I was there, in Springfield, Mass., when George had his stroke, right in the middle of the first song. Terrifying moment.
@Yokonono9915 жыл бұрын
JUST BEAUTIFUL. BTW...George's stroke was in the summer of '04, on stage playing drums in a Poco concert; and ended his career; he is their original drummer; starting on the debut album Pickin' Up the Pieces back in 1969. This appearance is simply amazing.

OH MY MY MY! DREAM COME TRUE! I'VE ALWAYS WANTED THESE GUYS BACK TOGETHER JUST TO PERFORM JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS. it's nice to see timothy back with POCO. .....

George looks great! and to be that in tune vocally after being out of commission after a stroke??? that's AWESOME! My dad worked with Grantham back when Grantham was with Ricky Skaggs and George was one of the drummers who (after me watching him) made me pick up a pair of sticks.

@druther530 What amazes me abount George (apart from his incredible high regisiter harmony) is when you watch him live - his drumming is intense - he's not just keeping the beat here, but still he never misses a vocal back-up. Talk about multi-tasking, the man is amazing - the backbone of the group.

I agree George sounds good. His voice is more mature but still has that fresh, innocent quality. His singing spawned a whole slew of singing drummers. I've got a magazine article about this subject.

You want to hear a man with range? Pull up John Gary "Another Go Around" on youtube. Gary was a Baritone who sang in Tenor as often as Baritone. He had a 5 Octave range and could sing In Soto in Full Soprano all the way down to the upper Bass range with no loss of timbre, tone or clarity. No Falsetto! That's his natural voice! He had a TV show on CBS in the mid 60's. His big hit was "Softly As I Leave You". Elivis was a huge John Gary fan. John died several years back.

Correction! Timothy B. Schmidt IS NOT a founding member. Randy Meisner, who was also a founding member of the Eagles, was the original bass player for Poco!

Jimmy was long gone and involved in Loggins and Messina when Richie left.
@druther53015 жыл бұрын
How about Barry Gibb or Smokey Robinson? They could both get up there. A group called Steps covered the Beegees song Tragedy. You can listen to both versions on youtube, the ladies couldn't sing as high as Barry and had to drop it a register.
@lylelehman34567 жыл бұрын
That's not right. Tim replaced Randy Meisner when Randy was recruited to the Eagles. Jim Messina saw the writing on the wall and decided to leave and was replaced - over a long period of time - by Paul Cotton.

@PEDROCLASSIC Henly and Frey could continue as a duo called - The EGO'S!. Is iot just me or did the Eagles get shit after 'Desperado/On the Border' ? - the only memorable songs were 'I Cant Tell You Why' and 'In the City' off 'The Long Run'

@StevieReidEFC yeah. i wonder if the EAGLES would continue on if timothy left and JOE WALSH too to reform the JAMES GANG. what's left with the eagles? oh wait then bernie and randy would rejoin. so it's like 1972 all over again.
