@@collettetaylor1508 well to be fair there are probably 1K Cuban restaurants in Miami and its likely hard to stand out so they figured they would go with a different niche. I literally learned cooking, cleaning and housekeeping to remain self-dependent as long as my body allows. Interesting fact is about 80% of Kitchen nightmares featured restaurants were closed off after the show, because they were either just too far gone down the ground o the owners/chefs reverted back to old habits again. Sad for the employees, they could have left for better job. But they stuck to it, loved their workplace, loved their bosses.

So I don’t know… Btw, I said I enjoy Florida. If you ask me what country I love I would have to say Sweden with Norway very very close (it may be the other way around if I spoke Norwegian instead of Swedish.) Living in Stockholm for a year as a student was one of my nicest years of my life ❤️. (I had already studied 1,5-2y of Swedish at university prior to doing a few courses there, which helped greatly as all my courses were in Swedish. No exception and I only used English with other exchange students. Had I failed because I thought I was better at Swedish than Iwae, well too bad for me, but then I shouldn’t have applied as I knew beforehand it would be fully in Swedish. It was great speaking my favorite language for a year and also be able to make more Swedish friends that way, and not just be restricted to international students. The Swedes seemed more open to a foreigner who spoke their language as apparently they are pretty selfconscious about their English and rather not need to use it. (Average person). That notion was told by a Swede 4years prior to me moving there, which is now 26y so things could very well be very different now with social media. Nobody even knew why that was, I believe Facebook didn’t exist. Just MySpace and Hyves lol. I’m done rambling superofftopic that nobody even read 🤣

This has to be one of the best episodes of kitchen nightmares. The chef is trusted and wants to work and change without fight, the servers have been there for ages, are loyal and are like family, and the owners took the jump they needed to, stayed calm, stayed grateful, stayed genuine. The couple's love is apparent and the whole place feels like a community. When the kitchen equipment was revealed everyone went to the chef to congratulate him and hug him. This may be one of the only episodes I've dropped a tear over :)

Even though I do like this episode, I get annoyed when Scandinavian food is shown as "bad and plain" food while spicy food is shown as exciting and flavorful as a contrast. Scandinavian food is super delicious, it just doesn't use many spices since they didn't exist here until more modern times. This climate isn't exactly the ideal one for growing spices. Scandinavian food is almost always shown as plain in comparison to other culture's food, and that's too bad. Just because a lot of our food is simple that doesn't make it bad.

I would love to try authentic Scandinavian food as I’m sure it’s delicious when done right. I think part of the issue here is what’s being served is clearly *bad* Scandinavian food, hence the lack of taste. It’s a damn shame that the genre gets thrown under the bus when really it’s no one’s fault, the chef doesn’t have that kind of experience. It would be like asking me, a guy of Latin descent, to make French cuisine when I’ve never even tasted it.

Firefighter here: oil fires are no joke as any fire. But oil fires only get dangerous because someone did not stay calm. A pan that is on fire won't spread that fast, take a second to relax and then make a calm decision. Cover it with some fireproof blanket or lid or just take the pan outside where it can't spread. Oil fires in pots or pans only bear one single trap: water. Don't! Add! Water!!

@drstihl2007
@drstihl2007 Жыл бұрын
@@R_S4_B5 As i said the danger is pretty low. But if you add water to a fat fire then it instantly vaporizes due to the high temperature and thus rapidly expands with a factor of 1600. And it carries burning fat liquid and therefore create a huge fireball. That's kinda the only danger. Metal fire by the way has the same effect, only the mechanism is different. There the temperature is that high that the water splits into oxygen and hydrogen. And a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is highly explosive.

They're there, perhaps, because word got around town that Gordon and his TV crew are in town. Seeing from their age group, clearly not all of them are the usual clientele. They may play it up a bit, to get their 5 minutes in the limelight, but they're also excited at the prospect of maybe tasting one of Gordon's dishes. Amateur wannabe food critics are bound to be joining in the fun. The sudden influx of customers probably causes the kitchen to be busy and make more mistakes, too.

The renovated restaurant looks more like danish restaurants look nowadays too. As a matter of fact it looks very Scandinavian. I love how old customers will go to YELP to express their discontent with the "new menu" but the f-ing restaurant was empty all the time which is why they even asked for Gordon to come. I've started to notice a re-occurring theme with the show. These restaurants actually think they're doing shit the right way, but think they don't have the marketing budget so they invite Ramsay to come through, and then they find out that their restaurant is actually shit from a vetted, experienced chef and successful business owner. 9.5/10 times, if the restaurant is shit, it's because the owners are ok with it being shit and don't have the skill or discipline to run a successful business. How the fuck you own a restaurant and never go into the fridge? lmao
