I think it would have been a pretty cool thing if part of killing Radahn also triggered the spawning of the falling star beasts around the map, maybe even an overworld version of those baby Astels too. I feel like that would help add to the "why" behind Radahn freezing the stars with his gravity magic and possibly why they are imbued with it after being steeped in it for who knows how long.

I like this theory a whole lot, it does make a lot of sense that the fingerslayer blade was forged from a previous elden god given its similarities to the sacred relic sword. I wonder why it is twisted and deformed, perhaps since the Sacred Relic Sword was created by the EB, the "living incarnation of the concept of order" it is perfect for lack of a better term, and since the fingerslayer blade was forged by the Nox, beings who are "imperfect" the blade is all weird and gross looking. Anyways, great video! I cant wait to see what the DLC reveals to us about Marika(and hopefully the Greater Will).

Hey, great video! Love the nox lore and there's still a lot of mystery to decipher there. One little detail I wanted to point out: the item descriptions either for the fire giant remembrance weapons or the remembrance itself hints that the fel God of flame isn't actually dead. He was Imprisoned! The last fire giant, the one we fight? He, his body is that prison. By killing him we are freeing that God, to eventually take another form like the goddess of rot did through Melania. That's the way I interpret things from the description at least. Food for thought!

I have to wonder if Marika was part of the Noxian plot but betrayed them. After all, the Nox are descended from the Numen. Marika helped in the creation of the blade used it on the Giant's god and then asceneded to godhood alongside the greater will. After being betrayed, the Nox turned on her and were then banished to the dark by the traitor Marika and her new master. Mmthis isbonly shower thought level but it's fun all the same.

Oh that would be so devious of her; that kind of parallels what Ranni did to Godwyn in working with the Black Knives, later for them to attempt to kill her (maybe she didn't make good on her end on the bargain?) Great theory, going to have to think more about that!

With the additional finger related lore from the DLC... I wonder if the blade was used on Metyr, maybe it wasn't enough to kill her but it could be the reason why the Greater Will stopped responding. Also the naming of the Cathedrals of Manus Metyr and Manus Celes, suggests that there was an entity called "Celes" in a similar position as Metyr. Perhap that entity was the target...or it could be actually the name of the Elden Beast but i think i'm entering into tinfoil hat territory.

I'm think the Gloom Eyed Queen was the Queen of the Noxian Eternal City and the Godskins her elite forces. This ties into the godkilling magical tech like the Finger-Slaying Blade and the Godskins suits as the GEQ was the vessel of the Outer God of Destined Death. While she couldn't have the Greater Will killed, she could have all of their Finger heralds killed to remove the Will's lines of communication. But then the Greater Will said "f*** subtlety" and dropped Void beasts from the sky on them and seduced the GEQ's daughter Marika into being the Will's champion. Marika and Malekith defat the GEQ and seal away the Rune of Death to depower any surviving Noxian Death based abilities. Then the Noxians get back at Marika with the Night of Black Knives and the cycles of revenge continue.

