Bryan, thanks for putting so much effort into documenting your build through this channel. These vids will be invaluable when I finally have the opportunity to build my own KF7.

Bryan, Just a heads up for when you mount the gas strut brackets on the doors. Make sure you leave enough clearance to the underside of the wings. I got mine to close (maybe 1/4") on one side and when I run my engine on the ground with the door open the vibrations from the prop slipstream causes the door to bounce up and down a little and it hits the wing, causing the plexiglass in that spot to get scratched up over time. I recommend 3/4" to 1" clearance.

Unfortunately I forgot to film that part, but it is completed with about that spacing.

Hi Brian Just a little idea for your doors is to install a striker plate made out of stainless steel on the fuselage out skin/door frame for where the door handle hits the outer skin/frame due to the handle hanging down. People always say l take care to not let the door slam closed but accidents happen and it will protect against that.. Cheers Alistair

Another great one. I'm working on ground school. Ultimate goal is to get a Kitfox, but I don;t really have a space to build one. Maybe I can find a "partially built, gave up on project" or a finished one in really good shape. I want to see the West from the air. Thank you for taking the time to product the videos.

In SolidWorks when you print your part you can do it at 100% scale so it prints it life-size. If you have a plotter this works very awesome. If you don't have a plotter you can do it in poster I believe. I use it for printing layouts. if you want me to I can get you more info or a KZbin video on how to do this. I love your build!!!! keep up the good work!!!!

Any reason you want your headset jacks on the butt rib vice the popular corner piece behind the seat? Seems like the cords would be hanging in the door all the time?

Hello, I would like to ask you, what diameter and thickness are the 4130 steel strut brace you are using for your wings?
@oltimer55444 жыл бұрын
Brian, what self-etching primer do you use? I have used Alumniprep and alodine on some aluminum parts, but those are extra steps and expense compared to just a self-etching primer. Paint sticks good, though. Stinson guy.

@bladerunner62824 жыл бұрын
wow, mounting those doors must have been difficult. i'd imagine some kind of temporary, adjustable mounting device might have found good use. not all that heavy, but awkward, no doubt.
@theflyingfool4 жыл бұрын
What's with the magnetometer Bryan? Are you going to be on contract to the DoD looking for Russian subs? ;) The lovely orange colour of that temporary wrap would make a really nice high viz scheme. Thanks again for posting, it's been a really interesting insight into the detail required in the build.

I was thinking the same thing on the color. The Magnetometer is the compass for the EFIS, lol.

What will this kit fox be able to do the your old one can’t ?
@BowenAero4 жыл бұрын
Lighter weight, more power, and I have a second larger wing to get it to fly slower. Along with modern avionics, auto pilot, larger baggage, better range, faster, lower fuel burn, paint the way I want it, and of course the experience of building the entire thing. Thats all.
@michaelbright35242 жыл бұрын

ohhhh, i bet it motivates to get progress on the new one, getting the flying itch. how much is the yamaha engine gonna end up costing?

Like the doors, how do you open them from the outside?
@BowenAero4 жыл бұрын
You use an allen wrench as a key to turn the handle inside, but it has always been a pain on my model 5 so maybe there is room to improve on that issue, thanks for mentioning it.
@sdutoit104 жыл бұрын
Project Kitfox Have been looking at them but it was my concern if you had an accident and the responders could not open it from the outside.
