7 June 2020. Thank you so much for this video. I'm serving in the US NAVY and my wife said not to go to sea without fixing the oven. She told me it stopped working after the self cleaning cycle. Thanks so much for this clear and easy to follow video! It worked for us! I ran the cleaning cycle on our dual fuel kitchen aid oven that we purchased in 2004 and found your video. My husband got the part and followed the video and it works! Really appreciate the video!

Great video! My wife ran the self-clean cycle (or 'self-destruct' cycle as the appliance repair company called it). I was pretty sure that I could do this repair myself based on your video (and sure enough, what you did is EXACTLY what the appliance repair company did) but called them anyways since I was only 1 person and wasn't sure about getting the oven out. $275 and 30 minutes later the repair company got it working, but if it happens again, will do it myself for less than $40. Repair company also said we could use the blue cap 'easy off' despite it being a convection oven and despite the bottle saying not to use it for convection - but better to use that can than possibly breaking the circuit board or other parts.

Love this video. I ordered a new Thermal fuse from Amazon and note that they have changed it from the original one but it still works the same, It cost me $28 and my husband did not take the door off. He just pulled it out and took the back panel off. It took him about Ten minutes. Thanks for saving me a bunch of money. My oven stopped working after I cleaned it.

Matt, thank you very much. I used you tips to fix my oven after self-clean heating issue (Kitchenaid oven). I replaced the fuse and everything is working again. The fuse in my oven is located slightly differently (on the side under the top panel) so it was more difficult to find the bugger than to replace it. I spent about $50 and 1 hour of fixing time. Saved a few hundred $.

This video was fantastic, it saved me a lot of time. Have the same oven with a Fan assist (convection) and just after using the clean feature it threw a code F5E5. Searching forums quickly made me suspect the thermal fuse as many state the problem is common. So i searched KZbin for a video for installing and uninstalling this oven finding this video. Watching this video definitely reduced the time involved to perform this procedure and because of it I ran into no issues. Fortunately the installation was virtually identical to the video, I was afraid that the wiring cable would be short but it was sufficient. Thank you again! We had much to bake and could not get a tech in time so I had to do this and this video made it easy!

***** we were able to follow your video. The issue we ran into is our brand (GE) hides the thermostat fuse. We practically took the entire oven apart unable to locate the part. The repair man would charge $65 just to come tell us where it is. My stove still works but the oven is out of commission. I would love to see videos on other brands, particularly GE :) according to other sites for repairs state that ge makes it near impossible to find sine of the parts we can replace. I've searched and searched site after site with no luck. I think we're going tomorrow to purchase a new oven. Thank you so much for your videos. Anytime issues occur I will check here first.

4:40 I had a microwave oven fail with a similar "thermal limit" mounted on the top outside of the oven chamber. Visited the local appliance repair parts shop and the guy slams my old one on the counter and says, "I will work now." All it took to reset it was a heavy blow. The same is not the case for a true "thermal fuse" that melts a junction when excess temp is reached.

Matt, thank you so much. Why have self-clean on an oven if this is what happens when I use it? I can't do this repair job myself, but I am sure this is the problem. Thank you for this video. I have a totally different oven model and I managed to find a switch that looked like the one in the video. Mine had a reset button on it. Pressed reset, and everything works Like a charm. It didn't cost a single buck! Would have cost 200$ to get someone to come and push that button. Mine also stopped working after self cleaning. I have the exact same problem with my Kitchen Aid double wall oven, the lower oven will not work after self clean. I was unable to see the ohm meter on the video. Hi There I enjoyed watching your video but one thing struck me as odd, here in the UK oven housing units have a ventilation space at the back which is sealed off from any cupboards above or below the oven by a false back, leaving a ventilation space from the base of the cupboard to the top, and a vent fitted in the kickboard at the bottom front so all the heat at the back of the oven can rise up the back of the cupboard and out at the top. The cupboard this oven was installed in appeared to be sealed is that normal in the US. Thanks Chris.

I have a GE double oven model# j kp28b0f5bb everything turns on normal but it does not heat up only the top burner gets hot on the bottom half of the oven what could it be?
@Appliancevideo10 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you have two problems going on. Allways check to make sure you have proper voltage coming in to the unit 220 volts. The top burner could have a bad burner socket or a bad electric burner. If the oven is not heating check your bake element, if you see any bubbling on the element or a burnt spot replace it. Please support our parts department at 1-800-830-5465 open 7- days a week. I am reading different advice from different sources ...first it says the problem is the fuse, then someone says the thermostat..then someone says the blower..then the sensor??! Which do I start with in the process of elimination or are any of these parts one in the same??? I have the same problem...the oven is DOA (although it does power on and show the desired temp for setting for a few seconds but then stays cold)...all after I did a self clean and on the DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!?? UGH!