@lexmortis57227 ай бұрын
The finger slayer blade is small and deformed, like an infant that died due to complications. Its also very grey, dull and crooked. Placi's wife could have died during labor and the Nox found her corpse with the half dragon baby or she left out of grief after giving birth to a dead child, a half dragon, somewhere in the lands between where the greater Will could not intervene, since its focus was in the storm beyond time in Farum Azula. Edit: the baby of Placi and the prior Elden God would have been able to control time and would have inherited traits from their mother, presumably making them an empyrean like Rani, that could defy the greater Will with time warping abilities. The greater Will could not have a greater enemy than a time traveler. Edit over. But its safe to say that the Nox did not have the ability to harm a god, that requires something that messes with time or something we dont know yet. The Fell God is an outer God, it had no body, thats why it dwelled within the Fire Giants and why its corpse could not have been used for this blade. There is a lot of evidence of the Nox above ground, the architecture of many cities and the symbolism of the carians have heavy Nox influence, some ruins are straight up Nox architecture. Its unlikely that the greater Will physically banished the Nox underground because that would be the first and only instance of the greater Will actually doing something in the physical world, the golden meteor (the elden beast) was an indirect action through a vassal. The Astel would have golden aspects galore if they had any remote connection to the Greater Will. Its unlikely that they are connected, simply because of the almost complete division of starlight and gold. More likely that the Nox summoned Astel with a failed ritual (Eternal Darkness) in an attempt to create a zone free of the influence of the greater Will (the successfully ritual would be a superior version of Thops Barrier) and Astel took the cities underground and ruining them, separating the Nox from their Moon and the Erdtree, which would have also blessed the Nox as long as they could be in its rays of light. That would have sparked enough reason to create the fingerslayer blade, a last ditch effort to not just repel but destroy the influence of the greater Will and its domination over fate and the cycle of ages. After they used it once, it was no longer a secret and so they got sealed underground. Whoever they used it on, it was not enough. After this they discovered and experimented with silver, which could be the essence or blood of the dark moon. Eternal Darkness states that it is the very thing that brought despair to the eternal cities made manifest, if it would be a response to Astel than the text would be completely different. More like "A symbol of the despair that befell the Nox, created in response to the destruction of their city". The reason why it makes no sense that this spell was used to capture Astel and why Astel is not a vassal or beast or anything of the greater Will is the fact that there are many Astel, like the one in Yelough Anix Tunnel, and that they are being "created" via the evolution of the Falling Star Beasts. If the spell "Eternal Darkness" already existed before the main attack of Astel on the city, then their city would not have been destroyed or even ruined like it is, since they could have defended themselves. Since this spell opens a literal gateway to the eternal void, its pretty much safe to say that this spell, in a mega ritual, could have easily summoned a full grown Beast out of that void. Your video is a banger, i am subbed now.
@kitetales7 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the comment!! I considered if the Nox accidentally summoned Astel as well like some kind of ritual gone wrong, or if they thought they could copy the Greater Will and summon their own beast on a star. But in the end I don’t think I could make sense timeline wise of them doing that in relation to them being banished underground, their moon destroyed; “Long ago, the Nox invoked the ire of the Greater Will, and were banished deep underground” makes me think they had to have been sent there before their moon was destroyed? I might have to put a little timeline of different possibilities together.
@lexmortis57227 ай бұрын
@@kitetales My guess to the timeline is this: The dark moon of the Nox got destroyed by the Golden Stars Meteor (the Elden Beast, which came from Farum Azula after their golden age ended) prohibiting the Age of the Dark Moon. The Nox got suppressed soon after by the greater Will because they wished for another age, that made them try to banish the influence of the greater Will with a secret ritual. That ritual failed and summoned an Astel who took the Nox cities underground by destroying them with gravity magic, seeding multiple other Astel in the process throughout the underground (except that grown one in the mountains, that one is probably older because its stronger). This would have been a huge spectacle, making the plan of the Nox obvious. The greater Will then decreed that no Nox are ever allowed to set foot above ground again, but that they would be granted Erdtree burial if they so choose (Great Waterbasin cutscene). This provoked the Nox, who now could not even resurface to see the nights sky, leading to their final and blasphemous treason. This could then have caused the "Nox Eradication Event" that melted so many Nox into statues. The statues could also be caused by the destruction of the Dark Moon itself. Silver would then be the essence of the Dark Moon, sap of the sky essentially. The reason why i guess that all these events had to be seperate in the timeline is the fact that Martin and Myazaki are both worldclass storytellers and that squishing all of this, with a 5 thousand year time span to place these events, into 1 day would be cheap and boring, it would not be the political bloodbath that both of these geniuses are known for creating.

Reading into more about the ancient dragons, a couple of things stood out to me that make me think there's a bit more to this theory: -Ancient Dragon Prayerbook is said: "Prayerbook of the capital's ancient dragon cult. A lost tome that never reached the Lands Between. Contains red lightning incantations." It's strange that, despite the cult being positioned in the capital, it "never reached the Lands Between" -The fingerslayer blade was, of course, used to kill Godwyn the Golden; his dragon companion who entered into him in some form, Lichdragon Fortissax, is known for using red lightning. His sibling is "Ancient Dragon" Lansseax. -The Ancient Heros of Zamor, enemies of the fire giants, were known for using ice abilities. At nearly the same era, the Dragonkin were created in the Eternal City, born in darkness under a false sky, they too use only ice lightning abilities. -ice lightning and red lightning, assassin's creulean and crimson daggers (black knives)... The star-crossed lovers, Radagon and Rennala of the Red-haired Sun and the Blue Moon. In British medieval history, there is a story about Alexander the Great's expedition to India, where it was said he discovered Two Trees of Sun and Moon; some tellings also speak of a Dry Tree where the legendary phoenix nests (might also connect to the biblical story of the burning bush); this was the basis of JRR Tolkein's Twin Trees of Valinor from the Silmarillion & The Legendarium. Perhaps it was also George R.R. Martin's inspiration for the intertwining trees, and their convergence during the sacred and sinful Eclipse-- some consider it an ending... others a beginning.

