KitchenAid K5SS Stand Mixer

I believe this model is a 5 quart hence k5ss. The classic tilt head model k45ss is a 4.5 quart. SS just means the mixer has a solid state motor. I don't know if these model numbers are based on capacity alone, but maybe it was true back then.

Thank You Johnny for your video it helped alot I had gave this to my mom for Christmas and we was trying to figure out how it went up but It doesn't you just have to move the lever

I have the same mixer K5ss by Hobbart. Does Does anyone know how to adjust the bowl clearance. This machine does not have the screw that adjusts the clearance like the K45ss does. The manual says to consult an authorized dealer for this. I called around and nobody in my area works on mixers. Any help would be appreciated.

Might have to use the adjustment nut that is inside the neck of the machine. I just got one my self so I'm still messing with it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bprWknyfYrR5eas

There's a screw you adjust above where the bowl hooks into the stand mixer. You'll see a small column and you'll have to turn your upside down almost to see it. They say to put a dime in the bowl and adjust so that it just moves the dime intermittently. If your beater is getting chipped it's adjusted too far down, if it leaves unmixed ingredients in the bowl bottom it's adjusted to high. Look for directions online and it tells you. No beaters from KA that work but there are some after-market ones and mine works fine. I'm keeping this K5SS because the newer KA stand mixers aren't as powerful for bread kneading - directions say to stop every 2 minutes - unless you get the top-of-the-line.

Sounds like your whisk is hitting the bowl! Back it off a bit.

@@matrixofdeath Check on-line if you don't have the manual! I bought one of those for my mom decades ago just before Hobart/KitchenAid sold their appliance division to Maytag, my mom has since passed away so I gave the machine to my niece. They really are better than the new ones!! And my older sister still uses the one she bought in the early 1970s' (when Hobart still built them).

@@ottovonostrovo1486 There's a little screw that does the trick :D The one i got is not Hobart but KitchenAid Inc and it's 350w which is weird can't find any online ^^ I'll probably going to open it and check the grease so i'lll wont tear up donno if there's any gasket or something else i should check aswell in the same time.

@@matrixofdeath "Hobart" was the company who used to make "KitchenAid" appliances until they sold the right to Maytag. Hobart sold KitchenAid to the Whirlpool Corporation in 1986. For several years after buying KitchenAid Maytag continued to build the KitchenAid K5SS stand mixer as it was built under Hobart!

@@ottovonostrovo1486 Thank You I was confused when the one in the video and other videos said Hobart but the one I gave to My mom for Christmas said KitchenAid I thought I had a knock off or something
