lawn treatment for weeds (Nutrilawn). He came home shortly after a neighbor had had her lawn treated, foaming at the mouth and I could see he was close to having a seizure, so raced him to my vet. No, I had no idea my neighbor was going to do this or I wouldn't have let my cat out. He was saved thankfully due to the livers great ability to recover but I always tried to help them achieve robust health using herbal and homeopathic remedies. The vet was amazed at how quickly his liver returned to normal. All I recall 30 years on was boiling up rosemary tea and giving this to him, though not where I sourced the information. Always check if an herb can be dangerous to a specific species, and start with dilute amounts. Clearly rosemary has many benefits

@MaryBywaters I erred on the side of caution, dosage wise and used a small syringe to force "fed" small amounts very carefully of rosemary tea. As I'd said, it's been a long time so I forget (without doing another deep dive, looking up the dosage). Some fear doing force feeding of anything, but with common sense and caution, it gives pets a fighting chance to recover from many illnesses they need not die of. It's not fun or pleasant, but for me... It's something one must be prepared to do when you get a pet. For example, there are many illnesses that take away the urge to drink, which creates nausea, which then make cats refuse to eat. Intervention early with force feeding fluids can save not just huge vet bills but a beloved pets life. If I were faced with another poisoning that caused liver damage, I would brew rosemary tea, use a small amount of dilute tea. Above all else, do no harm. Less is more, wait and see how it's tolerated.

Peanut butter.... be careful giving this to dogs. Only ONE tablespoon occasionally is suggested due to the fat content, as the fat is rendered. It's not the same as fat on raw meat sources their systems are designed to break down.

Green tea after brewing in a cup of really hot water then cooled in the fridge helps these allergic hot spots when dabbed on with a washcloth. I also use homemade Rosemary oil made with olive oil, *lightly* dabbed on fur , just enough to ward of mosquitoes and fleas. They do not like the smell. Mine is made from fresh Rosemary, that I grow, and a good olive oil ,cold pressed virgin , blended and mixed in the blender then strained into small jars…This is a good remedy for people too. We all use it! In Alabama, mosquitoes and fleas are a constant battle. I developed this oil for myself. It is safe for animals.. I reapply small dabs as needed if we go out.

Rosemary is also easy to grow. I am not fond of it, most people do like it tho. When I lived in FL I bought a nursery plant and put it in my garden. Someone had told me it kept ants away. It turned out looking like a shrub down there it grew so well over a few years. A friend liked the Rosemary so much she came and dug the plant up when we were moving. It was about 18-20" tall. Tobacsco pepper plant also turned into a miniature tree after a few years, even the leaves miniaturized. No one wanted that.

Back in my teens at school I made up a rosemary decoction (using the plant straight from the garden) for a teacher whose dogs were suffering some kind of grass allergy on their paw pads. It did the trick and calmed the symptoms down with eventual resistance to the problem (and he lent me an original Culpeper's Herbal he had in his home library for the summer holidays as a thank-you!) I made up a rosemary essential oil spray (30 drops diluted with 100ml water) for my dogs recently - they're lurchers and suffer from itching even when all other possible causes have been dealt with. When they start bothering themselves I give them a good spray and within minutes they're calmer.

misc. endeavours Acid emulsifies oil. Lemon juice or vinegar are your go-to choices. I disagree with the above comment though because a shake will do it and dog skin is way more alkaline than human skin so if you add acid you’ll lower the PH too much and introduce another reason for the dogs to itch.

You can also make your own capsules with rosemary you grow. You can get capsules that are empty and the pieces to make capsules. Using either a mortar and pestle or coffee grinder, pulverize rosemary leaves, not stems. Or you can make the pups favorite food, like eggs, and add minced or dry rosemary.

Five of my 8 animals developed Pancreatitis within a 5 day period, 2007. The dachshund and the Cornish Rex were both bathed in MALASEB. It was during the chinese pet food interval, however their food was NOT listed. Long stories.....and excruciating. Would love to have tried anything else to eliminate allergies. The sweet Rex was tormented by Alternaria. He was toxic when I got him as a kitten. I never relieved him. He DIED ITCHY and wearing his blue soft collar my mom in law sewed for him. It feels like absolute failure when you cannot relieve an animal of relentless scratching, night and day. He was allergic to Malaleuca. I tried EVERYTHING. Thank you for your compassionate life.

Dr. Andrew, one other thing to perhaps add by way of text on your video: I recently learned from Dr. Jean Dodds, that I should not be giving rosemary (or oregano) to my dog with seizures (started after his 3 year rabies shot.) Evidently, rosemary can trigger seizures in dogs with epilepsy. Many commercial dog foods have rosemary in them so if any of your viewers have seizure dogs, they should contact the dog food company if they don't make their own or do a raw diet and find out if the company is using rosemary as an ingredient. Thank you for your videos, love them!