Great video! As always, your narration, production, shot composition, and that intro, were all spectacular. I only have to disagree with the theory, but only on a superficial level and not on the substance, that the crime against Greater Will they were punished for wasn't just trying to kill god. The Nox are primarily known for the Silver Tear Mimics and all that they can create: melted mushrooms, dew kissed herba, flowing swords and maces, trolls, and even people. Perhaps their crime was not attempting to kill god, but to copy god. Perhaps their crime was attempting to make the greatest mimic of all, the fingerslayer blade being born of the corpse of that mimic. What do you think?
@kitetales7 ай бұрын
Yo Jack!! Thanks so much! So the reason that I don't think the Nox were trying to create an artificial lord until AFTER they were banished is because of the info on the Dragonkin Soldiers "being born in the Eternal Cities and never knowing a true sky." (Frozen Lightning Spear) I think this would place all their mimicry experiments later on the timeline. Also the Fingerslayer Blade says that it's proof of "high treason" and treason is the act of either trying to overthrow a ruling sovereign or doing them harm, and the fact that "blood-drenched" proceeds just that line makes me think the treason committed is the reason it's covered in blood. I didn't get into it in this video, but the Fallen Hawks were a band of slaves sent to Nokron long ago to find it, and I think it's because the Greater Will or Marika wanted it. It's just got a little too much importance not to be related to their downfall. We might have to have a Discord study session about this one!!

Post-DLC, I think your theory really strengthens and answers some meaningful conclusions about the history we’re missing. As a hypothetical timeline: 1. Placidusax’s God “flees” during his fight with Bayle. This God doesn’t flee but is kidnapped and killed elsewhere since there’s no evidence of a struggle. This God very well could be the Twinbird. As the original avatar of death, the corpse should provide a meaningful weapon to form the Finger Slaying blade. The Numen/Nox are involved in this act, possibly giving the first version of the Elden Ring to the GEQ. Either way, through betrayal or otherwise, the GW learns of this seditious, heretical act. Likely through Ymir which I can address later. After this, two things happen in whichever order. 2. The Greater Will, learning of this betrayal grabs the Planet itself and forms the schism formation of the lands between, its very grip being observable through the finger ruins themselves. The eternal cities are plunged into the terra. 3. The Black Moon representing the guiding star of the betrayers and possible an outer God influencing the Nox, is destroyed through Astel bombardment. 3. In reaction to, or catalyzing the other event, the Nox take the twinbirds body or a portion of it and through dark rite form the finger slaying blade, this magic is probably taught by the black moon thus necessitating it’s obliteration. They use the finger slayer blade to wound Metyr, who is described as being grievously broken and wounded. This would explain why the blade has been used before and the REAL reason the Greater Will abandoned the lands between, he was severed from his Wi-Fi connection. 4. In whichever order you choose, the fingers which were coming from Metyr know the mission of making a new Elden Ring Order remains but they no longer have instruction. Aimlessly, they select empyreans and Marika is eventually chosen for the last formation of an Elden Ring. 5. Ymir knows all of this. He tells you from the start Metyr and the fingers, who instructed Marika, were acting on bad information. Metyr’s items say she hasn’t received a message in ages. Ymir’s quest conveniently tricks you into killing Metyr. Ymir’s staff was made to mirror Metyr’s microcosm and he tells you he wants to be the new mother of fingers that isn’t broken. 6. I think Ymir was a Nox sage/sorcerer that betrayed his people to become a vassal to the Greater Will in the hopes of having his son reborn just like Miquella. His gear says he taught moon sorceries to Rellana but abandoned them because the moon is just the closest celestial body. So he abandoned the Noxian ideology as well. His gear worships the GW. 7. Jolan and Anna were swords of the Night, broken and made subservient through the trauma of their upbringing they had no idea that Ymir’s love for them was just a casual manipulation of the ideologies that created them. This all fits together creepily well haha.

another name for the nox is night folk. the nox are what became of the numen after they were banished underground. they were living in the eternal cities above ground and the nameless eternal city is the result of that. that would mean that since marika is a numen as well, it might have been marika's plan to make the finger slaying blade. also astel and elden beast both have that nebula explosion attack
@Terminalsanity7 ай бұрын
I think you might want add a follow up to this taking into account that the Black Knife Assassins who are Numen and said to be related to Marika are also scions (AKA inheritors) from the Eternal Cities, When you consider that and how all the Night Magics developed by the Nox revolve around concealment/invisibility, the secret Nox operations in Sellia and possibly the Mirage Tower, and how the Nox Maidens share their move-set with the Black Knife Assassins and similar scaled armor it would seem the Night of Black Knives was a long planned clandestine plot of the Nox to get secretly get revenge on Marika, her Golden Order and the Greater will for their banishment.

