Hi Julie! Thanks for your video! Would you mind doing a video on the different foundation finishes and how those work/ how to work with them with different skin types like dry, normal, oily? How do you choose what kinds to get ? Thanks so much !
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I personally carry all satin finishes as I mentioned in this video. I personally don't believe you need to have certain finishes for different types of skin because you can always alter the formula depending on the primer you use and how much powder you set it with. It's completely up to you as an artist to choose which ones you want to carry :)

Hi Julie! What an awesome video series! Do you have a recommended cruelty-free foundation besides the CT for a more full coverage? Thanks again ❤
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi Katie! Thank you so much :) I haven’t experimented with a ton of full coverage foundations since I don’t tend to use them on clients that often. I don’t like to recommend stuff I’ve never tried myself but I have heard that a lot of ppl like the Fenty foundation. Just never have tried it personally :)

Adding blue to a foundation neutralizes the color. So if you foundation is too orange or warm add a small amount of blue. If you add too much blue tot he yellow you will adjust it to olive.
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi Thank you! Yes someone else pointed that out and that makes a lot of sense! I've since played around with it. Still kind of nervous doing it on site but still may be handy!

Was wondering if you could make a video about how you transferred the foundations from the original bottles to the smaller tubes 😅 It's harder than i thought
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi!! I included that in some of my vlogs on my channel but to be honest just took A LOT of patience. Literally just spend time pumping them all into bottles lol

Thanks for showing your foundations❣️ If you don’t have a video on airbrushing, what is your opinion on airbrush foundations? Hope you include that in your next video series. As for me, meh…,umm…, STILL don’t know what to think.
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am personally not a fan of airbrushing and refuse or offer it as a service. It also hasn’t prevented me from getting clients. It’s just another method of application like a brush or a sponge and I think it just looks cakey over time. I could just rant about it for a video instead 😜
@mvuj2 жыл бұрын
@@julieruby Ok yes pls rant away😃. I feel like it is just one of the quickly passing trends that lack versatility. But then again, I REALIY don’t know too much as I have never tried it myself. I watched other videos on it being applied and I am not amused enough to jump on the band wagon 🤔

Giiirrllll I LOVE THESE!!!! I’m gonna do this on my beauty channel next year as well. You’re so made for this. Happy to see your face again and glad to see you’re doing great. Side note: what do you use to cut yourself out and put the white highlight around yourself for your thumbnail? I’m trying to do better with mine as well.

Thank you so much! Yes do it! It’s been so fun to create these videos with a holiday theme :) It’s been fun catching up with your life as well! I’m glad you are loving your new life in Georgia. I use Canva for all my social media graphics and designs. I pay for the Pro version to get the background remover feature.

Question: when trying to find the perfect shade match for a client, do you ever mix two shades from different brands? I know you mentioned everything being silicon based so they mix well together but wasn’t sure if you actually mixed shades from different brands to better color match. Love the 25 days of Kitmas!!!!
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kelsey! Yes I mix them ALL THE TIME. That's why I have them all silicone based so I can and don't have to worry about conflicting formulas. NARS does a WAY better job at deeper shades so I'm always mixing with the others :) Glad you are enjoying the series so far!
@florsilva8782 жыл бұрын
Love your videos! Do you decide on foundation you’ll be using based on clients desired finish look?
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi Thank you so much! Yes, I consult with them ahead of time to see what would be the best option for them. Although as I mentioned in the video, I do mix them together sometimes so it's not just a singular foundation on their skin.
@niki_robiii611 ай бұрын
Do you have any experience with the LA Girls mixing pigments? I have used them with other foundations, but not a silicone based one. I assume they would not mix well with the Face Atelier foundation? I’m wanting to give those a try!
@julieruby11 ай бұрын
Hi I personally have never used them so unfortunately I can't give my opinion on them. Luckily, they are inexpensive enough that you could buy them and experiment :)

Blue adjuster is to neutralize a shade and to make it more cool
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clarifying! I’m still messing around with it bc it’s kind of intimidating haha I did find out that it does neutralize yellow shades though
@metlenko12 Жыл бұрын
I really want to try the Face Atelier Foundation, but I'm worried about the product not sitting correctly on the skin after the prep step since it is a silicone base and im used to water based. I've been using doublewear by EL for years on my clients and it works nicely with the Milk primer but I want to try a true MUA product. What skin prep products work with Face Atelier? What primer do you use if any? Thanks in advance!
@julieruby Жыл бұрын
Hi! Silicone foundations can work with any primer (it does work with the milk Hydrogrip) you just have to let primers “set” first. I usually do my prep and primer, completely the eyeshadow, and by the time I’m done I will go in with foundation and it doesn’t seperate or anything.

When buying the 4-6 foundations for your kit, do you get all Neutrals so you can alter them to cool or warm ? Or go all Cool or all warm?
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi Meg!! Yes that’s exactly what I do! Neutrals can be altered with color adjusters so it saves money and space in my kit :)

Hey Julie how would someone get onto the Pro Programme for Charlotte Tilbury and other makeup brands if they’re self taught artists with no certificate? Can you please help how did you do it yourself ? x❤
@julieruby Жыл бұрын
Hi! You have to have some credentials otherwise there is nothing that qualifies you as a “professional.” I started off self-taught and obtained my certification in order to get the discounts. I also am getting my Esthetician license as well so that will be easier going forward. If you do film and TV, submitting a call sheet is also a credential as well. Each brand requires something different so I would check out their website :)

Ah ok thank you for your prompt reply as always xx ❤

How do you decide what undertones to get?
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi! As I mentioned in the video, I have mostly all neutrals but it’s doesn’t really matter since I have those foundation adjusters :) Just make sure you have good combo of cool and warm if you don’t feel comfortable using adjusters.

As someone who’s fair skinned with an olive undertone, no they don’t all look the same. I don’t know why people say all fair foundations look the same and we only need two shades but at the same time complain there’s not enough darker shades. If fair people foundations all look the same, then surly the opposite end of that don’t need a lot of shade options either. They all look the same. Undertones aren’t a thing or anything🤪 Especially coming out of a makeup artist mouth who knows better then that it’s irritating. You have any idea how annoying it is for me to find a good foundation that matches me? I at least don’t run around and consider that as a personal attack on me. I just have to keep looking until I find some. All fair foundations are the same my ass
@julieruby2 жыл бұрын
Hi I totally understand how this could come off that way, but that wasn't what I was saying in this video so I apologize if I offended you. In the makeup artist world, we don't need to get foundation shades that exactly match someone since we can adjust undertones and the depth of them. I was just mentioning that in order to save money on building a makeup kit, that you wouldn't need every single shade bc of the color adjusters.
