I loved your video. My daughter does planner videos and is so honest if she makes mistake. Just like you did. You did an awesome job. Thank you. My husband said the only Why way he will let me put my professional kitchen aid mixer back on my counter is if I make a cover. Thank you multiple times.

I JUST finished one today before I found your video, I actually did not put inside fabric in the inside! I think it’s just as pretty honestly! And it SAVES on fabric that’s so expensive! Yours is very pretty as well! Mine is with cupcakes as well but in different colors

Thank you for this! I was looking for a way to make a kitchen aid cover to match my kitchen curtain and under the sink curtain. I made them out of table runners and a shower curtain I found on clearance. It is perfect!

Thank you for the tutorial. I love this kind of tutorial, its just feel real, and easier to understand. You highlight problems we might find on the process, and you gave the solution. You did such a good job. I will make this soon.

Love that you are open and honest about your mistakes and that little "I lied it's horrible" commentary, lol At least we see what happens if we rush sewing on bias tape, lol It can be a pain. I learned I have to sew it at almost snail speed to get it right or I have to pin it first but I'd rather sew real slow then deal with the pins.

An edge joining foot is great for sewing on binding. Put the first seam on with a regular foot and the second fold seam with a edge joining foot. Put the edge of the binding up against the metal center bit and the needle 1/4 inch to the right. I saw a video on youtube showing how to do this

Thank you for this video, it was really good and helpful. I LOVE your accent ( I'm here in England) I'm guessing you're in the South? I was thinking you might enjoy getting a extension plate for the sewing machine, it makes life easier when you're working on a wide piece of fabric.....just a thought. I like your no-nonsense approach, I too curl a lip up at Bias tape!!

Excellent tutorial! Just what I am looking for. I'm new-ish to sewing. Your "horrible" is how mine usually looks LOL I think the project looks great! Thank you!

Ok, I see the problem. You most likely won't like how I would do it. I would hand sew the type instead of top stitch, or I would hand baste then top stitch. I like hand stitching the best. I do love your project, came out great. Cute fabric choice too. Fun to watch.
@AFateSoTwisted8 жыл бұрын
+Marjie C Ugh....I've seen a lot of blogs that talk about hand basting it first. I guess that is the way to go, but I am such an impatient person. Hand basting would have me in fits in a matter of minutes. LOL!

I made the unfortunate decision of cutting the pattern larger than instructed so my finished product was a bit huge. The above tutorial was EASY to follow and it came out pretty good. I also made the mistake of cutting 4 pieces for the ʻbodyʻ, which resulted in two extra pieces. At least I can learn from my mistakes should I decide to try this again. I just might do it again and make some for friends. Thank you!!!

OMG! You are so funny! I loved your video. A girl after my own heart. I absolutely hate bias tape and blanket binding!! Mine always comes out like yours no matter how careful and slow I go. I have hand stitched it before but who the heck really wants to do all that? I bought quilted fabric to make a Kitchen Aid mixer cover and I plan on just seaming it without the bias tape at all! I have been watching other videos and reading tutorials on making this project but your idea about marking the center of the pieces makes sense and now I think I am ready to get that cover made. Thanks again.

I love this, im gonna try this! ps: I use a decorative stitch on the bias tape because it kind of covers the little wonky lines :) Does it fit your mixer if you leave the bowl in place?

Yes! I love the rounded ends for the cover and especially creating it like this avoids another piece for the lining. I used to be somewhat terrified of not getting things straight, I will probably use a tape to keep my outside edges of the bias tape even. I officially am scared of and do not necessarily like tape, too. And, I like the idea of the pre-purchased bias binding, Joanns has it on sale right now, so why not, right? Great video and I subscribed to keep in touch. Thanks.

I was hoping this pattern would have worked for my mixer, but after adding up the measurements on this pattern to a fit unfortunately it will not work for my large KitchenAid mixer. They are not all equal in size depending on the model so will now have to come up with one on my own. I my use this one though for another appliance it will fit over. TY!

You can also use muslin on the inside if you have no intention of turning it inside out - using the binding makes it difficult to due it anyways

You need to buy a Bias Tape Binding Foot. You can get them from Brother or Sail Rite is you have a machine that it will fit on. It makes it much easier to apply the tape.

When I printed the Pattern and checked the measurements, I had to print it on Legal paper because Letter paper was too small. The measurements are close, but not exact. I will be adjusting the size of the pattern to make it more correct. I suppose all printers are different.
