Not much welding in this video, as always my welding videos are about my continuing effort to try to be a better welder, .. it's taking time to acquire those skills 😂 & despite doing a bit of welding since young, watching every video online & now having a half decent welder in real life it's not as easy as they make it appear 😊 So I don't & can't hide the mistakes 😂
I cut the 40x20mm sq box steel & 20x8mm steel bar using a MAKITA LC1230N metal cutting chop saw. I drilled the holes using an Axminster Professional AP325PD Bench Pillar Drill, & I welded the frame together using an R-Tech 180 Amp Portable Inverter Mig Welder (240v). My welding is still a bit rubbish so I didn't include much but they turned out ok tho & got powder coated.
They get fitted in my next video.

This yr I'm going to just take on little jobs to get myself back up n running but I'm not stopping working so I'll keep filming & uploading, slowly things should get back to something like normal. There's a few from 2022 still to come.

😂👍 Yeah I think it was one of those days, welding is just a tad out of my comfort zone, there was a bit of money spent on materials & I was hot 😂. I do the same when editing my clips, that's why sometimes there's added text on screen, just to point out that 'yeah I see that mistake too' 🤦‍♂️😂

@@GidjoinerI know that feeling...it's out of mine too, and I don't feel that I do it often enough to be getting good at it. I just keep telling myself that unlike wood, if I make a mess of it then I can always chop it off and stick a new bit back on. Then hopefully with some creative grinding I can get it to a point where the paint hides my lack of skill. 😂😂 Can't do that with an oak worktop!

@@Gidjoiner Your welcome Gid, 👍 You probably burnt it out spraying. What brand did you get? Does it have a 100 litre tank? Direct drive or belt drive? I'm going to set up a spraying system in my W/S, not Today or Tomorrow but it's on my list. I'm thinking a 100 litre tank would be the minimum I'd need for a pneumatic system...🤔
@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 3 ай бұрын
I don't think I burnt it out as such, it wasn't constantly running & it's surprising how much 50L will do but as I say you could tell it was a bit too small, it was 10 or more yrs old, the compressor part worked fine, it was something about the shut-off that stopped working, I didn't look after it tho 😂 I bought this one TH141501 £556, Thorite are just down the rd from me www.thorite.co.uk/products/thorite-th141501-workshop-air-compressor-3-hp-9-cfm?__hstc=181813048.2f3f33a24b44870ec4a577029c49e44b.1714694400075.1714694400076.1714694400077.1&__hssc=181813048.1.1714694400078&__hsfp=892594048 I always thought I bought a 200L but hovering over the pic in the link it says 150L, the 200L one costs a bit more so maybe I took their advice & decided 150L was enough.. Got a pic of when I got it but can't find emails or receipts.. I'm off out to the shed & see if I can see the size, . Yeah there's a welded on plate that says V150L .

@@Gidjoiner Nice one Gid, thanks for the reply and information. It's a belt driven compressor, heavier but quieter than a direct drive. I can pick up a SIP 100litre direct drive compressor locally for around €565. It's a vertical model so it would save space as I can park it in a corner. I'll probably build some kind of sound proof garage for it. Would 100l be enough for a pneumatic spraying system though?
@Gidjoiner
@Gidjoiner 3 ай бұрын
100L will easily do for spraying, I managed without issue using that 50L & I never noticed a loss in pressure, 1 cup of paint in the gun will spray roughly 1½ 8x4 boards which I could do in one constant spray, no pausing for pressure to build , My spraygun is set at 20psi which isn't much, & when buying a compressor the CFM ''is more important than tank size'' you'd have to Google that but basically it's how fast the tank fills back up. This 150L I bought has 9cfm which is low compared to others & I think it's a fraction higher to the 50L I had (7 - 8.2cfm depending on what site you read 🤷‍♂️) the 150L just takes a bit longer before the air drops to the point that it needs to refill. You'll see in my future vids I spray on site with my 6L compressor, it did the job but I really did have to wait for it to fill after just a short spray 😂😂
