Three Beginner Mistakes on Kiteboarding Transitions and How to Fix Them

Here are three of the most common mistakes we see beginner kiteboarders make when learning how to transition. We go over the mistakes and how to fix them.

Best video on transitions! Thank you Antony. I made the first mistake, steering the kite to 12 too early. Tried to summarize your tips: Transition in 3 steps: 1) Edge upwind and push the bar out. DO NOT move the kite to 12 yet! 2) Pull bar slightly and shift your weight to your back leg BEFORE you stop. Move the kite to the other side. 3) Follow the kite (ride downwind the first meters). Only then, move upwind.

My transitions are not always clean.... sometimes okay, sometimes not, without knowing exactly "why"....... after watching your video, it slaps me immediately : point #1 for me !! I move the kite up to 12 and sheet-out the bar, "then", too late, try so stop by edging upwind.... with the kite already too high ! (points #2 and #3 are good for me). So many thanks for this video, will try to correct me next session ! 👌✌

From Argentina! Antony, nice explanation. I'm still do not find a tutorial of how to land a jump. There are many videos of how to jump better, edging, line tension, pop. Ok with that, but for me and I guess for many beginners and intermediate kiters, the problem is HOW TO LAND A JUMP. That precise moment deserves a tutorial video, in my opinion. Please consider it.

Hold your edge and push the control bar out.. you'll stop if you keep the bar out
