Why does the athlete fall to the floor so much? Wouldn’t you want to keep the athlete on there feet and run through or step through? Curious
@revanslc5 жыл бұрын
The setter will usually set the ball to another attacker, so it's not a problem that they spend some time on the floor. They're just training for real scenarios where the ball is coming harder and faster, and they need to give their all to dive if needed. So in this drill, falling isn't that necessary to receive the ball, but they're having them get used to the motions.

When balls start to become more hard driven, people have less time to get their feet there so falling to the floor is a good way to get your entire body and momentum of the ball up. Rather than sprawling to your stomach they practice collapse digging to get back up easier. Depending on a ball with different speeds you may or may not be able to get your feet there

Do you play sports orrr?
@matildearaujo88755 жыл бұрын
Exactly, in volleyball you should try to move more your feet, not just going right into the floor. To get a nice play in this, you need to be still to do the technical gesture right.

jessica, yes. I currently assist at a division 2 college volleyball program in California. All the clubs i directed and been around we never really taught our girls and boys to hit the floor. You do have to if you position yourself in the right place or run through the ball.

I'm a subscriber to the channel (youtube), congratulations on the excellent material. I am a former university professor teaching sports training and volleyball. Former fitness coach of national league teams. Today, I have a channel that talks about non-profit volleyball and would like permission to use parts of your videos in around 10 to 30 seconds. when using it I will quote the source, indicate the channel and put the link in the description. Thank you await return.

I am deeply saddened by this drill. I know this drill is very common, so it's not a criticism of this coach, but rather a criticism of the volleyball community. The problem? This drill works exclusively on hard driven balls. Yet in the real world, at any level, about 0-1 points per set, per team, are scored off of dug driven balls. My point is that no matter how much you train, digging hard-driven is very rare, and even when you do the result is a free ball to the opponent. So why spend all this practice time working on ghosts?
@thomaspham32395 жыл бұрын
lotklear so they get really good at digging not as hard driven balls that are outside of their body