This is kind of out there, but what if the Nox (or whatever they were called at the time because underworld history is confusing) wielded a previous version of the Elden Ring, and drew the ire of the Greater Will by smashing it? I've always gotten the sense that Placidusax's era took place long before Marika's, with any number of ages in between. Then again, it's hard to tell where the ancient dragons fit into the timeline, especially due to their strange influence on time itself. But, imagining that it was a remote early era, maybe Placidusax's god also broke the Ring, and was taken away or imprisoned like Marika. The memory of grace item that every character starts the game with tells us, after all, that "it is merely a cycle. Stand before the Elden Ring. Become the Elden Lord."

Hmm, I don't necessarily see the connection from the fingerslayer blade to Placidusax. Not impossible of course, but I rate Gloam-Eyed Queen's black flame as slightly more likely given Melina can send us to Farum Azula and we find the Godskins there at a temple with a massive dead ancient dragon. "Gods" is a tricky term in Elden Ring because it's used two ways, which I think are being conflated: 1. The entities that embody a powerful concept, such as will, rot, ruination, frenzy, etc. These are more like forces of nature that have no physical body and can't be killed. We see this with the Fell God which could never be eradicated by Marika even when the Giants were utterly defeated. Also scarlet rot persists as a huge threat despite the scorpion of the lake of rot being defeated. 2. Vessels of those entities are often referred to as gods. They can be killed by weapons crafted from other vessels' bodies and also destined death. With that basis, we can understand why Placidusax awaits the return of his god. The vessel may have been slain, but the force they wielded must remain in some capacity. There are still some big questions like "what force?" and "who was the vessel?" that can only be speculated. The god themselves may hold sway over the passage of time, and Placidusax could've been both lord and vessel, for example.
@kitetales7 ай бұрын
Yeah the terminology of “god” “deity” and “lord” is an interesting discussion because they seem to hold interchangeable rank in the game. Thanks so much for the well-thought out comment!

I feel like Astel may not have been intentional, but merely cruel irony that they worshiped the moon and the stars and it became their downfall ultimately. (although it would be kind of funny if somehow the greater will could yeet stars at the world intentionally). I also think the fingerslayer blade is infused with Death with how it's so twisted and curved just like the Black Knives (which I think is an intentional comparison, as in my eyes the slaying of the god might've been the prototype of the night of the black knives that Ranni drew inspiration from) This video also got me thinking of how these acts connect to the overall narrative. It makes sense that a civilization that spread across the world (as some people have speculated the lower areas of Leyndell were the same architectural designs as the eternal city) having their own culture overrun by the worship of the Erdtree and succumbing to the influence of the greater will would scheme to do something about it. I know Marika is tied to the Eternal City by the assassin's close to her, and while it's kind of a tired thought of everything being somehow Marika's doing, it does make you think. The Nox are so obsessed with producing a Lord but not worried about an Empyrean to become their god? Hm.... Marika somehow being involved in the Nox's treason would potentially explain why she was so adamant about sealing the rune of death away AND why the dragons waged war on the Golden Order since surely the loss of their god and Placidusax withdrawing while the Golden Order run by Marika gained traction as dragon's power declined would cause some problems. It could also be why she was so ruthless in squashing potential threats to her and the Order. What would her motivations be for being involved with that? I don't know. It could be she simply witnessed all of this unfold and she learned from it to protect her own reign. I don't entirely know where I'm going with this 😅 Sorry for the long comment! (Also I like your necklace, don't know if you wore it intentionally to kind of mimic the memory stones but it's pretty either way!)

