KITT Hacks a Toy Car | Knight Rider

Being an avid and long time vintage RC collector I noticed something. At 6:42 Michael asks KITT for a visual of this year's toy cars which would make the current year 1985 in the episode, but all of the Tamiya RC vehicles that were shown were released between 1979 and 1984. Then, when Michael says "back up one" it shows a car that wasn't even in the lineup to begin with Lol. When the kid taps out five guards using the radio control I realized that isn't even a car radio at all, it's for airplanes!! As a kid I obviously never noticed any of this. God, I miss the 80's!!!!

so as someone that does a lot of RC myself, the radio situation could simply be a preference thing. I personally use airplane Txs for tank steer style RC for example - some people might just naturally prefer the way a stick feels. You are probably right, its just i feel if they had got an RC car - why would they get a different Tx to go with it? Why not just buy 2 RC cars and have the actor hold one Tx, and the stunt co ordinator (or whoever deals with KITT driving the car) hold the actual Tx off screen. These kind of shows usually buy 2 of everything anyway incase one breaks.

wheel radios were not common in the late 70's early 80's i have the tamiya audi quartro of the same vintage as the opel ascona featured in this episode and used a stick radio (i still have it but restored now with a wheel radio)

I wish they would make modern day Knight Rider but better than the one they did in 2008. I always felt that a Ford Mustang was a bad choice for an uodated KITT because it was too bulky looking and had no mystique to it like the sleek black 3rd Gen Trans Am with had. They need to do KITT as a more sleek car like the Trans Am was. Something like a Corvette or an NSX could hit the right vibe. Something black with those mysterious subtle red lights that cruises in kow light as the sun goes down beyond the horizon... when day becomes night. Some kind of car that has either flip up headlights, or very very very thin LED DRL headlights and is very sporty or exotic looking. That would make for a great modern KITT. Even better if they could get David Hasselhoff to participate as Michael Knight in some way..possibly in a mentor role to the younger Knight Rider. I love Knight Rider and I'd hate for it to become just a distant memory from our childhood that we see on KZbin.

I wouldn't mind a new young male protagonist to takeover Michael Knight's wheel since David Hasselhoff isn't as young as he used to be anymore. I wouldn't mind a new Knight Rider. I agree, Older Michael Knight should be like some kind of mentor to teach his superior skills onto the Young Knight Rider. 2008 verison doesn't count too much CGI and shitty writing.

So... hear me out. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but... A Tesla Model 3 or Y as the next KiTT. This is based on the simple fact that KiTT was supposed to represent the then, current vision of future automotive technology. Back then it was about hydrogen fuel/fuel cells and micro-sized turbine engines all controlled by the ever evolving microprocessor technology. Auto manufacturers were still clinging to the wedge styling using pop-up headlights to maintain the sleek design. But now the world has changed and as such, so has the view on the future of automotive tech. Today, the future is electric cars and there is no limit to how far you can push the imagination on this. If KiTT back then was supposed to be representation of fuel efficiency, getting dozens of miles out of a sip of fuel, the same can be applied to an electric car. Just say that the Knight Foundation had inadvertently created a battery tech that can give KiTT a range of over 1K on a charge on top of a new, more enhanced MBS skin that's impregnated with nanites that not only allows KiTT to repair minor damage to himself, but absorbs sunlight to help extend his range to near infinite when the sun is out. Like I said, KiTT back then was supposed to be a representation of what automotive manufacturers envisioned to be the future of car technology, and if there is a new Knight Rider, that concept should not change. He should -still- represent what represent what we NOW envision as the future of automotive tech.

@@knightfoxgaming4121 I understand your line of thinking and I agree about the futuristic/advanced tech aspect of that logic, but I think that KITT would have to be more sporty and mysterious than those sedans. I think the headlights need to be hidden or at least very close to hidden (thin narrow LEDs perhaps), and it needs a spoiler and a removable top like a moon roof or T-tops etc. Perhaps they can create a new KITT entirely from imagination? Make it from scratch so that it resembles the sleek sporty look of the original, but has the more modern/futuristic tech of the next generation of cars? I could imagine a nice blend in such a design of all the important features.

It's my theory that there were secret satellite-guided spy cameras built into the RC rally car's headlights. Kitt simply utilized that technology to determine the precise location of the hostages. These facts are very easy to grasp, once you come to grips with the obvious reality that the early 80s was THE most technologically advanced era in human history, with computer technology that dwarfs that which is available in 2023!
