We rescued my kitten 12 years ago who also had an infected eye, but it was too far gone. We had to have her eye removed, but she never had any problems. She's the cutest little fighter! She's 12, and still the size of a kitten! The doctors never thought she'd live, but because we gave her a chance, she thrived! I love what you do!

Hi Hannah, our adult cat used to get eye infections frequently so our vet showed us how to treat it. He said to always clean from the outside corner of the eye towards the inside (towards the nose), instead of the other way around. The tear duct is in the inside corner so you would then be cleaning in a more natural direction. I hope you read this. :)

I'm currently going through this with my two fosters! They're almost 8 weeks, but they were born with a severe upper respiratory infection and we're really struggling in getting it to go away. They're strong little kitties, though, so we're very hopeful! Thank you for sharing!

I adopted two kittens who had recurring eye infections. The vet said it was a herpes virus. As they got older they stopped getting the infections. Interestingly one of them accidentally scratched me in the eye and I was prescribed the same ointment I had used on them.

Nacho gets pink eye some times! I've perfected the art of pinning him down between my legs and holding his eye open while I put in the drops. Not an easy feat with a 16 lb cat :P

my grandmother has an old 12 year old cat, who get's very, very, upset if you try to give him his eye drops (he has a herpes virus which is causing immune problems and his eyes to be cloudy) and he also gets upset when you try to give him his flea medication, but he's a good old cat.

OMG this video just saved my sanity! I found a pregnant mama kitty and took her in. The kittens are a few days shy of 3 weeks. One of them has an eye that has been stuck shut in the am for 2 days and some yellow discharge. I was very worried. I watched this video and you recommended Terramycin, which I have. I used a tiny dot on a qtip and within one day, it's looking better. Thank you so much from the bottom of my animal loving heart! 💓

What if the kitten that is 3weeks old has his eyes closed because of the eyebooger? Should i force it to open? I noticed that when i force it to open there are some white liquids flowing out off his eyes.

@@wroicee3744 I wouldnt force it open. Try to clean off the eye boogers on the out side of the eye as gently as possible with a warm wash cloth. then place the salve right on the slit where the eye would open with a qtip.

Picked up a baby off the street a few days ago and his eye infection seems to be getting worse. Gonna pick up the Terramycin you mentioned and see if that helps. Would be a lot cheaper than a vet visit, thank you

Admire your effort dear, you're such an amazing person. Terramycin work well, is an antibacterial ointment to prevent infection. Just one thing, wiping the uninfected eye and infected eye with the same wipe, is a cause of concern as it may be infectious. Glad you're doing great work, helping many and inspiring others to do the same whenever the need arises. May God bless you 🙏.

Hi Hannah, love what you're doing in general and your videos in particular. Though my gf and I have years of experience with kittens, we always learn something new from you! Not to mention the cuteness factor (through the roof!). Coincidently, one of our kittens has an eye infection at the moment, too, though less severe as Hannah jr., so this video came at the right time. We already took her to the vet, got similar antibiotics and eye drops, it is reassuring to see that we're pretty on the mark in how we handle her and administer the meds. I feel sad because I had a nursing mom and her two kittens come into my life. The mom and one of the kittens had upper respiratory and eye infections. The mom was fine after medicine, but one of the kitten's eyes never went back to normal. It looks like his third eyelid went over the eye and never retracted off. Both kittens are now healthy, happy, and thriving as adults, but I feel sad that perhaps, if I had gotten them sooner, I might have been able to save the kitten's eye. So thank you so much for putting your process online - if I ever encounter a kitten with an eye infection again, I'll know what to do.