The revelation in the DLC that the Greater Will hasn't been in contact with anyone in the Lands Between for a very long time does present problems for several parts of tgis theory.
@Eruke177 ай бұрын
The only thing I don't agree with is when the sin happened. In the erdtree era existed the dragon cult, after Godwyn befriended Fortissax, which was bassically a dragon worshipping church accepted and integrated into the golden order, which was said not to conflict with belief in the Erdtree because both the dragons and lightning are imbued with gold. So I think this could have happened on both eras. But regardless I loved the theory, tbh it makes so much sense.
@kitetales7 ай бұрын
Yeah the timeline is such a beast to handle, and possible there were other ages not even mentioned? The fact that dragon worship wasn’t in competition with the Erdtree worship makes me wonder more about what happened there with their attack on Leyndell…
@michaeljohnston8891Күн бұрын
I think there’s much more going on with the Fingerslayer Blade than even this video puts forward. I think the Nox most likely attacked Metyr with this weapon, and although it didn’t kill her, it may be what severed her connection to the GW. Might even explain her super fucked up birth canal. I think the Blade becomes especially interesting when you consider the high likelihood that Placidusax’s god may have been none other than the Gloam-Eyed Queen. It would make sense why such a weapon could deliver death to the vassals of the Greater Will with the essence it’s made from. I think the shape of the blade is quite interesting as well. Like the Sacred Relic Sword, it exhibits a spiral pattern, but its curvature reminds me a lot of the Scadutree. Much like how the Scadutree’s broken spiral symbolizes the removal of something crucial from the Golden Order, I think something was removed from the Blade. I think this removed essence eventually made its way to Marika via becoming host to the Elden Beast. It would explain why so many of her children exhibit blasphemous attributes that were once venerated in the ancient past; Godwyn’s Draconic affinities, Rykard’s proclivity to Blasphemy, Radahn’s gigantism, Messmer’s profane fire.

I've always wondered where the fingerslayer blade actually came from, I thought maybe it was made from the body of godwyn in the night of the black knives, but that would put it far too late in the timeline, and nothing about the fingerslayer is associated with death, so i thought it was pretty shaky. This makes a lot more sense, ty!
@DakkaBert3 ай бұрын
To the point of it possibly being the fell god, the fell god isn't actually dead its just slumbering within the last fire giant, so there would be no body to fashion the blade from if the last fire giant is still alive
@umukzusgelos48344 ай бұрын
well... now with the introduction of Metyr, Mother of Fingers, would you believe that it was her body that the Finger Slayer Blade was fashioned from? She does have a large gash on her stomach after all

The nameless city at deep root depths was part of Lyndell before it was cast underground. Its right below the massive missing quarter of the capital where the original main gates would have lead through and into the lower old quarter where the dragon is
@alephnole70097 ай бұрын
Godwyn was also slain in the capital. His corpse sank along with the old quarter. It was sunk as punishment for his death after the other cities. It's nameless because it wasn't a full city. Just part of Lyndell.

This is a very interesting idea. The only thing is that the god of the fell flame couldn’t be killed, upon realizing this it was contained in the last giant. So the fell god isn’t dead. Loved the rest though!

I definitely subscribe to this theory. I also like to headcannon that Astel was the meteor that destroyed Farum Azula as punishment for letting their god die. Its all really interesting, if Ranni's ending is the age of stars does that make your character the lord of night? Also I firmly believe the thing Ranni kills with the blade isn't her 2 things but a Metyr like thing called Celes. It has to many joints to be a 2 finger.
@enxman76977 ай бұрын
Really interesting! But what about if the body of the god was Godwin's? He's down there too, and a Great Sin could be the Night of the Knives. Also, he was bounded with a Dragon, that could have given them the idea of Dragonkins...

Yes! So just quickly, I think they're another experiment by the Nox at creating an artificial lord; there is an empty Chair-Crypt in Sellia guarded by 2 Nox and I think it's to symbolize their control over them, like puppet masters.

Hi! great video!, I would also like to share some ideas regarding the potential origins of the Fingerslayer Blade. The blade It could also been crafted from the corpse of the old Rot God but most interestingly, it may be related with the Bloodstar. Why? Because as the Thorn Sorcerer cast his signature move, he spawns a fiery fingerslayer type blade on top of his staff.

that's assuming that the Greater Will reigned during the Crucible time. I have some doubts since the Crucible doesn't exactly match the Greater Will needs for Order. Especially since everything linked to the Crucible became heresy during the Age of the Erdtree. But if the Darkmoon was destroyed before Marika rule, how come Ranni could meet it on the moonlight Altar plateau ? 12:49 But Dragons were still "in vogue" during the Erdtree, Poster Boy even befriended one and their incantations were added to the lore of the Golden Order, albeit with a different color to make them more acceptables. You have interesting theories. I like your videos ^^

Thanks so much for the comment! So I just thought the Dark Moon was just a spectral afterimage of the Black Moon, not the moon itself; kind of like how Ranni’s spirit exists in a puppet but her real body is dead.

