In my opinion Timothy Schmidt wrote the best songs for Poco between 1970 and 1977 in his time with the band. His voice us magical, songwriting great. I love his solo work. Don Henley and the Eagles would have out out even better material if they had allowed Timothy to write more if their songs. But I don't think Henley's fragile ego would ever allow it. Well then, at least we have Timothy's solo work and his beautiful Poco songs still to listen to. Amazing artist Timothy Schmidt is still.

Spot on on Henley. Intertwined here is that Henley kicked Randy Meisner out of Eagles and Schmidt came in to sing Randy’s parts. Schmidt is a good musician but the entire episode is depressing. Who knows how much interesting material from Don Felder that Henley and Frey spiked. Poco was and is cool.

The ageless wonder, Timothy B. Schmit. Saw him do an even better version of this classic on Mon. 12/7/09 at Portland's Aladdin Theater. The band he's assembled for this west coast tour is every bit as musically talented as The Eagles. Everywhere one looked in the audience you saw tears of joy at the sound that was coming off that stage. No man should be able to sing like that at age 62!

In college, about 1982 or 83, a new woman I just met in the dorm, stayed up most of the night sewing the Poco Horse emblem on the back of my dungaree shirt! How I wish I still had it! I was at work at a terrible job to the east of Houston one day. They had me making glasses in an un~airconditioned optical lab up stairs above their optical store, I won't tell you the name of the place but it started with a T and ended with an O . I was making glasses for people(optical) & I was listening to the local Houston fm station while I was working and the I think the Eagles were playing in town that night, anyway they had Timothy B in the studio talking to people on the telephone. I walked over to the phone and dialed the number and to my surprise didn't get a busy signal, the phone started to ring. It rang about 10 times and Timothy B. answered the phone! I was shocked that I didn't get a busy signal in the first place and triple shocked when he answered the phone and had no idea what I was gonna say so I just asked him " Why did you leave Poco?" He laughed and told me that the Eagles had called him with an" offer he couldn't refuse" . I chatted with him for a couple of minutes and thanked him for taking my call and he took down my address and mailed a black and white photo to me that he had signed. I like the Eagles ok but I love Poco music a lot more. anywho that's my Timothy B story.

@jimrauh35842 жыл бұрын
@@charlesreid9337 But it's not just as simple as dismissing him as a cancer. He and Frey drove the Eagles; it's not the Eagles without them and their drive for worldwide domination! Your statement that "his being part of the Eagles was the worst mistake they ever made" is such an odd one. You phrase it as if they brought him into the group late like TBS or Walsh.

If the Pentagon and the Military Industrial Complex had to endure this kind of scrutiny and budget cuts and these guys were given free access the world might be a better place.

Since I asked that question, a pickin up the pieces vid from Stagecoach 2009 has appeared on youtube. At the beginning, Richie intorduces George G and then George sings. So that means all the original members plus Paul, Jack and George L were on stage together! When Poco appears with the Little River Band and America both of those bands bring Rusty on stage during their performances. I've been told when Richie pops up unannounced, they bring him out and mention his being the R&R HOF. Kewl huh?

Hey Kitnewell...true, Paul is not a founding member. But neither is Tim! Randy Meisner was the original bass player; bolted during Pickin Up the Pieces. Tim was not a part of that; he joined after that first album. But Paul and Tim are part of what many consider the 'definitive' Poco; the 'Good Feelin' To Know' years. Jimmy didn't play on Good Feelin;. Richie didn't play on Keep on Tryin'! but he surely knows it here! Fascinating history, this band. A Super Group, RRHOF worthy.

Tim was not an original member of Poco. Randy Meisner was, but left during the recording of the first Poco album. Tim replaced him for the 2nd album. Randy also was the original bassist for the Eagles, then after the infamous fight with Frey on the Hotel California tour, quit. Eagles recruited Tim from Poco in '77, and so he again replaced Meisner in a band. Poco, the original band, reunited for a short time in '89; Meisner was again in Poco, and had a top 40 hit for them, Nothing to Hide.

Everytime Poco takes a new direction or shows a new influence, the next Eagles album mirrors that change. Trace it down through their history, you'll see I'm right.
