I'm new to your channel and really loving these videos! I used to have a parakeet many years ago - a green male name named "Fifi" (I don't even remember who chose the name or why, he was basically a "family" pet) - for 5 years until one day the tenant in the apartment under ours fell asleep with a lit cigarette and the whole place was full of smoke. Luckily the fire department arrived before it spread (so it only did smoke damage to his apartment, not ours). But we had to open all the doors and windows and Fifi flew right out the door and we never saw him again. :-( So it's been fun watching Pixel and Kiwi because Kiwi reminds me so much of Fifi! I don't think people realize just how entertaining parakeets can be, esp if they've learned how to talk (ours never did, he came from a pet store). He was let out of his cage during the day as well, but mostly kept to the kitchen and dining room. His fave spots were on top of the curtains, the counter and a perch we had on a wall. He also loved flying onto our shoulders.

well, since the channel is apparently migrating to a DIY channel (haha)... further improvements: perhaps a light sanding around the edge and a bit of the inside wall... and the top of the slower parts, just enough so they aren't "slick", and the boys don't slide right off haha but it looks great, and they really seem to enjoy it. when/if i can get a bird of my own, if it's small enough, i'll have to consider getting one of these fountains for it too.

perfect. Thanks for describing how to raise the flower for the budgies. it is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. The manufacturers should take your idea and improve and market to bird lovers. Now I'm off to amazon to buy the catit flower fountain. Then to Home Depot to buy the plastic hose.

It's just a 6" section of 3/4" aquarium tubing. It was $1 at the pet store. No other materials were needed except a heat device to soften the rubber to slip it over the flower stem section of the catit.

That's a neat invention for birds. You should create it and market it. It would probably sell....big time. When I had a parakeet I had one of those bird baths that hang on the cage....and the bird would never go in it. GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!

Aquarium tubing. Just bring the flower assembly to your pet store and they can cut 6-8 inches to length. It was about a buck.

I got my first one a few months ago and I’ve learned that I can take him to the water everyday but if he doesn’t want to he’ll fly to my head, also when he is done with the water he makes his way up my arm to my head and waits to be taken into the sun.

I've had budgies for nearly a decade and what I recommend (also what my avian vet recommends) is that you mist them with a spray bottle atleast once every other day and provide them with a clean, shallow dish of water to bathe in daily. One of my budgies loves water so much that she'll bathe herself twice a day in the bath and water bowls that I give them, the other doesn't like to bathe as much but he does like the steam from my shower and getting misted down, he also gets "second hand showers" daily from my female budgies shaking water all over him after she bathes.

addendum: I found the right size plastic hose at Home Depot. 1" o.d. 3/4" i.d. For $30.00 they sell a 10 ft. length. If you're up for a little petty larceny, what you can do is by the full length of hose, bring it to your car. cut off 5" then return the rest for a full refund. You have to soften up one end for the hose to snugly fit on the bottom of the flower (part B). I used a heat gun but, as mentioned, a hair dryer works just fine.