Didn't the game state that Placidusax's god fled? It makes me wonder more if Placidusax and his god were a rebis, like Marika and Radagon, and that this divine aspect of him left. Hey, great video. Is it possible to link Miquella to the night of the Black knifes?
@kitetales7 ай бұрын
Thank you! Someone else mentioned that, but I think it’s possible to read TOO much into the game beyond what we’re directly told; by Ranni’s own words: “Indeed, I am the witch Ranni. I stole a fragment of the Rune of Death, and used it to forge the godslaying black knives through fearsome rite.” I don’t think I would feel as confident just saying this is a lie and we’re supposed to interpret something different.
@TheRealJohnux7 ай бұрын
@@kitetales I know that in every Dialog of Ranni, she insists on being the Person that stole a fragment of the Rune of death, but not a single one explaining how she did it. Neither is there any explicit Information on how a fragment was stolen. And she also never mentioned that Rykard was in on her plot if things turned to the worst and Maliketh caught Wind of what Was happening. What we DO have on the other Hand is Ranni for No apparent reason showing up at the Church of Elleh to give us the Spirit summoning bell and wolfs ashes. Her words were, as far as I remember, "...i am supposed to give you this... those belonged to Torrents Former Master.." She isn't there because she wanted to help us, she is there to deliver something to "the Person that has Torrent" from a 3rd Person unknown to us, And from the first promotional Art for SotE we can probably make out Miquella as Torrents Former Master, so he is the most likely suspect. There is also the 3 Black Knifes in Ordina that were probably trying to assassinate Miquella and were stopped in The City, why would they try to assassinate Miquella? The only other time the Black Knifes were acting as a group Was when they attacked Blaidd and Iji during Rannis Questline, and I can only assume it was in an effort to take revenge for the group. There are just too many parallels between Ranni and Miquella that don't add up if he wasn't involved. And our first interaction with Ranni is either hard evidence for them having worked together, or a 3rd Person with ties to both wanted to help "the Person that has Torrent" for reasons unknown to us, so I would rule out that possibility until more Information is available and say Ranni Worked with Miquella.

Even though Fromsoft's fashion style of storytelling has always been "as vague as possible", I still think they tried too hard with Elden Ring. Almost everything in this game is a reference to real world human history and astronomical phenomena, so you don't need to be so imaginative in trying to figure out its lores. Also, keep in mind that Fromsoft always follow this one formula: show us the end results and leave it up to us to find out the cause / origin. With all that said, here are some clues. The god whose return Placidusax has been anticipating is the Greater Will. And the Greater Will itself is actually the Sun. The world of the Lands Between is a planet with 2 moons and an asteroid belt. It revolves around the Sun in an ellipse. That means there was a point when it got closest to the Sun, too close that one of its asteroids absorbed the essence of the Sun and came crashing down - the Elden Star - the cataclysm which triggered the evolution of many creatures of the Lands Between. The crash site later became the Crucible. Then the planet got further and further away from the Sun. That's why it eventually took the Two Fingers hundred or even thousand of years to reach the Greater Will. Think about NASA and their Voyagers. As for Placidusax, he had to wait for his god at a place beyond time for he knew the Sun would eventually "return", but not before countless year have passed. The Black Moon of the Nox was actually the moon during an Eclipse. In the past, with the Twin Moons nestling against each other, the gravitational pull was so strong that it changed the course of the asteroids, causing them to fall down the Lands Between - thus "the guide of many stars". At some point, one of 2 moons tumbled down upon the Land of Shadow, right at Moorth Ruins. The memory stones were pretty much made from the moon's remnants collected there. Not sure how the event affected the other moon but seems like no more Eclipse ever since, and thus the lost Black Moon. The Dark Moon of Ranni is actually the moon during a Lunar Eclipse. It is the moon in its true form, without much influence from the sunlight. And finally, this is a very subtle hint that many people don't think of. Do you really think the Astels just came crashing down on the Lands Between randomly, accidentally? Or someone somewhere sent them down as a divine punishment to the people who dare to oppose him? Next time fighting the Elden Beast, just pay attention to one of it attacks, you may find something very familiar.

Neither the Greater Will nor Marika did a good job of banishing the Nox and erasing them completely from memory Just look at all the churches... you will find, they are NOT from this age - they are from the age before Expecially everybodys favorite Pope's place, the Church of Vows - there is even a statue of a Nox Priestess You know, the place, where you can get Absolution, if you use a Celestial Dew... or shall I call it Night Tear? I find it interesting, that you bow before a cursed and banished folks priestess, and use a Nox item, to pray for forgiveness... Just like Radagon did...
