Update on my Hourglass theory: The refill shade I Can't Live Without also smells bad, and that also came in that pink packaging 2018 holiday collection. The last shade that came in that collection was At Night, which smells fine. This could be because that is a really popular permanent shade and they might have taken existing stock to fill the packs. Anyway I will be panning 5 shades next year, all from that holiday range. The rest are in perfect condition.

OMG mine are also smelling bad :'((((. I have the pink pack that comes with I Woke Up, If Only and I Can't Live Without. My Hourglass ones are also starting to smell bad and all of them are LE... So I think you might be absolutely right with your theory. Actually really sad this is happening but there's no way I'm throwing them, so I'm actually using them as if I were panning too. Also, one of my pink packages started to change colour eventhough i haven't carried it anywhere 🤔

I honestly love this series more than I thought I would. I really like that we get to see these lipsticks in quick succession in one video. So when I can finally get the luxe lipstick I want, I can rewatch this for reference. Thank you for doing these. The hard work on these really helps us.

I work at Mecca and we have had lots of people return the Hourglass Confession lipsticks due to them smelling! Seems like a common problem and we have flagged this with the company in our store

Mine smell but they have since day one. They show no other sign of being bad ... and they smell just like lipsticks used to normally 30 years ago. I just assume that once the seal is broken on the colour the fragrance comes through stronger and that's literally just how they smell. Maybe wrong, it may be an age thing but if so mine were old the day I opened them and I doubt that as they were a special set that was just newly released.

I have some that I got when they first released and they still smell like vanilla, but the pink packaging collection's scent has changed from vanilla to raw wax ingredients. So I would say its a formula changing rather than a smell becoming more noticeable.

You are my spirit animal in regards to shade names that remind you of your favorite bands. 😂 This is why I’ve been kicking myself for not getting on the TF Love Flush Blushes & getting the shade How Deep Is Your Love. The Bee Gees are my favorite band EVER! I would most likely do the same with the Hansen & BSB shades too if I had known of those shades existence when they were released & could afford Hourglass. I’m still discovering my fave lip formula, but currently enjoying my UD Vice lip in Ravenswood.

Hi! I am also a big fan of the timestamp function I could never get it to work on my channel. I knew it worked on Beauty News (Hailey does the timestamps for that) but I thought maybe it was a function that needs to be rolled out to smaller channels, and didn't think much else of it. I just looked into it and what I was doing wrong was that you need to start with a 0:00 time stamp to make it work... which I wasn't doing. So now that I know what to do I will make sure to do them more from now on. Thanks for the suggestion.

That story with your Mum and the orange lipstick was really heartwarming. I have an hourglass lipstick in at night I bought like 5 years ago as a birthday present to myself and it’s still fine. Even if I wish it wasn’t as I don’t like the shade or the brand but it’s expensive. I wonder if the limited edition packaging wasn’t as air-tight? It could be the formulation too

I'm glad your At Night is doing well! They are expensive lipsticks so you want them to last! I would think it might be the packaging, but even the refills in that set have a difference scent, so it's more likely the formula.

I just (a month or 2 ago) lip switched all my hourglass well actually all my lipsticks inspired by this series and my pink hourglass still smelt good, I might have to revisit them and focus on using them up first so I can finish them before they turn

I ADORE My Icon Is and I Woke Up (which smells ok, actually). They are my go to shades, especially on a big day :) Also! Came for the lipsticks, stayed for the bebe pics.

I bought the Bobbi Brown lipstick in Telluride because I was in Colorado at the time. And I never wore it because I thought it was too dark. Then I saw Hannah Louise Poston discuss, at length, her love for Crushed Rubies. And I realized that I was an idiot, and it was a nice lip tint. So now I love it. PROOF I NEED TO QUIT BUYING SHIT.

I adore Bobbi Brown lippies, more of the newer formulas. I’d like to recommend Crushed lipstick in Telluride (very interesting brown) and Blue raspberry (a delicious nude, similar to MAC Velvet Teddy). You need to try the new crushed oil infused lip gloss and the lip balm and the liquid lip. All the BB Crushed formulas are so unusual but my fav❤️

I’m also a huge fan of that Bobbi Brown Wild Orchid liquid lipstick. I first tried it when I had a makeover followed by a big steak & salad lunch. I checked my lips on the bus home and they were pristine! No smearing, no fading, no patchiness. I ordered a backup as soon as I got home.

Snowed In is a classic! I love going to the supermarket and hearing them play tracks from it. I might need to make that the album that my kid associates with Christmas haha! I’m always shocked at how flattering the hourglass lipstick are. Color that look terrible on me in their formula look great! I’ll have to check my pink set to see if they smell. I have to mask allday at work so no lipstick wearing has happened all year! Also, I would have been gutted if you binned any of the ultra slims! Except of course if they have gone bad.

This series has been why I wear a lip product every single day now. It's also so cool to see which colors people prefer! I personally love reds and pinks but find it hard to get a good nude (I'm brown) but some of the nudes you wear look so pretty and may even work with my skin!

Thanks. But just to clarify, we have always had freedoms to leave our house, go to the park, exercise, see friends outside, go to the shops for essentials, work etc. But socialising and entertainment was limited to reduce the spread of the disease. So yes it was inconvenient, but it wasn't as hard as other people think (people picture quarantine where we can't leave our homes, which was not the case), and it helped save lives so I would prefer to be in lockdown than losing loved ones.

I worked for Hourglass at Nordstrom for a few years, they're still my all time favorite, but I definitely have some of their lipsticks that smell like playdoh! I'll still wear it though, it is truly the best formula! 🥰

I love this series. It has inspired me to be more critical about my lip products. I have probably close to 100 total (lipstick, gloss, liner combined) and I have not purchased anything new in a few months. I need to do another declutter but my favorite beauty products are lips and mascara. Btw, your base makeup looks flawless. What are you using? The hourglass is in my top 3 of all time favorite bullet lipsticks. I have trouble finding shades that I love though (across all brands on the planet lol) so at the moment I only have one in my collection and it’s a deep beautiful red for fancy occasions ❤️

I love Hanson but I'm not a die hard fan that loves every song. They do get better with age, some of their new stuff I absolutely adore (I lost track of the number of times I played "I Was Born" dancing my baby to sleep) but not all of their songs are my jam. They are killer live though! Always a great time!

16:56 You are right in saying that perhaps the Bobbi Brown crushed lip colors would better suit a deeper skintone. I have a deeper skintone and pigmented lips. I got one and was like it's too sheer for me to enjoy, but they grew on me, especially the shades cranberry and plum. Also, I got them at a steep discount so there's that.

I just checked my Hourglass lipsticks and You Are My from the first holiday pack, in the gold packaging, reeks like bad crayons. The other two from that lot still smell ok, but these will be first on my pan list now to get the use out of them

I really don't recommend wearing makeup that's going bad or gone bad. Their formulas are breaking down and there may be bacteria issues. Just throw them out and get the ones you love fresh. You skin will thank you.

I don’t use makeup that has gone bad, but I do wear makeup that is older and is still in good condition. I do agree that when a products changes colour, texture, scent, it is time to get rid of them, however since the scent change is isolated to one Hourglass collection, and I have older Hourglass lipsticks that are in perfect condition, it is more likely that this collection had an unstable scent ingredient rather than the lipsticks going off. The change of scent is just that the vanilla scent has worn off and the raw wax scent is what is left over. So I am willing to take that risk. My skin is doing well and the environment will thank me for not throwing everything out and repurchasing it, when they are likely perfectly safe to use.
