Always loved that tire-smoking launch! At least one of the KITT cars had some guts as seen here and a few other eps. Either a 350 or maybe hopped up 305. Certainly more than the mild mods they did to most of their 305 cars. That turbo boost was massive! And shot very well from an angle and zoom so that it looked like they barely cleared the Camaro and also made the front buckling look less. Knight Rider had a talented crew

Think about how far over the top just the concept of still was KITT was just 10-15 years ago, let alone 30 years ago. even if he could have bragged about KITT, that could have convinced the right cops and judge to have him committed until KITT or Devin was able to break him out. Come to think if it, KITT doing that would have been awesome if done like the A-Team Movie scene where they were breaking Murdock out during the movie!

Like Jonathan mentions, or on top of what they say, 3 point seatbelts (what we have today, I think) were I think a thing back when this show was on the air, I think that they may have been set as code that manufacturers had to put 3 point seatbelts in in 1968 or somewheres around there, but it's often common for tv show producers to either RIP them out or buy cars straight from the factory without seatbelts I guess due to cumbersomeness and possible unsightlyness of the seatbelts during filming. The lazer restraint I guess is the idea that it's supposed to be like a substitute for a seatbelt. I'm guessing that the producers just put simple graphics up on screen either during filming or during post production.

Ive seen it happen once where a guy ran his car through a downed power line and the car just got EMP'd and it ran off the road into my yard. I was lucky enough to get the hoffs autograph when i was a kid!!! many moons ago my dad was heavily involved in construction projects in the 80s. we used to live close where they did the filming of this series. i loved it since the pilot episode!!! w one of my dads properties that he was working on in hidden valley ca they wanted to film an episode there and guess who they need permission from to get that green light!!! my dad actually said ok but with ONE condition that he gets an autograph for his daughter ME!!! sadly through lifes travels i dont have it anymore but in earlier years i had it framed and kept it on the night stand next to my bed for the longest time!!! i even remember sitting in im sure was a replica but universal studios had KITT there i never wanted to get out of that car!!!

That and you see the front getting destroyed when it lands and on a lot other scenes you see this black plate bolted under the front bumper (assume to mount a camera rig or to tow it). Or the classic chunky driver seat when KITT is driving itself, sometimes you can even see the drivers arms and there is always a cut before MK enters the car. But you can only see those things now, in the 80s they were all invisible!

That's pretty bad! This show has some pretty awful continuity issues. It was probably footage from another episode which is strange because they obviously had a shot of him from the same angle a few seconds later in the proper clothes. I'm convinced the editors noticed but threw it in under the philosophy, 'no one will notice, and if they do it doesn't matter.'

It is the Corky Barracuda, Barris built two for the movie (and probably supplied a few other cars for this KR episode) one was destroyed in the derby, this one is the hero car.
