Core i3s are almost always dual core with hyper-threading. Also, the NUCs have had a 2.5" hdd option for the past generation.

How did you install the OS and drivers etc? Did you just use a USB optical drive?

+James H It was a while back and I forget the details but probably USB DVD drive. For the last 6-12 months I only ever seem to install Windows from USB flash drive and then get drivers online as Windows 10 seems to sort out networking pretty easily.

+James H if anyone bought the Skylake BRIX with only USB 3.0 slots, they need to ensure to create a USB Boot Drive with the OS and the necessary USB 3.0 Drivers in the Boot and Install WIM files. Gigabyte has a special file for that purpose and it works really well. Or else the USB keyboards and mouse will not work when installing the OS.... Took me about 2 hours of figuring out the right files...but it would be easier to get it directly from Gigabyte. It takes about 20-30 minutes (and another computer) to mount and "create" the WIM files, but it gets the job done.
