Kix was my guy 💙 he said when they were first popular Ronnie was a " tight ass " kix liked to stretch out and have the whole audience enjoy their self .

When I was in high school, I avidly watched the CMA awards (it was the late 90s so they were still good haha), and one award Kix and Ronnie introduced and during their on-camera banter (the way I remember it), Ronnie made some remark at Kix's expense in the spirit of teasing, and Kix replied something like "we might have to break up." The audience mildly chuckled, but neither of them laughed. I remember thinking they sounded serious and sure enough months later their breakup was announced. I love their music but figured like Kix said they were just 2 talented artists who had to go their separate ways for a time. I was so glad when I heard they got back together. Rock On Brooks and Dunn!!!

The reason it worked so well is that you have Ronnie the voice and Kix the lead guitarist. KIX is the Brooks and Dunn sound.

Yeh, how many awards did they win? They probably had to rent a warehouse ... These guys were just well paired, hit after hit. My partners and I have some songs I wish they would hear ... Perfect produced in Tallahassee, Florida material for Brooks and Dunn. Hopefully, Dann Huff will hear them one of these days ... They've been sitting in his "IN BOX" for weeks, now ... busy man.

....Kix is full of it half the time unfortunately. As if he'd say something like that to Merle...without Merle saying.."Uhhh Willie and I recorded music together, Not every album like Brooks n Dunn. It's wild looking back and watching how thirsty and truly jealous of Ronnie. EVERY show his guitar isnt plugged in and they have to back his vocals down. Hell I wish Kix would just be content with his own accomplishments instead of constantly competeing. He paints it as if he's somehow even on Ronnie's level vocally. Of course Kix IS a great songwriter.
